Squirrels Nest

Ideal for couples or a small family, Squirrels Nest can be found in a lovely rural location in the village of Rookley, with a network of wonderful countryside walks and bike rides available to explore straight from its door.



This well presented, holiday home which sits alongside the owner’s main residence is dog friendly and can accommodate up to three guests, the accommodation comprises of one spacious and beautifully sunny bedroom with en-suite shower-room, It features a fully fitted kitchen, large sitting room with log burner and a private decking area with bike shed to its rear. The bedroom with its fantastically comfortable super king bed, can be offered as two singles on request

.

The kitchen is well equipped with cooker, dishwasher, fridge freezer and washing machine The sitting room has a dining table to seat four, a large sofa and a cosy log burning stove. A single sofa bed is available for a third person staying if required. Externally you have a spacious driveway with parking available right outside your front door, whilst to the rear you have a private decking area with bike shed.

LOCATION:



Rookley is a beautiful village conveniently located five kilometres south of Newport near the centre of the island. It has a country park on the site of the last working Isle of Wight brickworks. There is a swimming pool and pub at the country park and another pub , the “Chequers Inn ”, a short distance from the village. The area is well served by buses to both Newport and the nearby pretty, coastal town of Ventnor.

ONE LEVEL - ANNEXE BUNGALOW

Open plan living space:

Living area: wood burner, sofa and Freeview Smart TV (and a single sofa bed can be made available on request)

Kitchen diner: electric oven, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, fridge/freezer, dining table and chairs

Bedroom: super king bed (can be made into a twin on request), wardrobe, bedside cabinet and Smart TV, with access to courtyard

En-Suite: shower cubicle, toilet and wash basin



OUTSIDE

Private enclosed decked courtyard, with garden furniture and barbecue (access via the bedroom)

Private parking for 1 car at front of the property.

PLEASE NOTE: a pre-authorised, refundable, security deposit of ÂŁ150 will be required before arrival at the property. No money will be taken unless any damage is reported at the property within 14 days of your departure.



This property can accept a maximum of 1 pet(s). The charge is ÂŁ35 per pet, per week and we kindly ask that you bring your own bedding for your pet(s). Please ensure that you correctly add your pet(s) when making your booking, so this additional cost is included. If it becomes apparent that you have brought a pet(s) with you but did not advise us, we will contact you to request payment separately.



There is no electric car charger on site and guests are prohibited from using the mains electric in the property to charge a car, unless agreed prior with the owner of the property. If it becomes apparent a car is being charged without approval, then the guest may be charged an additional amount to cover the extra cost.

No stag or hen parties are permitted at any of our properties.



There is a strict no smoking/vaping policy, inside all our properties.



Linens and towels are provided, but please bring your own beach towels and cot linen as necessary.



Initial fuel and logs for multi-fuel / wood burners will be supplied at the beginning of your stay. Guests will be required to purchase more if required.



Please be respectful of the property and the neighbours during your stay; leaving the property as you found it on your arrival

Such a lovely accommodation. I found it was perfectly central to everything. We had a wonderful time. Clean. We had a lovely welcome from the host who was so helpful throughout our stay. So we'll equipped, everything you could possibly need. Nothing 10/10!

Liz was a fantastic host right from the word go phone calls & messages, showed me round & told me about the area and good dog walking spots. Liz went over and above with all aspects and helped me with my future by printing off some info for me. The home was immaculate and welcoming a beautiful little get away in rolling countryside. A top place and a perfect host.

Squirrel’s Nest was spotlessly clean, comfortable and warm

Squirrel’s Nest was spotlessly clean, comfortable and warm. On the two sunny days that we had, sitting outside in the small courtyard was a pleasure - secluded and sheltered. The property was well supplied with leaflets about various IoW attractions, many of which we visited. With its central location you are never from anywhere on the island though the roads can be slow going at times! The owners, who live next door were friendly and helpful and not in the least intrusive. We cannot recommend this property highly enough.

Nice little annex but perhaps less suitable for over 70s

Property has a lovely large bed. Kitchen is a good size as is sitting room. Steps up to front door. Settee not so comfortable for over 70s. Bathroom small and no shelf. Had to put electric toothbrushes and teeth cleaning stuff in kitchen. Put mirror for drying hair on dining table as no facility in bedroom. Windows were dirty inside and out. Door to outside at back dirty as was front door. Shower cubicle and ceiling were mouldy. Bathroom door touch points dirty.

A wonderful stay!

Thank you to Liz for her warm welcome and for providing such a lovely, well thought out place to stay. Squirrels Nest is well equipped, with homely touches and a good base for exploring. There's much to see and do and the facilities of Newport are only a short distance away. We'd definitely recommend it.

Great Place

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Squirrel’s Nest. The property was very clean and fresh, and well equipped. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The location is ideal being in the centre of the island and on a bus route. We also enjoyed walks up the lane which had lovely views across the hills.
