Upon arrival and within 30 minutes of checking in, we were still getting settled and things out of the car. Our 5 lbs dog escaped the house and the neighbor across the street come over to tell us to put the dog on a leash. Yes we were chasing her at that moment. We then brought bikes and such on a trailer, to which we were unloading when the neighbor AGAIN come over to tell us we could not keep the trailer there. Again, not even there a couple hours and still unloading bikes and such. Not long after that I got a message from the owner stating we needed to keep the dog on the leash and move the trailer. There is a lot down the road to which we had planned on moving it to but the thing was, another person in that community had a bigger trailer that in their drive our whole stay. Maybe the board member who lived across the street should police the whole community and not just across the street. She made our stay miserable. Other than that it was good. We especially loved the beach toys and even added some to their pile as we did not want to bring them home. We will not be back as the neighbor was too much. We are a family of 6 (ages 8-15) and 2 dogs.
Cottage was just as described. Great location, walking distance to the beach. Owner was very responsive. Neighbors were very friendly. RV/cottage community is very well taken taken care of. We plan to stay again :)
Great place but verify everything when you arrive not when you need it.
We loved this location and the neighbors were very friendly. We travel with our dog and use a trailer to carry everything we use, there was no notice that utility trailers werenât permitted (we also didnât ask, so partially our bad) until we arrived so we had to find a place for the trailer. The laundry was shut down for about 3 weeks due to a COVID scare. All of the beach chairs were broken. The hot water in the shower doesnât last long so be sure to spread out showers. A few of the pillows were kind of dirty and we were glad we brought our own. There is no local TV channels, so no news or football to watch at the unit. Be sure to check all of your dishes before using them, we had to wash everything because they were pretty dirty. We didnât even bother trying to use the grill because it was filthy. Overall, this was a nice place to stay and so close to the water we walked there everyday, I think the cleaning people just need to do a more thorough check of everything even though the previous tenants should have taken care of it. The owner kind of rushed us out of the unit on our last day, which was a little frustrating to get a couple messages while we were in the middle of getting everything together, including grabbing our trailer that was stored a few miles away.
New owners, a Dad, Daughter, and Son LLC have always loved the beach, especially the white sugar sand beaches of the Emerald Coast of Florida. The Daughter, Denise, has had an RV lot in Oceanside RV Park, which is around the corner, for 16 years. Many family vacations were spent right here. As family grew we needed extra vacation space so finally, we purchased our dream vacation home/rental in the fall of 2016. We fixed it up the way we like it and are ready to share it with you!
Our family has spent many family vacations here on the Emerald Coast. Everyone loves the sugar white beaches, gorgeous emerald water of the Gulf of Mexico. Not to mention the delicious food of Miramar Beach. There is lots to do and see in this area.
All the comforts of home are available here at the cottage, but what you don't have at home are all the fun activities within walking distance of our home, nestled within the quiet and peaceful community of Destin Village.
