Well equipped house with great views over Funchal. It had everything you need including a large garage. Good size rooms. Beds were a bit hard though. Shower heads need replacing as it was like using a hose pipe. The house is on a steep hill in case you are on foot so be aware. Ana was helpful and quick to respond to our queries.
The arrival and check in was ok, the location was good but tricky to park as the garage was unavailable and one of the bathrooms was in the garage. There was no tea or coffee on arrival and we were hoping to have a cuppa on arrival. Work was being carried out throughtout our stay so no chance of relaxing. That said rhe location was beautiful. Although there was a washing machine there was no powder provided and the smallest box in the supermarket would have lasted us a month. Beautiful location and very clean
We had a lovely holiday in this apartment. The location was very central, yet peaceful. The house was well equipped and the view from the terrace was amazing!
Great rental property, responsive owner who has his sister in law as an English translator and the views are to die for. The walk up the hill to the home is difficult but relatively short and quite doable
We stayed here for approximately two weeks while searching for a long-term lease in Funchal. JoĂŁo kindly booked an airport transfer for us and our small dog. The apartment was clean and spacious, with a spectacular private balcony. The price seemed very fair for Funchal, and quite amazing for us from the US. Walking to the center of town was pleasant and easy, with only a very short (but somewhat steep) uphill stretch on the way back home. La Vie (a very nice mall) is a few blocks away and is basically on the way to or from anywhere â there you can find a full grocery store on the lowest floor. JoĂŁo kindly tolerated my poor Portuguese, and when we needed anything beyond what his English or my Portuguese would allow we could call his assistant Carmo, who spoke wonderful English. We would gladly stay there again!
Joao was a great host. Our flight was late arriving in Madeira, we arrived at Joao's place at 3am. and had no issues accessing the house. Joao had left everything arranged for our late arrival. The property was clean and spacious in nice overall condition, it is well situated on a hill with a nice view overlooking the harbour and the city and also close to a Continent grocery store. The property has a large garage for anyone renting a car. It is a short walk to the center of Funchal, it could be tiring walking back home if you are not much of a walker, but that was not an issue for us since we like to walk. Overall we were happy with our choice and would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Funchal.
My wife and I can confirm the positive judgment of other guests. The landlord is very friendly and accommodating and responded to our special requests. The big plus of the accommodation is its hillside location in a quiet cul-de-sac in Funchal, with wonderful views of the city and harbor from the terrace. The terrace is on the east side, so it is very hot there in the morning, but in the afternoon and evening you can sit comfortably in the shade (a parasol is also available). The bedrooms are small, but offer enough storage space in wardrobes that you don't have to live out of your suitcase. Everything you need is available in the kitchen, and the living room and dining area is inviting and feels comfortable. If you are traveling with a rental car, you can use the spacious garage for parking. We just wish there was better insect protection. We can recommend the accommodation without reservation.
Good size apartment/house with an amazing view to Funchal.
There was an issue with the hot water but was resolved within two days.
Very clean and comfortable.
