Helland Bridge itself has a rich history. Its 15th century bridge, designated as an Ancient Monument, is one of the most beautiful in Cornwall. The local pottery owned by Paul Jackson is well worth a visit whilst there are countless woodland walks to follow and explore in the area. The Camel Trail, perfect for walking and cycling, reveals woodland, waterside and charming scenery, often missed from the roadside.
Visit Bodmin, once the county capital, just three miles away, with its heritage steam railway and former prison. There are many traditional pubs close by including St Mabyn, St Kew and Blisland, always popular with visitors. Wadebridge, a market town full of interesting shops, is approximately 13 minutesâ drive away. The Duchy of Cornwall Nursery near Lostwitheil is a wonderful place to eat and shop.
The north coast nearby offers the dramatic South West Coastal Path, incomparable views, beaches at Daymer, Polzeath, Rock and Lundy, wonderful harbour towns such as Port Isaac, mystical Tintagel, and iconic Padstow.
