We visited Juniper Lodge at the end of July and had a really lovely stay. We had booked a few days away for my dadĂąâŹâąs 80th birthday and from what we could see, many other celebrations were also going on in the nearby lodges. Thankfully everyone was respectful and it wasnĂąâŹâąt noisy late into the night. The lodge itself was spacious and just what we needed. I do have to agree with previous reviews in that it wasnĂąâŹâąt as clean as it could have been, and there didnĂąâŹâąt look to be any storage for the mops and brushes which were left standing by the kitchen and living room, quite dirty and dusty which I donĂąâŹâąt think was good enough. Perhaps organising a lock up cupboard outside might help? The bed linen was clean and there was plenty of fresh towels although it helped we brought beach towels for the hot tub. The bathroom and kitchen, oven etc were also clean. Sadly for us, we completely forgot about loo roll and there wasnĂąâŹâąt even half a roll left in either bathroom or en-suite which I thought was a bit miserly- so donĂąâŹâąt forget your loo roll/bin bags/ kitchen spray and dishcloths etc as nothing at all is provided. We just about managed to pop our bin bags into the bin as the bin was almost full when we got there. There is parking for 2 cars at the front which we had but it was shared by the lodge next door which we hadnĂąâŹâąt realised, so the first day we parked at the other end of the lodge but ended up getting blocked in. We would recommend using the small car park situated close by and itĂąâŹâąs no bother to use. The hot tub was a welcome addition. We brought our Labrador with us and there was plenty room, and a short walk away was an offlead area leading to a geese filled lake which was lovely. (Dogs back on lead at the lake). We did have an issue with the smoke detector in our room beeping, and had a very helpful response from the proprietor who told us where to find the batteries but we couldnĂąâŹâąt seem to get it sorted, so I hope it was fixed in the end. The ruined hall at the entrance to the estate is rather splendid, and as a side note was sold in Feb (for ĂÂŁ265k- we couldnĂąâŹâąt believe it!!), so we are hoping if we visit again we will be able to see it return to its former glory as there are some beautiful details on this old Georgian building. Overall the location in Otterburn was pretty good for the coast and various days out etc and the estate which houses the lodges was well kept. We would absolutely stay again and very much enjoyed the beautiful starry sky, hot tub and walks, it was just a shame that the cleaning let it down a bit (and we arenĂąâŹâąt precious we have a large mucky dog after all!)
