Nice quiet neighborhood, the lake that it was on is very peaceful. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. Would rent again if i come back to the area.
Our second time staying at this property. Our family had fun swimming and fishing from the pier. The large deck was fantastic with the view of the lake. Can't wait to stay again.
This property is very clean. The lake view is beautiful especially now as the colors are changing. It is close to a restaurant that opens at 4. It is close to a local wedding venue. The owner is very quick to respond and was accommodating.
arrive early
House was prefect for our family. House was very clean. Nice deck with gas grill and great lake side yard. Plenty of room for outdoor games. The view is very relaxing as you look out at across the lake at forest. Many different birds including Bald Eagles and lots of geese.
Layout of house is nice, with master bedroom at one end and two other bedrooms on the opposite end. Nice sized kitchen. Based on other reviews, we brought additional towels and blankets. Beautiful large deck with plenty of seating with views of the lake. We enjoyed our stay.
We traveled from out of town to attend a wedding on a local farm. The lake house was a perfect location. The weather was a little challenging but we made it thru. Cannot wait to stay again in the summer so we can enjoy the lake more with our family. The home had everything we needed thank you.
The house was very clean. It has several upgrades. There was a new couch, gas grill, new refrigerator, and bench on dock. The lake was great for fishing, swimming, boating, and kayaking. This is a very relaxing place to spend a week.
Large home with a great deck and dock to view the eagles, swans, herons and geese. Pan fishing was excellent right off the dock, even caught a large bass. We rented a pontoon and enjoyed the chain of three lakes. The house was so large that we did not use the dining area or the living room; spent all of our time on the deck and the attached family room/kitchen area.
House has decent curb appeal and liked the layout of house. Has neat nautical theme. Has nice dock to dock boat and fish from. Kids enjoyed fishing from dock. Bring your own water and blankets if cold at night. Bedding, dishwater, and plumbing fixtures could use update. Overall we had a good time and would recommend if youâre used to typical lake house issues.
We thought this place was great. Nice quiet spot on a small, peaceful, secluded lake. The star gazing was amazing. Tons of room and amenities. Our only complaint, the beds are incredibly uncomfortable, and the king bed in the master bedroom was brutal to sleep on... in fact, it kept us up and in discomfort. You can't fix a saggy mattress with a topper. It's still a saggy mattress. Otherwise, awesome place!
We enjoyed our weekend even though we had a lot of rain. Visited Shipshewana as it was not that far south from the house. The lake looked wonderful even though weather did not permit us to enjoy it. Couple of items worth noting are the front door really needs a step added. It is a giant step down going out which can surprise you. Also the plateware has a gold metallic ring design which when used in microwave will spark. Not good. We used paper towel to heat items in the microwave. Overall a nice quiet neighborhood on what looks like a good fishing lake!
I paid in full 10 months before my daughterâs wedding so this would be one less stressor. One week before check in the owner said we owed an additional 192 dollars because rates change in January. I tried to call him as I didnât understand and he didnât answer. He told me to contact VRBO if I had an issue. I did and they told me he cannot raise the rate and that they would reach out and warn him about his behavior. Even after all of that, he still insisted we owed him. A review in June 2024 noted that the owner said they owed more money so this appears to be a pattern.
Thankfully we were able to stay despite this âoutstanding balance.â The place was very nice. Bring drinking water if you do rent from him.
We just returned from a beautiful stay in this nice home. Saddlebag lake is beautiful to capture amazing sunsets and enjoy access to the bigger lakes for amazing swimming.
The house came stocked with all amenities as listed. Only a few minor obstacles were noticed. Nothing that was a surprise or hindered our vacation.
The initial step into the house is quite large. Those with bad knees can grab two of the wooden blocks in front of the garage to assist with the step.
If you have never lived in a house on the lake, the well water is full of a lot of iron and other natural minerals. This wreaks havoc on shower heads and toilets. The master toilet works fine, the second bathroom does not. As with the shower heads. The master worked fine and met all our bathing needs.
The wifi reaches quite a distance, in fact two houses away and still connected. For some reason it does not work in the master bath, for men who like to scroll or read in their morning routines.
The owner was easy to communicate with and very responsive. He has several pontoon options for rent. Note as of July 18th there is a no wake warning on the lake by order of the Sheriff. The water level is exceedingly high. A number of neighboring piers are under water, and water is above the shoreline.
Overall, we had an amazing stay and would happily return again next year! Thank you to the owner for making you home available to others at a reasonable cost!
This listing was accurate, and the outdoor space was lovely. The inside of the home was clean and neat. The beds were comfortable. However, there were a number of issues that made our stay less than ideal. On check in day, the owner asked for additional money, above and beyond the full amount I paid 10 months prior. The toilet in the primary bathroom did not work, and the one in the secondary bathroom struggled but was usable. For a party of 6, each bathroom was stocked with only one towel each (no hand towels or wash cloths) and one personal sized soap--no shampoo or conditioner, so we made a trip to the dollar store, which was very inconvenient since we were in Marcellus to attend a rehearsal dinner and wedding and did not have much extra time. We were unable to access the WIFI, and the service in that area for Verizon phones is very, very poor. The working bathroom door did not lock, and the shower water ran gritty, so getting ready for our daughter's wedding (90 degree day) was unpleasant. The biggest issue for our family was the water quality. We live in the country and are used to well water, but we found this water undrinkable. We did not come prepared with bottled water. Although a Keurig was available, there were no K Cups in sight and honestly, I would not drink coffee made with this water. Bring your own drinking water, bath towels, beach towels, soap and shampoo.
