À propos de cet hébergement

"Wesley House" Historic listed Cottage in Medieval Shrewsbury Town Centre

Located in the historic Medieval town of Shrewsbury, "Wesley House" is where John Wesley founder of the Methodist church preached in 1763, as denoted by the plaque on the house. A beautiful grade 11 listed property steeped in history with its ancient wood panelling and oak beams. The property is all on one level, the only step being the front doorstep. Perfect for those who appreciate its preservation over the centuries and a friend to anyone with limited mobility.

Located right in the heart of Shrewsbury Town Centre, guests are spoilt for choice with a multitude of local bars, pubs, a mixture of fine dining choices and of course plenty of shops for those after a bit of retail therapy!

Shrewsbury has been named by "The Telegraph" as number one for the best High street in the UK, described as "beacon of light piercing through the gloom; thriving high street in a handsome town that retains a healthy selection of quirky and independent businesses, giving shoppers a fine reason to escape the tyranny of Amazon".....and "Wesley House" is a two minute walk away!

The Telegraph goes on to say;
"With its meandering streets and blush sandstone castle wrapped in a loop of the Severn, Shropshire's compact county town is ideal for wandering and window shopping.
The covered market was voted the country's best in 2024. but it's hard to beat Wyle cop, a curving, climbing high street lined with 39 listed buildings, ranging from medieval half timbered to Victorian ornate"

Wesley House itself was saved from sinking in 2019.
Lovingly restored by the current owner and officially opened by the Lord Mayor and the Town Crier she is now available to all to enjoy.

Theres an antique brass bed in the double room, two singles in the twin room and behind the secret door in the panelling of the lounge is the sweetest little bedroom. The bed in this room is slightly shorter than a standard single, so if your 5' 3" or shorter you can nab the cosiest bedroom.

The bathroom has a large walkin shower and there's a shower chair if needed.
The washstand is pure marble with a modern basin sitting proud.

All the light switches in Wesley House are bakelite, no expense has been spared in recreating that "step back in time" wonderful feeling. A combination of modern luxury with wifi, smart tv and central heating, amidst the splendour of a time gone by.

Outside there is a walled courtyard with a fully stocked wood store for the cosy wood burner. Perfect place for summer drinks, having a bbq or kicking back with a good book.

A short walk from the property you will find the Quarry park which is a lovely public park built around the River Severn. Tree lined paths, Swans, Boat races,
Coffee shop, Ice creams...even a bandstand, and the jewel in the crown is the magnificent "Dingle", a sunken garden. It is a wonderful "feel-good" place which hosts a park run 9am every Saturday. Also home to the annual "Shrewsbury Flower Show", a two day event second weekend in August.
