A wonderfully quirky and cosy 1 bedroom cottage set within gorgeous surroundings.
Shared courtyard at the front with private terrace at rear. Bright and spacious fully fitted kitchen with centre-island. Lounge area with access via French doors to a private rear terrace, stunning arch windows overlooking the Woodland views. A couple of steps fro the kitchen lead up to a double bedroom with ensuite.
Pets accepted.
Set within the stunning grounds of the Saltmoore Estate with some fantastic walks within the grounds. Sandsend beach is also just a short 15 minute walk away.
**Please note that although the cottages are completely separate from Saltmoore**
Everything was absolutely fine apart from the unfortunate situation with a resident peacock. While weâre avid bird lovers, his constant visits to the patio area made our stay a bit disappointing, we cleaned the table and chairs on arrival as there was poo everywhere only for it to be just as bad the next day so we were unable to sit outside which was a shame. We couldnât leave the doors open for the fear of him coming in and also having a dog with us, not ideal.
The cottage is just as advertised, comfortable and very well-equipped. For me, it was an excellent base for walking and exploring the coast and moors.
Small quibbles: living room seating could be more comfortable and there were no reading lights.
Jasmine Cottage is perfect spot for a couple to spend time near Whitby. On the grounds of Raithewaite Hall and very close to the hotel restaurant and bar. Inside you will find everything you need to cook a meal. Unlike some rental units this cottage is well stocked with plenty of cookware and cutlery. And the arrival gift bag is a nice touch.
A lovely cottage within a nice complex. Will definitely return once the building work is completed.
A lovely cottage with everything you need. The bedroom felt a bit cramped but was adequate.
A small gate on the patio would be great so you could leave the doors open if you have a dog.
The building work taking place didnât spoil our stay but we wouldnât hook again until completed.
We would definitely come back & maybe try a different cottage.
Positives: Cosy little cottage for two with a dog. The welcome pack was excellent. Quiet and good location for Sandsend and Whitby.
Negatives: The bed was rock hard and very uncomfortable; difficult to sleep in. The shower didnât work, was mainly freezing cold.
Jasmine. Cottage
The only draw back was
1/ bed mattress was not comfortable hard
2/ no mop or hover to clean up and keep cottage clean
3 no storage for clothes in bedroom to hang up just small set of draws
So bedroom was untidy with cloths hung on coat hangers on two walls
Beautifully presented, dog friendly cottage which has almost everything you would have in your own home.
Cottages have private parking & an outside seating area. There are a couple of short walks around the lake and woodland area within the estate - there is a shortcut to Sandsend through the woods & across a field, which was full of cows, so we got a dog friendly taxi instead -ÂŁ10 to either Sandsend or Whitby.
Only one pub open in Sandsend now but plenty of other places fairly nearby to visit, Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes & Falling Foss to name a few.
Dozens of pubs & cafes along with a good selection of supermarkets can be found in nearby Whitby.
There are building works on the estate which will be nearing completion, probably mid Autumn, however they didnât bother us at all as the cottages are shielded by trees so very minimal noise.
Loved our stay at Jasmine Cottage so much so we booked an extra night.
Would definitely recommend staying here.
The Cottage was fine. Loved the hamper too. Disappointed that the recycling area was opposite our patio and was overflowing. Also unaware of all the construction taking place that spoilt my 60th birthday with my family who were staying at the Gardeners Cottage too. We had originally booked Discovery Cottage so six of us could stay together. This was cancelled at short notice so managed to get the two cottages. Made the best of it but would have expected to have been advised of all Hall and surroundings being renovated ( rubble/ old mattresses on.the walking route etc) would have expected an advice / discount to be offered. Would recommend once all work finished .
My husband and I have just returned from a 4 night break at Jasmine cottage with Stays York.
The cottage is beautiful, clean and comfortable. However about the end of April we contacted Stays York as we were concerned regarding a review that said the main Hotel was under construction and it was noisy. When we booked the cottage back in February we were not made aware that work was to be undertaken. A female member of staff at Stays York reassured us that the cottage was some distance from the Hotel and construction and we would not be disturbed by noise.
This was a blanten lie. We could hear noise from a pneumatic concrete breaker as the construction site was a few meters from the cottages.
When walking the dog we had to walk through the construction site to get in and out .
The gardens of the estate are beautiful and the surrounding area is too and we are sure that once the work on the hotel is complete it will be beautiful and to a high standard.
We would return but not until all work is completed as this spoilt it for us when we hoped to have a peaceful break.
House is very small, no wardrobe and only two towels (for one week not sufficient). But the greatest problem was the view on two rubbish bins from the living-room. As there are only these two bins for six or seven cottages, they were filled to overflowing after three days. Disgusting!
The property was very well equipped and attractively furnished. The only thing missing was the bath mat.
My only negative comment is that the directions to locate the property were poor with few sign posts .
Great cottage within hotel grounds so all the amenities of hotel bar and restaurant fully availableâŠ.. comfy, cosy and clean cottage with great character and superb base for short walk to delightful Sandsend or the bustier WhitbyâŠ.!!! Loved it and would stay againâŠ. This time with our four legged family members to make use of the beach so close byâŠ.
