Charming cottage which is furnished to a high specification, overlooking the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal located within the highly desirable village of Hopwas.
The location is perfect for a romantic getaways, family retreats and walking holidays.
There are two excellent country pubs literally on the doorstep of the property which are perfect for a few drinks or a nice meal.
The location means its only a short drive to Lichfield or Tamworth.
There is 1 x external CCTV camera at the property above the front door for guest security and to protect the property when not occupied, the camera will be switched on.
The property is situated right on the canal toe path. .
A perfect location for a relaxing holiday. Ideal with 2 pubs very close by for food and drink.
Lots of lovely walks to go on. Ideal with the dogs. Lovely sitting outside in the sun watching people and boats going past. Lovely decorated and clean accommodation.
We were a little apprehensive about the vicinity of the A51, but did not find this intrusive. It was a gentle pleasure to see the canal boats going past, and the children on their morning route to the village primary school.
We had a wonderful trip. The house was just as advertised. It was so much fun being in the canal and seeing all of the boats pass by. Wondefuul walking trail and the pubs nearby were top notch. The town has a lot to offer. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
Perfect property, Perfect location.
Everything you would possibly need in the house.
Lovely walks and good local pubs across the road. Friendly, helpful host.
Good property on side of canal. Have to park at pub & walk along towpath for about 20 yards under bridge (no issue for us). 2 great pubs - Tame Otter was outstanding. Bit noisy as main road bridge right next to property - but you canât have it all!! Beds very comfortable & nicely furnished. Great for a few days.
The property was just what we needed. I met my daughter and we stayed for two nights, travelling the short distance to the NEC for a show. Parking was good. The kitchen well equipped. The place was comfortable and warm. Would rebook again. Plus the crisps, cookies and range of tea and coffee was a lovely touch.
We had a really lovely short stay at Swiss Cottage. Great location for shopping, snowdome and other attractions but equally great for a quiet stay enjoying walking by the canal.
Swiss Cottage was exactly what we were after. Charming cottage with everything you needed right there. Lovely touches with a welcome basket, toiletries, games etc. The kids are asking when we can go back! Thank you
Me and my wife took our 2 kids (8&3) to thomas land and stayed in the property which was just 10 mins drive away which was idiliic. Beautiful house in a stunning location overlooking the canal. The kids LOVED watching the boats and ducks. Lovely welcome hamper and water and pint of milk in the fridge. Included stair gates, games, tvâs in the rooms was brilliant. And 2 nice pubs within throwing distance. Would highly highly recommend.
We had lovely weather and spent a lot of time sitting outside the cottage with a glass of wine while chatting to all the narrowboat owners passing by. Definitely take bird feed for all the ducks on the doorstep and the moorhens. Dog had 6 walks a day up and down the canal, he was in doggy heaven. Pubs right on the doorstep. Hope to return. xx
I feel very fortunate to have found this pretty canal-side property in Hopwas
Itâs about a 40 minute drive to Derby where I was visiting family .
The property is really unusual being on the canal tow path next to a gorgeous pub âthe tame otterâ
the property itself has everything you need and has a lovely cosy feel to it
although thereâs not no direct parking outside it wasnât a problem as you can park at the pub and itâs literally only a few metres to the front door walking under the canal bridge. .
The Tame Otter pub is also really worth a visit my daughter and I had a lovely meal there and they catered easily for her vegan diet
I absolutely loved my stay at the cottage
Iâm just sorry to be going home so early.
Hope to return very soon â€ïž
We stayed at Swiss Cottage for a short 3 night New Year's break. What a wonderful cottage in the most idyllic setting and perfect location on the canal towpath. Miles and miles of excellent walking, our miniature Dachshund Bobby was in his element. Whittington is a beautiful chocolate box village to visit and well worth the 8 miles walk round trip, the 2 pubs there were very nice and a welcome break mid walk.
Swiss Cottage is a stones throw from 2 excellent pubs both serving fabulous food, the little social club also a stones throw in the opposite direction is also worth a visit, the locals where very friendly and welcomed us everywhere we went.
Our host Laura was very helpful and the welcome pack was much appreciated too especially the bubbles to celebrate the New Year.
The cottage was the envy of so many locals we spoke to and there were many.
We had the most wonderful and memorable time and New Year in Swiss Cottage in Hopwas. We would highly recommend it and will definately be returning.

Hello Laura,
Thank you for the use of your cottage and I did have a nice time. However, I sadly do think I should point out a few things.
The downstairs bathroom sink water is regurgitating up the shower waste and there were dirty particles within in. This was worse when I emptied a full sink of water. It also had a mild smell when that happened. The towel rail there is also very hot to touch.
The tap in the kitchen sink is rather wobbly. The microwave is not safe to use in its current position above the fridge freezer due to its height. I saw there was a collapsible step, which I'm guessing is to help with this problem, but again poses a safety issue.
There was a smell, I think from the kitchen sink, on Sunday eve which eased by Monday eve. It was acidic and not unlike cat pee. It did go away though and I suspect it's a drain issue.
I do think the addition of an access statement to your listing would be pragmatic. I found the stairs, in parts, to be difficult as there is not a continuous hand rail. They were also a little steeper than I'm used to. I had no idea the ensuite double was on a second floor and it did cause me some difficulty with my arthritis. It would also be helpful for other guests to know parking is a couple of hundred yards away and in a pub overflow car park.
The sink in the ensuite does not, as I see from the label you have placed on it, provide any hot water. I do believe this is a basic sanitary requirement for all bathrooms used by any member of the
The swiss cottage was a perfect place to stay. Two great restaurants nearby, very comfortable beds. Made friends with the local ducks that stop by for a bite to eat and to hang out. Highly recommend to stay and will definitely be back in the future!
We stayed as four adults- lovely walks and pubs around. We did the quiz at the Fox and ate at the Tame Otter. We also visited Lichfield and the National Arboretum
The cottage is warm and comfortable and we enjoyed our stay very much. The welcome pack was much appreciated.
Originally tried to book hotels in Birmingham but they were fully booked. We would never have found this beauty of a place otherwise. Beautiful holiday house, location is just amazing. Loved watching the ducks and the barges. The sunny weather just rounded off a great weekend.
