Our cottage is a self contained annex to our farmhouse. It is centrally heated from a wood-burning stove in the sitting room for which we provide all fuel. Enjoy a stay in our cosy cottage. There is a comfortable sitting/dining room for you to relax in. It has a beamed ceiling and wood-burning stove for you to snuggle up in front of. There is a TV, DVD/CD player and a bookcase of books and games for you to play. Free WI-Fi is also available. Situated between Hadrianâs Wall and the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty we are a small working farm with beautiful pedigree Beef Shorthorn cattle. We have spectacular views over the South Tyne valley towards both the Pennines and Hadrianâs Wall and are only a mile away from the South Tyne Trail and Lambley Viaduct (a fantastic cycle route).
Enjoy a stay in our comfortable farm cottage with an inglenook fireplace, beamed ceiling and woodburning stove. We have lovingly restored this old building. There is a double bedroom and a twin bedroom both with en-suite shower rooms, a living /dining room and small kitchen. There is a pretty cottage garden with picnic table and BBQ and parking for 2 cars.
A most comfortable and relaxing stay in an idyllic area
Knowing the owner was next door but left us in peace to enjoy our holiday. Lovely welcome items left for us. Beautifully clean. Everything we could have wanted. We all had very good nights sleep in the peace and quiet
A group of friends stayed here over the Easter weekend, a charming, cosy cottage in a beautiful location. We were able to do some great walks. The cottage has all you need for a short stay. Amazing value for money.
A lovely, homely little cottage in a perfect setting
My sister and I had four nights there. Very comfortable cottage. Great for touring the area - beautiful rivers and moorland, Hadrian's Wall and the lovely little town of Haltwhistle.
Super clean cottage in beautiful surroundings. Having ensuite bathrooms was great .Nice walks nearby. Friendly hosts, communication with cottage details great, as was the tasty shortbread. Thank you .
Truly nice cottage, in a beautiful landscape.
There was a very tasty shortbread in the cottage and fresh flowers on arrival.
Thank you Dorothy and Alan
We had a great stay in this spotlessly clean and comfortable cottage.
The cottage was very comfortable, really well equipped and conveniently close to Hadrian's Wall points of interest. We were very cosy with a generous supply of wood and fuel. It was a bonus that each bedroom had its own en-suite and the views from the cottage were lovely. Dorothy and Alan were friendly and helpful hosts, there were beautiful flowers and glorious shortbread in the living room on our arrival.
Had a lovely two night short break to visit some Roman Britain sites and Hillis Close Farm Cottage was the ideal base for our stay.
Plenty of space for all of us in the cottage (3 adults and 2 children) and it was very well equipped with comfortable beds. Very handy that each bedroom had an en-suite!
We would definitely return!
Comfortable, cosy, relaxing...Loved being able to have fire going full time with no worries about fuel. Walking from the doorstep and relaxing by fire was what we wanted, and enjoyed. In better weather we would have enjoyed sitting out in the garden. Made to feel welcome, yet private.
Great Hosts, Wonderful Accommodation, Fab Location
The accommodation was ideal for two couples. The cottage was extremely comfortable and immaculately presented. The location was perfect for us as we wanted to visit Hadrian's wall and its many attractions. Our hostess, Dorothy, left us delicious shortbread, eggs, milk etc. She was also extremely helpful in pointing us towards a local walk. I would highly recommend this accommodation and we will certainly be back.
Stayed 3 nights as a family with children aged 13,11 and 13 months. Cottage was absolutely lovely, a perfect retreat after busy days out. Location is perfect for many local attractions. Definitely recommend a visit to vindaloda!!! Lovely owners. We arrived to a roaring lit fire, fresh eggs and milk. Would love to return again.
A wonderful cottage in the beautiful countryside below Haltwhistle, perfectly located for visiting Hadrianâs Wall, Vindolanda, the Roman Army Museum and the forts either side.
Dorothy and her husband are lovely and live next door on their 45 acre farm, which has beautiful cows and chickens. Peaceful, beautiful and a great place to stay.
(Dorothyâs shortbread left, as a welcome gift, was to die for! The eggs were pretty great too..)
The accommodation was immaculately clean, there was a log fire on the go for when we arrived along with full brew kit, some homemade shortbread (which didnât last very long, it was gorgeous) and a bottle of wine. The owners were there to welcome us and give us any info we needed and were always on hand if we needed anything (which we didnât). The location is amazing if you are just after some peace and quiet and lively views. Can not recommend enough.
We love coming to this cottage. We see it as our place to rest, relax and recharge. The cottage is cosy and we enjoyed the multifuel stove particularly on the colder and windier days. This time we stayed between Christmas and over New Year, there were some lovely touches - the small christmas tree and decorations gave it such a lovely warm feeling. We were able to get out and enjoy some nearby walks and some geocaching. Dorothy and Allan are great hosts, present but not intrusive.
Very cosy cottage - clean and comfortable with beautiful views.
We arrived on a freezing night as it was snowing - the fire was lit and the cottage toasty warm with delicious homemade shortbread and some milk kindly left for us.
This was better than we expected. We stayed for Christmas and fell in love with the house, fantastic location and lovely hosts.
Looking forward to our next stay.
