Prices are fully inclusive of breakfast. Melody House and Melody Cottage were built around the start of the 14th century as a much larger residence than stands here today. It housed Gt Ryburgh Magnar's Guild Hall under the priory of Walsingham.
Ryburgh Magnar was a very powerful garrison settlement set along the banks of the beautiful River Wensum. It also had 3 fortified manor houses built in close vicinity. Its famous Saxon church with its round tower only stands 200 yards away. From 1656 the Guild Hall under went a great number of works to improve its structure after a fire removed its whole south wing and the introduction of window tax required the loss of a great number of its windows, a grand new gable end was added.
It was then sub-divided into 9 smaller tenement cottages.
It also housed the village provision stores for nearly 400 years and a number of smaller retail outlets.
There are folk law stories of priest stairs and underground tunnels leading to the church and the odd thing that goes bump in the night.
Melody House is a pleasant bed and breakfast place near Fakenham convenient for all of the north Norfolk sites. The room was comfortable and had everything needed and the landlady was very friendly.
Very welcoming and pleasant stay , check in and check out times very accomadating . Breakfast times very genrous.
Me and my boyfriend was upgraded to the senerade room free charge and the ensuite was beautiful,.
Breakfast was lovely, lots to choose from.. Very good value for money. Would come back and stay again.
It was very warm, friendly and welcoming, with a good choice on the breakfast menu.
All the extra touches made a difference. Empty fridge in the room to use, with milk, hotel quality china wear on the tea tray and for meals. Warm fire in the communal lounge was most welcoming on a cold rainy day. Carpeted throughout. Well organized and friendly. Quaint little village, with community run shop selling everything, and a pub next door. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
My accommodation was 1st class and I couldnât have wished for better.
My room was very welcoming, the bed was extremely comfortable and I had a very good nights sleep The en-suite was very well laid out, spotlessly clean and the fact it had a jacuzzi was a real bonus.
