Picturesque location near Prince's Point in Brunswick. Hosts were very kind, responsive, and accomodating and reside in another house on the property. Our family of 4 had a great time between trips to local beaches, hikes, restaurants, lobster rolls, and just hanging out to enjoy the view.
We had a lovely time here. The house is "rustic" but very functional with a well stocked kitchen and on the most gorgeous property possible. My daughter loved staying in the bunk beds and swinging on the tree swing. We enjoyed lobster rolls outside overlooking the water, and enjoyed the quiet. The house is also extremely close to fantastic restaurants and hiking. Kristin was very communicative and friendly. We would gladly stay here again.
The spot is amazing - beautiful views of the ocean and inlets, quiet and the dock provided first class views and a spot to have coffee, watch the wildlife and tides, and launch kayaks from. The location was above expectations and we had a lovely stay. The house is rustic and was very comfortable for us. Note there is no washer/dryer and no dishwasher. We enjoyed cooking multiple dinners and used the gas grill. The house is close to multiple restaurants and we had lobster rolls for multiple lunches. It was hot our first day and the windows provided ample ventilation and there were several fans in the house which also helped keep it cool. The weather cooled after the first day. We had a fantastic day and our hosts were very helpful and available for information both ahead of and during our stay. I recommend this place highly
The host, Kristin, was responsive to all communications and super welcoming. Her property is located in a beautiful Maine settingâwooded, off the beaten path, and on the waterfront. Highly recommended for a quiet, peaceful stay!
We loved the private and quiet location with inlet water views from most rooms in the cottage and seating on the large grassy backyard leading to the water. Lots of natural light throughout, and the kitchen had all the supplies we needed.
Kristen is a great host and super responsive to messages. Cottage was just like pictures and very clean. Didnt realize that the host house was about 100 feet away but was not an issue for us.
We had a gals weekend on this cottage that is right on the water. The views were breathtaking and peaceful. Four adults each had their own bed. Itâs cozy and the owner was so hospitable and friendly. Loved it!!
We stayed in this cute house for our son's graduation from Bowdoin College. We chose it for the location and what a great choice. We had quick access into Brunswick in the most beautiful setting on the cove. We spent a relaxing day on the lawn following graduation watching the wildlife in the cove. My 12 year old neice loved swinging in the hammock and on the bouy swing. The house is simple but clean. Perfect when you cant resist being outdoors in this spot anyway! Thanks for the great stay Kristin! We will be back I am sure:)
Our stay was wonderful! The view and setting of this property was stunning! It is on a waterfront point with beautiful views. We enjoyed watching the many birds and bald eagles, the changing tides, incredibly relaxing. Spent a lot of time in those Adirondack chairs in the photos. Kayaking from this property was fantastic, so many places to explore. And the hosts were helpful with suggestions.
The cottage was very comfortable, soft sofas, good bed, kitchen nicely supplied, everything worked well. And so quiet for sleeping. The structure itself is old, squeaky floors, doors that stick a little, a true Maine cottage. But things that mattered like screens on the windows, good hot water pressure were very good. None of the Maine charm detracted from our comfort or our enjoyment of the property. I definitely plan to stay with Kristin and Paul again. We had a perfect vacation.
The location and views here are absolutely stunning unfortunately the cabin could use some updates and a deep clean. We were stunned by the waterfront views and great location. Unfortunately our experience inside the cabin was disappointing. Guests are asked to stay on the main floor due to the state of disrepair and damp upper/lower levels. The entire place has a smell of must/dust. While there are childrenâs toys and travel crib, the crib is old and very musty and we felt that we were constantly keeping an eye on our younger children to keep them safe.
Additionally when we arrived, the cabin had not yet been cleaned. While the owner was prompt to send a cleaner and said that there had been a mix up on scheduling, it was an inconvenience for us.
Lastly, it should be noted that the property is secluded on the water but the ownerâs home is right across the yard by the rental.
We would return for the views and location, but only if the cabin had significant cleaning/updates done. It did not feel like an easy/preferred location for a family with children.
Very unique property. Right on the bay. Renting this property is more of an experience- the house is authentic Maine patina, perhaps not for everyone but we loved it. Kitchen extremely well stocked, we actually did some baking which we wouldnât typically do at a VRBO. Had everything we needed. Use of the dock and grounds is an exceptional amenity. We hope to return.
Kristin was very welcoming, she took the time to show us the property and left notes of all the places around (restaurants, beaches, hiking). A lot of stuff was available in the cottage (beach chairs, fishing rods, board games), which was very convenient. The cottage had 3 bedrooms, with an amazing view on the bay. The bathroom was small but functional. I highly recommend this property!
Our stay was great! Kids loved there own rooms, loved the lake and everything about it. Beautiful lake and location. Property manager was just as sweet as the house!! Will so go back had a blast!
I have been to Maine many, many times over the past 3+ decades, but I have never seen a location as beautiful as this property. The guest house I stayed in is a 3-bedroom yet is very cozy. It was clean and comfortable, and nothing was forgotten â games, movies, kitchen gear (including a huge pot for cooking lobster!).
The localeâŠamazing, gorgeous, peaceful, did I mention gorgeous? I saw no shops, tourists - even paved roads! Just nature in her splendor. Deer, turkeys, osprey, and owls. I could go on and on (and on). I asked to purchase the property, to no avail.
Kristin is an excellent host â from the welcome basket of snacks, wine, and chocolate, to bringing me fresh-baked pumpkin bars before I departed. I think she is underpricing the experience of staying at this place.
The striped bass fishing, crab catching, and kayaking right from the property were absolutely phenomenal! There is a small nature preserve directly across the water that was fun to hike and explore. Beaches were approximately a 40 minute drive. Brunswick was a short drive and offered a convenient shopping and dining area.
Having rented numerous coastal homes in the past, this home was the least maintained we've experienced. From the landscaping and out building neglect and the disrepair indoors including the electric in the home, there were many things needing attention. We don't require perfection in a rental property but do expect to feel comfortable when renting a home for a week. That was difficult on this property. Another note is the very close proximity of the owner's home to the rental cottage. They were very friendly and congenial and not intrusive at all but we didn't fully realize the lay out of the estate when booking.
We had a lovely three-weeks in this superbly-located cottage between two tidal coves. Although this tranquil setting feels a million miles from civilization, it is a mere 15 minutes from the center of charming Brunswick and ten minutes from Cookâs Corner shopping center as well as an easy forty-minute ride from glorious, sandy Popham Beach.
We swam off the dock, kayaked, took morning walks, read under shade trees with a perfect view of the water and wildlife, hiked and ate fresh seafood from Gurney Trading Company which is only a five-minute drive away. Because of the breeze, there were fewer mosquitos than any other place we have stayed in Maine and we were able to eat dinner outdoors almost every night.
Our very hospitable and accommodating host responded to anything we asked for immediately. She even let us set up a tent outside for our very active grandkids.
The cottage is certainly not fancy and it was a bit small when my daughterâs family arrived and there were six of us. Since it was an old house and a bit oddly arranged, the refrigerator was down a few steps in another room from the kitchen, but if your priorities are location, location, location plus peace and quiet, you will find it here. We hope to return again next year.
We were very happy to have the chance to stay at this cottage. It was very cozy and a classic Maine cottage feel in a remote area yet only a few minutes to town. Such a peaceful setting and a nice property to explore. Loved being by the water and watching the boats, hearing the birds, and watching all the wildlife around us. Kristin was very welcoming and nearby on the property if we needed anything . She checked in with us frequently to make sure we had what we needed to enjoy our stay. We would definitely stay here again!
The property could not have been anymore amazing. The views were breathtaking and the property owners made us feel right at home. Everything that the Maine coast has to offer was right outside our door. Canât wait to get back.
Positives:
âą Kristin and Paul were very pleasant and accommodating, yet low profile. They immediately took care of the only issue we had (shower/tub did not drain).
âą Beautiful, peaceful, secluded location on a point separating 2 inland coves through which 8-9â tidal waters flow twice daily. This was best viewed from the Adirondack chairs by the cottage, or through the kitchen window. You canât help becoming in tune with the tides.
âą Zero road noise.
âą Lots of local dirt roads for peaceful walks; can do 2+ miles without ever touching pavement.
âą Great kayaking. Seaspray Kayaks in Brunswick will deliver and pick up right to the cottage. We rented 2 kayaks for 8 days, so had access to them whenever we wanted. Note of caution: you need to pay attention to tides and winds, as the currents can be fierce between high and low tides. However, kayaking during the 1-2 hour slack water at high or low tide is wonderful.
âą Very little light pollution, so stars are very bright.
âą Lots of wildlife, deer families, turkeys, ducks, herons, cormorants, seals, swimming squirrels (!). Eaglesâ nest at far end of an island you can kayak to at slack water.
âą Close enough to Brunswick so trips into town and farther afield are easy compared to cottages further down in Harpswell. Convenient to Brunswick Landing (former Naval Air Station), which has a great deli/bakery called Wild Oats where we sometimes picked up prepared foods for dinners, and a lively brew pub next door called Flight Deck Brewing.
Negatives:
âą We agree with a previous reviewer who said that these accommodations were not elegant. Everything worked, but this place needs some owner TLC, with upgrading (e.g., electrical system needs grounded outlets; scary using metal appliances like the microwave and toaster without proper grounding), updating (bathroom fixtures) and some much needed cosmetic work (structural repairs, exterior painting). We take good care of our own home and seeing so many things that should be fixed or improved detracted from our vacation experience.
âą Limited lighting options in central living room/kitchen/dining room area. Currently only 2 very bright overheads, one pull chain lightbulb over kitchen sink, and one ceiling-pointing floor lamp in a corner. No options for softer lighting in this key area of the cottage. This could easily be fixed with couple desk, counter or floor lamps.
âą Refrigerator is 3 steps down out of kitchen in another room; convenience issue.
We had a very nice stay. The location is secluded along the water, beautiful views. However it is close to town and routes to Portland, the coast with lots of activities! Host recommended a wonderful restaurant called Dolphin Marina with beautiful views! We had a great stay!
Incredible getaway with incredible views and water access. Beautiful serene place to watch wildlife., soak up the sun and wander through nature on the surrounding trails. We are already planning our trip back in the fall! Kristin was attentive but we felt like we had the place to ourselves.
