We’re genuinely pleased to hear that you found the property spacious, well-equipped, and ideally located for your family holiday. It’s always rewarding to know that guests enjoy the unique character and setting of the home. That said, we were disappointed to read your comments regarding the damage deposit and the management of the umbrella incident. We want to address this matter clearly and fairly. As outlined in our terms and conditions, which all guests agree to prior to their stay, any damage to the property or its contents—whether accidental or not—may result in a partial or full deduction from the security deposit. In this instance, the umbrellas were unfortunately not properly secured, and the damage was beyond minor wear and tear. The fact is that the umbrellas were left open all day even though you, from your own experience know that there is a notorious breeze / wind in Lagos. We understand this may have come as an unwelcome surprise, but the decision was based on the cost of replacement and in line with our standard procedures—not as a punitive measure. Only the actual replacement cost of the damaged items was deducted. We absolutely regret that this marred your overall experience. However, we stand by the professionalism of our team and our responsibility to maintain the property to a high standard for all guests. Regards, Algarve Retreats
