This listing is for Les Vignes - 2 bedroom gite with a small vine covered patio area with garden furniture & a charcoal BBQ. You enter into the open plan kitchen, lounge, diner with exposed stone walls and log burner. On the first floor are a double bedroom and a twin bedroom as well as a bathroom with a shower.
Full of rustic character and recently refreshed and furnished with luxury in mind. Access to shared 10x5m pool and communal games/leisure facilities.. All bedrooms have a fan. French areil and UK Freesat TV is provided as well as WiFi - please note the signal is not strong in this area.
Travel cot, cot bedding, high chair and stair gate are available upon request.
The heated pool is 10x5m with plenty of loungers and cushions, inflatables, toilet and shower and is fenced and secure. The games room has air hockey, table football, table tennis, books, board games, garden games as well as laundry facilities and a bathroom with a bath and large walk in shower.
The garden is fenced and contains swings, slide and wendy house for the children.
Situated in the picturesque Charentaise village of Chaignepain between the market towns of Chef-Boutonne, Melle, Lezay and Sauzé-Vaussais. The village is perfectly placed to provide the peace and tranquility of rural France and easy access to a wealth of local attractions and amenities.
The Poitou-Charentes region of western France is one of the sunniest regions in the country and offers a variety of possibilities for families, adventurers, and romantic escapes alike.
A car is essential in this area as there are no amenities within walking distance other than a Routier on the main road. However, Chef Boutonne, Sauze Vaussais, Lezay and Melle are all within an easy 10-15min drive away with all the amenities you require including quality supermarkets, bakeries, post offices, chemists, weekly markets, bars, restaurants, swimming pools and banks.
There is off-road parking available.
The Charentaise countryside surrounding the gites is flat and rural, bursting with sunflowers during the summer. It is ideal for walking and cycling and we have a selection of bikes which you are welcome to borrow.
There are numerous Chateaux, Romanesque Churches and Abbeys in the area which are open to visitors and a number of inland lakes which offer picnic and sunbathing areas and children’s play areas as well as some water sports. The local rivers have centres where canoes, kayaks, SUPs and pedalos can be hired. Or hire a boat or bicycle at the Marais Poitevin (Green Venice) (45mins) and spend the day winding your way through/around the vast collection of waterways.
Other nearby attractions include the Vallee des Singes (Valley of the Monkeys) (30mins), Zoodysee (30mins), Futuroscope – the park of the moving image at Poitiers (50mins), The Aquarium at La Rochelle (1hr 20mins), La Palmyre Zoo at Royan which is one of the best in France (1hr 45mins) and the Puy du Fou theme park, an amazing historical theme park (1hr 45mins) all of which make for a great day out for all the family.

Cognac with its rolling vineyards is only an hour away where you can tour the many distilleries including the world famous Courvoisier and Hennesy & Martell distilleries on its banks of the river charante. Further afield the vineyards of the Loire valley and those in Bordeaux and the surrounding areas can be reached in just over 2 hours.
We are 1 hour from Angouleme and 1hr 20mins from the historic port of La Rochelle on the west coast of France.
The Atlantic beaches in this part of France are generally shallow and sandy, and often have good surf for body boarding.
We are close to the airports at Poiters (50 mins), La Rochelle (1h 20mins), Limoges (1h 30mins) and Bordeaux (2h) which have low cost flights and car hire available.
The TGV stops at Poitiers where car hire is also available.
The channel ports are within an easy drive; St Malo (4h), Caen and Le Havre(4h 30mins) and Cherbourg (5h). For those coming by Eurostar, Calais is about 7h away.
