Lovely stay
Comfortable, relaxing stay with plenty of space for our 9-person group, with ages from 2 to grandparent.
Overall, this is a well-set-up trio of units (plus a caravan) in a rural setting with a combination of privacy and plenty of common spaces, and a good pool.
Multiple positives:
+ Well-equipped kitchen for large groups provided plenty to work with
+ Separate housing units gave privacy
+ Individual keys for each room meant coming and going is easy to do, together or in small, separate groups.
+ Air conditioning in upper floor rooms (2 per unit in the 3-bedroom units)
+ Plenty of easy parking
+ Multiple extras available, e.g., portable baby crib, high chair, grill
+ Outdoor space is wide open with several features (pizza oven, etc.)
+ Pool has a gradual staircase that works well for young non-swimmers
+ Lovely nearby winemakers
+ Near a number of interesting yet not overrun destinations, from the city of Angers (30 min) to Chateau Brissac (15 minutes) to Puy du Fou (1 hour) to riverside villages along the Loire to … Plenty to go and do and see.
We must also thank our hosts, Denis and Vincent, for their many recommendations - including their traditional restaurant dug into the limestone, friends who run wineries, restaurants, and cultural sites. They know the area extremely well.
A few notes to ensure the right fit with your group:
> Air conditioning in 4 units, not in the 2 ground floor units in 3-bedroom units, not in the one BR in the main living area/kitchen, and not one in the caravan. Even with 30-degree-plus days, this was not an issue - except in the caravan, which does get hot. The owners were very open and honest about this.
> Pool was available after cleaning each morning at around 10am (or sooner; as soon as it’s clean) - so no early morning swims
> No walkable bakeries - short drive (5-10 minutes, depending what you choose - or restaurants, etc. It’s a rural setting so should not be a surprise.
And finally, the personal touch from Denis and Vincent throughout added a feeling of having local friends to the experience. Thank you both :-)
