If you're taking the train, this would be an ideal place to stay because it's literally in the shadow of the train station with the famous tile walls. BUT IT'S TERRIBLY INCONVENIENT IF YOU'RE DRIVING like I was. The listing says that parking is provided. THIS IS NOT TRUE! PARKING IS NOT PROVIDED!! It's located on a narrow street where you must try to find a place to stop to unload without blocking a shopkeeper's door and then check into your room (with no assistance from anyone because there's no lobby and no front desk service) and you'll find a parking voucher that you take to the parking garage several kilometers away where you get discounted parking for 10 . After you receive the confirmation of your booking, you get automated messages that try to sell you snacks and tourist excursions but no one explains this complicated parking process to you. I had to ask the AI chat bot, who explained it to me in Portuguese, so I had to translate it into English. The room itself was actually really nice - small like most European hotels, but the AC worked great and the room was nice and cold (not a given in Portugal), the bed was super comfortable, the water pressure in the shower was better than most, the little sink and mini-fridge were handy, but I didn't like that the only human beings working there were the cleaning ladies, who were super nice but only there during certain hours. I didn't feel safe as a woman traveling alone with no one to call in case of emergency.
