Relax the second you arrive at Villa Rustica. Enter the gated,private parking and courtyard surrounded by the mature garden, trees, shrubs and potted plants . settle down in the seating area under the dappled shade from the Acer before wandering around the old oak barn to the 8mx4m pool area with large BBQ/Rostilj, sink, toilet and changing room.With multiple seating and loungers take in the view of the wine growing valley and the village church on the hill and the changing colour of the adjoining 2 acre field. The old farmhouse rising above the courtyard invites you into the oak staired hallway, with house wet room to the left (bath and shower)and twin bedroom to the right.Step forward into the open plan living /dinning/kitchen area . Furnished with 2 large sofas which convert to 2 double beds if required, flat screen TV , Italian dining table. The well fitted kitchen with all you will need during your stay . Upstairs are 2 large double bedrooms each with its own en suite of bath or shower and a 2nd twin bedroom. Air conditioning or humidifiers to each bedroom. the entire house is fitted with gas central heating for winter stays providing piping hot water on demand.
The pool is a rectangle 8m x 4m , underwater stepped entry with none slip black capping for easy see and easy entry , a 4m long underwater seating area to the opposite side to sit and chat in the sun and a long drink. perfect depth for younger persons to paddle and play.
Evenings by the pool are perfected with a well fitted outdoor kitchen area with BBQ and sink to chat away into the night, potentially watching the milky way and shooting stars. light up the pool and rock wall for a subtle party atmosphere .
Walk out onto the single track road and explore the local Wine houses and their vine yards extending down the valley,maybe get invited for a taste of their home made wine, cheese and smoked meats and sausage. It maybe possible we can arrange an evening for your group to have a traditional Rostlj /BBQ with free flowing wine and Sljivavica/Rakija made on site at the wine house.
With lots to see locally - enjoy a walk/jog in the wonderful cycling area around the villa. Find curiosities from old wooden houses , some in disrepair, others in splendor . Pass small farms still living the old ways , fields of crops, woods untouched and full of nature, fishing pools and stables. all with the stunning morning sunrise to the sun setting over Medvedgrad mountain standing proud at the northern end of the great Croatian City Zagreb , only 35 minutes away by car on new motorway connections.
From the property , to the north you can see Kalnik mountain and the 13 teeth of the ridge, where, via a stunning countryside drive of 20 mins you can then walk to the heights, atop the kalnik castle ruins to see the views that seem to stretch forever on a clear day, into the south of the interior.
To try to describe Zagreb , the capital is difficult, cafe's, restaurants and bars abound, architecture from Austro- Hungarian empire, and long before. The old town and new . Theater, opera and ballet at a very affordable price. Museums and shaded garden avenues abound. There is a ski lift to the top of Medvedgrad mountain and sljeme, the ski resort with the viewing platform on the TV tower looking down on the world of inland Croatia.
Varazin 35 minutes, the old baroque capital , once a moated town and castle , cobbled streets and quality restaurants.
