Charming cottage complete with fresh eggs from resident chickens.
The cottage was perfect for our stay â Mum, Son, Grandson. The house was completely furnished with thoughtful amenities like lap blankets along with local honey, fresh eggs and friendly chickens. Our host was helpful giving us complete explanations of all parts of the house. Suggestions: a bigger bathroom/shower mat, a working electric blanket in the smaller bedroom.
Otherwise, everything was delightful.
We had such a lovely time at Patsyâs Cottage. If I could give it ten stars I would. Itâs not just lodging - itâs a truly special experience. The thatched roof cottage is charming, but itâs the outdoors and the hospitality that truly wows!
We sat in the sauna and hot tub and around the outdoor fire pit; fed the horses; hiked the gorgeous land and enjoyed Gerryâs fresh eggs and honey. It was wholesome and delightful.
Gerry is a perfect host and Patsyâs Cottage is a unique and wonderful spot. We loved it and are already planning a return visit.
I canât believe we found this place. Patsyâs Cottage is one of those rare spots that just feels right the moment you arrive. Itâs a beautiful little thatched-roof cottage in the Connemara countryside, with just the right mix of rustic charm and quiet luxury.
The setting is peaceful and surrounded by wildflowers, but itâs still close to a small fishing town where you can grab groceries, shop, or have a pint at the pub. We used it as a home base to explore the regionâbeaches, hikes, historic sitesâbut honestly, we were just as happy staying in.
Thereâs a wood-fired hot tub and sauna, an ice bucket plunge, and fresh eggs every morning from the backyard chickens. Our two daughters loved checking on them each day and running through the field behind the house. We even received fresh honey from the beehives on the property.
If you stay here, be sure to make a stop at the Glengowla Mines, less than a 5-minute drive away. Family-owned for generations, our daughters enjoyed the historic mine tour, and the sheepherding demonstration.
The host was fantastic. Welcoming, thoughtful, and made sure everything was ready for usâfrom walking us through the house when we arrived to prepping the wood-fired hot tub each day. Every detail was taken care of.
This place feels like a hidden gem. Itâs hard to believe it wasnât already booked solid. Weâre already planning to come back. If youâre visiting Ireland, donât skip this spot.
Patsy's cottage is the best place we stayed at during our Summer 24' Irish road trip. A charming thatched wood cottage, beautifully decorated and cleverly arranged, so that we didn't miss anything and there was sufficient space for the 4 of us. The outdoor part brings your stay to the next level, with sauna, jacuzzi, firepit, fresh eggs from the hens everyday, Connemara ponies across the road, fresh potatoes to dig out, flowers everywhere... And the owner Gerry is super available and friendly, always ready to help us feel better : it shows that he's (understandably) proud of the house he built. This place is pure hidden gem, only pity was that we could only book 3 nights there, due to its success. Would recommend a 1000 times to anyone, and already eager to return!
First of all: the owner is one of a kind. I seldomly met such a nice person in my life. Gerry was always there to provide us with fresh eggs, homemade honey, heating the stove and just having a chat. Thanks Gerry, you were awesome.
The cottage itself was quaint and definitely worth the experience although I must say it is too small for four adults. The heating is run additionally through the stove. If you want really hot water and cosy warm rooms you need to light the fire. No problem with Gerry's help who lit the stove for us while we were away for sightseeing. There was plenty of timber and turf all the time.
The cottage is located in the middle of nowhere. If you want to relax and do some digital detox it is perfect.
One last thing. There was actually a washing machine in the cottage which was not in the description on the website. This should be added. Additionally there is everything in the cottage you need (even painkillers if you had too much of a drink).
