Welcome to our spacious 1925 house in Borrby, in the heart of Österlen. The house has been carefully renovated over the years, with original wooden floors, older furniture and details that preserve its character, while still offering all the comforts needed for a relaxed holiday.
One of the things we love most about the house is its location. Although it is within walking distance of the centre of Borrby, the garden opens directly onto the surrounding countryside, with uninterrupted views across the fields. On exceptionally clear days, you may even catch a distant glimpse of the Baltic Sea and the island of Bornholm.
The house offers around 180 m² of living space over two floors and sleeps up to 9 guests in five bedrooms. It is particularly well suited to families, two families travelling together or several generations sharing a holiday.
On the ground floor there is a spacious family room, a large bedroom, a separate dining room, a fully equipped kitchen, a WC and a generous entrance hall. The kitchen has a small breakfast table for 3–4 people, while the separate dining room has a large table that comfortably seats 10 and can accommodate up to 12 for cosy dinners together.
Upstairs you will find a bright living room, a bathroom and four bedrooms, one of which has an east-facing balcony. All bedrooms have blackout curtains. Two of the upstairs bedrooms are heated by electric radiators rather than central heating and may therefore be slightly cooler during the winter months.
The private, secluded garden is one of the highlights of the house. The large south-west facing terrace looks out across the open fields and has comfortable lounge furniture, two outdoor dining tables, seating for up to 15 guests and a Weber charcoal grill.
One of our favourite features is the outdoor shower with hot water. After a day at the beach, you can take a warm shower while looking out over the fields – and on a very clear day you may even spot the sea and Bornholm in the distance.
The house is well equipped for both relaxing and active holidays. There are two Smart TVs and an additional TV that can be used with an Apple TV or another HDMI streaming device. Guests are also welcome to use the fitness equipment, including dumbbells, kettlebells and yoga mats, as well as board games, a traditional Swedish Kubb game and padel rackets.
Borrby is a charming, well-preserved village in the heart of Österlen, with traditional houses, hollyhocks, antique shops and flea markets. Within walking distance of the house you will find a well-stocked supermarket, bakery, pharmacy, cafés and restaurants. The popular Köpmangatan 6 and Picklebaren are just a short stroll away.
There is also a large football field, a bookable tennis court, padel court and playground nearby, as well as beautiful surroundings for walking, running and cycling.
Some of Österlen’s wonderful white sandy beaches are only a short drive away, including Borrby Strand, Kyhl, Mälarhusen and Sandhammaren. Ystad and Simrishamn are also within easy reach.
The house is easy to reach by public transport. The nearest bus stop, Skräddaregatan, is approximately 200 metres away, with connections towards both Ystad and Simrishamn.
This is our own much-loved holiday home, and we hope our guests will enjoy the space, character, countryside and beaches as much as we do.
