Stunning Gite, private garden, large heated pool, tranquil and historic setting
** Please note that we are unable to accommodate children under 13 years old **
Gite Delphine with its blue Provence shutters, is a charming property with its own private garden and large terrace. Delphine is set within a small private historic hamlet which consists of one other gite, about 25m away, barns and ancient stone cottage. The pool is shared with our other gite that sleeps 4.
As you approach Delphine along the parasol pine tree lined drive, and Delphine comes into view, it would be difficult not to be enchanted.
Delphine has a large open plan kitchen, dining and living with direct access to the large terrace for al fresco dining and relaxing. The kitchen is fully fitted and includes a dishwasher. The living area has a comfy settee and a traditional log burner.
The ground floor ensuite bedroom (accessed via the living room) can be configured as either a twin or superking room. This bedroom has a vaulted ceiling with original exposed beams and direct access to the terrace. There is also an ensuite shower room.
The first floor king size ensuite bedroom is accessed via a wooden spiral staircase. There is also a vaulted ceiling with original wooden beams and the ensuite has both a bath and over bath shower.
The pool area is nestled at the lower part of the property and is accessed via private stone steps from the driveway. The large 10x5m heated pool has a lovely sun drenched terrace. The pool is shared with our other gite.
Outside you will also find the laundry room which includes clothes airers and a selection of books you to enjoy during your stay.
Delphine is completely private in her own right however, should you wish to holiday with two parties or a larger family, please take a look at our other gite - Gite Estelle.
If you want a break from relaxing by the pool or exploring the grounds at La Terrisse, there are plenty of things to do in the local area: * 'Parc en Ciel' is about 8km away from the property and is a fantastic aerial assault course, suitable for all ages and in a lovely wooded valley with gorgeous pool area making a great day out ). * There are many companies that offer canoeing or boat hire down the beautiful Dordogne or Lot rivers. You can choose the distance you cover and stop off to visit villages or picnic along the way. * The region is rich in history and has numerous castles and bastide (walled) towns to visit. We are particularly fond of Monpazier and Monflanquin (about 20km away), which are beautiful towns with craft and antique shops and plenty of excellent cafes and restaurants. Chateau Bonaguil is 8 km away from the property and is well worth a visit (). We also love the much smaller chateau at Gavaudun, with it's access staircase cut into the rock (6km away). * In the summer months on most evenings you can find a local village fete where you can mix with the locals and enjoy regional food and wine. * The prehistoric sites of the Dordogne, such as the troglodyte village at Roque Saint-Christophe () and caves at Lascaux are within easy reach. Details of local amenities and attractions are provided in your welcome pack on arrival and we are happy to offer advice or help with bookings.
lovely gite , clean and comfortable . Access to second floor bedroom has a tight and very narrow winding steps to manĆuvre .Lovely pool and a myriad of wonderful villages to discover in the area. Welcoming host and hostess, Jo and Paul.
We enjoyed our stay in this nicely renovated and furnished old-stone house with its big park and swimming pool. Helpful hosts, beautiful countryside and villages nearby.
Lovely stay in this tastefully converted former pig farm! One other family and the welcoming owners on site. Great pool and large garden with everything you need to relax.
Wonderful setting. So peaceful, Jo and Paul were very friendly, helpful and attentive without being intrusive at all. Super comfy beds, and lovely bedding. Fantastic stay for the four of us. Highly recommended. Thank you both xx
Superbly peaceful cottage in beautiful countryside
We enjoyed a fantastic week relaxing at the cottage and visiting the various bastide towns. The accommodation is well maintained and very comfortable with modern and clean bathrooms. The kitchen is small but has everything needed to self cater; although it can be challenging to fit everything into the space saver dishwasher. Immediately outside is a covered area where we spent most of our time; protected from the sun and watching birds in the beautiful meadow. We were very sorry to go home!
A big thank you to Jo and Paul who couldn't do enough for us and treated us like family. The nicest host we have met.
The facilities are outstanding with a wonderful pool and relaxing gardens (including the visiting deer). The Gite was perfect, exceptionally clean and equipped with everything you need to make it a home from home.
A perfect place for peace, quiet and sun but there are some great places to visit;
- Villareal Monday night food market very lively and a great night
- Fumel Thursday night food market a slightly quieter night but just as much fun
- Issigeac Sunday day market really lively and some good bargains to be had.
We could not recommend this place or hosts highly enough.
We will be back!
Nice welcome from Paul, who was very helpful during our stay. A little more flexibility over the arrival time would have been appreciated from Jo. We appreciated the welcome pack. Disappointed that the loungers were removed from the pool before we left, without our knowledge. It felt like it was the end of their season and they were keen to close down. The fridge was old and had some black mould. The property would benefit from more crockery and glasses.
Very comfortable, the right size for us. Great outdoor area with a large dining table and sitting area. Ideally situated for exploring the Bastides of the lot valley.
Our gite was part of an old hamlet in a delightful setting. Both the property and the grounds were very well maintained and our hosts, Jo and Paul, were attentive and friendly throughout. The pool was much used during a gloriously hot week. Thank you Delphine!
A wonderful place to escape from the rat race with great accommodation and local visit to puzzle the mind.Easy drive and car hire from Bergerac
Would visit again
We had an amazing stay at La Terrisse, the gite had everything we needed and the pool was amazing especially in the 39oc heat! There are supermarkets in Fumel which is literally a 5 minute drive and Jo and Paul were so helpful and nothing was too much x if you need to reset and recharge the batteries then here is the place to do itâŠâŠ.
We had a fantastic week staying at Gite Delphine, a perfect place for a family. The Gite was spotless and well appointed without losing rustic charm. Jo and Paul were wonderful hosts- friendly, kind and attentive (but discrete)! Plenty of games and toys for kids, not to mention the fabulous pool! We would not hesitate to stay here again and would recommend to friends and family!
This is a lovely gite in the Lot valley. As two couples, we liked the layout of two double bedrooms with their own ensuite facilities. The kitchen and fridge are a bit small but having the large outside patio in the shade more than made up for this issue.
The pool area is well supplied with comfortable loungers and the view is very pleasant.
This is a great area for exploring castles and the bastide towns like Monflanquin. There are a number of good restaurants within a short drive.
We, Jo and Paul, grew up in the South West of England and have both had good careers. We decided to follow our hearts and moved to France in October 2020 to enjoy the famous French pace of life.
We take pride in all we do and La Terrisse is no exception. We are slowly renovating and improving the property for both ourselves and our guests to enjoy.
We fell in love with La Terrisse the first time we saw it. We were completely smitten by the tree lined drive, characterful properties and future potential.
We absolutely love living in our own little hamlet and enjoy the privacy it affords. We are also not too far from great local amenities, abundance of history and great food and wines with Bergerac and Cahors vineyards within a short drive.
The pool is nestled in a secluded spot, sunlit all day. The 1.6 hectare grounds offer private gardens for each Gite and mown paths meandering through the property with places to sit if you fancy a short walk.
You will find magnificent county walks on the door step. La Terrisse is ideally placed for travel to Chateau's, Bastides, and two amazing rivers in the Dordogne and Lot. The area has an abundance of village markets and night markets offering amazing food and household items as well as gifts. The night markets often have entertainment and alfresco dining. There are many local restaurants and cafes where you can enjoy locally produced foods. You can also take a vineyard tour where you won't be able to resist the chance of buying some of the worlds greatest wines direct from the producers. The Lot et Garonne is an amazing area of France.
