À propos de cet hébergement
Willow Barn, Long Melford
A charming holiday home constituting one ‘wing’ of a chocolate box thatched cottage thought to date back to the 16th Century. The property has been renovated with a high-end rustic farmhouse aesthetic and provides comfortable accommodation for up to 2 guests in a double bed with a high-quality shower room, utility area and kitchenette. Tea and coffee-making facilities are provided, along with a kitchenette and the property benefits from its own front door, off-street parking and access to around a third of an acre of pretty gardens.
Willow Barn is a stylish self-contained property which forms one wing of a charming Grade II listed detached thatched cottage in a superb location between the highly regarded and well-served, picturesque villages of Long Melford and Lavenham.
The property has been comprehensively refurbished with an exacting eye for detail with high-quality fittings and a contemporary yet rustic finish. The property benefits from its own front door which is a stable door leading into a private hallway. Accessible from the hallway is a superb high-specification shower room with marble tiling and a ‘Neptune’ vanity suite with a fully tiled double-width shower cubicle, WC, shaver point and ambient wall-mounted lighting. There is the further benefit of a utility area with a washing machine/dryer and a host of other conveniences including an iron, vacuum cleaner and cleaning facilities. The property features a kitchenette with a sink, refrigerator, microwave, kettle, toaster and an electric hob top.
A solid poplar tulip wood staircase leads upstairs to a beautiful double bedroom with solid oak flooring and a vaulted ceiling to give a sense of space and light. The bedroom has been stylishly furnished with a chic farmhouse aesthetic with numerous characterful features including a tiled cast-iron feature fireplace with a marble hearth and a desk space ideal for guests wishing to bring a laptop and work.
There are tea and coffee-making facilities with a Lavazza coffee machine, kettle, fridge, microwave and glassware. A secondary glazed window overlooks the Chad Brook and garden area.
A pebbled driveway provides plenty of off-road parking adjacent to the barn itself within the shadow of a mature oak tree. For guests arriving in the spring and summer months, a superb wisteria plant adorns the front of the building providing a splash of lilac colour. Surrounding the barn is a private area of garden adjacent to the river and with an outlook of a willow tree. Pets are welcome but guests should note that due to the size of the property, only one small-medium sized dog is appropriate. The garden cannot be guaranteed to be completely 'dog-proof' and please familiarise yourself with our pet code of conduct/terms of booking on our website.
The property’s location is exceptional being equidistant between two of our area's most sought-after villages: Long Melford and Lavenham. Each within approximately a 5-minute drive, a host of amenities are on hand including numerous restaurants, country pubs, grocery stores, independent retailers and historic attractions. Long Melford contains both Melford Hall, a National Trust-operated manor house, and Kentwell Hall, a private residence periodically open to the public with superb events throughout the year. The Long Melford village green is a fantastic space to stop and admire the view and grab a drink and bite to eat at a high-end gastro-pub, The Black Lion. Lavenham contains the Grade I listed guildhall and a network of medieval streets with a beautiful variety of architecture, primarily timber-framed colourful houses, including parts utilised in the filming of the Harry Potter film series.
The nearby market town of Sudbury operates a market on both Thursday and Saturday and contains a host of further attractions including Gainsborough’s House, a museum and gallery for the famous local artist, Thomas Gainsborough.
The water meadows provide acres of picturesque grounds with miles of footpaths to explore. Slightly further afield, the cathedral town of Bury St Edmunds offers plenty to discover including nearby Ickworth House, another National Trust venue, with stunning park-like grounds. Willow Barn is a fantastic property ideal as a base to explore everything this wonderful region has to offer. Please note that pets are permitted subject to our pet code of conduct.
