We are very pleased to welcome you our lodge, Moorhens' Rest, in an area we love and where our family has holidayed for the past 15 years. You can relax and soak in the lakeside views, enjoy some of the many watersports or nature trails in the local area or soak up the ambiance of historic Cotswolds attractions nearby.
The property lies within an established, secure, gated community in close proximity to the Cotswolds Water Park. The neighbourhood is a good blend of permanent residents and holiday lets, giving it an authentic community feeling. The lodge itself has recently been renovated to an exacting standard, making the downstairs into an open-plan kitchen/lounge/diner with view through the house from the front door to the lake at the back. The south-facing deck at the rear of the lodge has just been extended to nearly double in size.
On entry you will find the kitchen with its large island and range cooker. Food storage shouldn't be an issue with our full sized fridge, pull-out larder, separate freezer and even a wine cooler to chill the bubbly. Washing up is hassle free with the dishwasher and smaller food items can be heated in the wall-mounted combination microwave/oven. The far end of the island can be used as a work space with its seat and pop-up socket/ wireless charger. To the left of the front door you will find the downstairs loo which also contains a washing machine and tumble dryer.
Beyond the kitchen lies the living/dining room. We have a large rectangular dining table with two bench-style seats (and additional chairs) which is perfect for hosting group meals. Alternatively the cosy lounge area comes replete with comfy chairs and a smart TV. For those seeking a moment away from technological interference, the shelves contain a number of books and puzzles/games for either group or solo entertainment.
If you pass through the living area and exit through the french windows you emerge onto the large wooden decking looking onto the lake. The deck has a garden table with four chairs, a small bistro table with two chairs and a gas BBQ for those brilliant summer days. Stepping off the decking (it is gated so pets/small children won't wander off) there is a communal grassy area perfect for ball games or sunbathing and the lake is only ten metres away.
Upstairs you will find three bedrooms. The master bedroom boasts a king sized bed, ample storage, lakeside views and an en-suite with walk-in shower. At the front of the house there is a double bedroom with built--in wardrobe and a twin bedroom with stacking single beds. Between the two lies the main bathroom with a bath/double shower.
Each lodge is allowed a maximum of two parking spaces.
On-site facilities include tennis courts, playing fields, table tennis, pool tables, a childrens play area, giant chess as well as fishing facilities. The local area is criss-crossed by various walking routes and extensive cycle paths. Neighbouring lakes also cater to almost every watersport you can think of.
For eating out, there is a wide variety of local options, from classic pub lunch to delicious Indian-English fusion and Thai. Several are within walking distance. For shopping, there's a small Coop in South Cerney, but large Tesco Extra, Waitrose, Asda, Sainsburys, M&S food within 10-15 minutes drive in either Cirencester or Swindon.
Note: Windrush lake (our lake) is suitable for watersports such as kayaking or paddleboarding, but not for swimming.
