A beautiful cottage in a really lovely setting.
Down a track alongside the beautiful Loch Fyne you come across the cottage. Set in a lovely and quiet setting with great views across the Loch from the beach or your own private garden seat at the shores edge. The cottage is warm and cosy and has all you need for a stay away from home.
The track continues for quite a few miles each way so great for walks with the dog.
Loved it and will be back.

Beautiful location
The cottage is located in a beautiful location, quiet and private. Beds are comfy and kitchen is well equipped. The only thing that let it down for us was cleanliness particularly the bathroom.

Family Chillax time
The cottage was set in a lovely private location over looking the sea/loch FYNE.
It was absolutely dog friendly (but we still took throws & baby gate)
Our dog fudge is an 11 year old cocker that needs to be nosey any chance he got straight into the loch.
Would ideally recommend if want a relaxing retreat.

Not a four star unfortunately
This is unfortunately not a four star as advertised, in today’s choice of holidays I expect better but this poor cottage is in need of some serious love and attention. A holiday home should be a comfortable relaxing place; a home from home. Not somewhere you have to clean, air and heat up before you use and have to take steps to maintain good hygiene. I hate giving bad reviews and normally I let things go but this cottage needs some serious love. Here goes.. On entering the cottage we were hit with a strong smell of damp. It took two days to eradicate it with putting the heating on constant, lighting a fire and using our candles we brought. Upstairs bedrooms are warm and comfortable beds and nice bedding although carpets need cleaning. Kitchen is in a poor condition with grime on the wooden cupboards and doors. I couldn’t guarantee hygiene in the cupboards so we washed what we needed to use for the week and kept out of the cupboards. Needs a new fridge as shelves are broke, no light and rust. Rust on all radiators, a plug sockets leaking rust and a jumble sale quality of kitchen pans and kitchen utensils. Microwave in the damp utility area. Bathroom has mould in the bathroom grout, again rust on radiator and the rusty toilet flush is faulty as it sticks. Living room is comfortable, two comfortable leather sofas. Could do with it being a smart tv to enable easy access to tv channels rather than just Apple TV. Limited view of the loch due to trees and shrubs on the shore line. Garden yard in poor condition so much so we didn’t use. Garden gate broke. I suspect the holiday cottage is an income mule.. but we were reading great reviews and booked it. So I’ve decided to write this as a true reflection of the quality and state of what it’s really like.

Wonderful stay
Gorgeous cottage on the loch with amazing views right over to Inverary on a clear day.
Very clean and extremely well equipped and the owners extremely friendly.
It would have been nice to have some drawers in the master bedroom for clothing but this didn't effect our stay at all and we could use some in the second bedroom where the children stayed.
We managed to see some seals, cormorants and a heron from the beach just outside the loch and we even captured the Northern lights (in August!!) from the lochside on our last night.
I would recommend and I would stay there again.

Deceptive Advertising
I feel in love with the photos advertised on the site as they highlighted what appeared to be a beautiful large enclosed garden but upon arrival we encountered a small enclosed garden that was 'surrounded by the owners garden'. Not what we wanted or needed for our dog. This meant we could not relax by the water as the dog could wander off. Plus the lochside bench area is not part of the garden and is accessed by crossing the small road outside. The house itself was in need of some TLC. The upstairs window had a sign on it telling you not to open it and there were two very noisy carbon monoxide detectors upstairs. There was a strong smell of dampness in the utility room, which strangely housed the microwave. There was instructions for covid cleaning but non of the bags for bedding were provided. We definitely won't return to this cottage!

Beautiful location, old cottage
Fantastic location and area, very quiet location. Beautiful little cottage with plenty of facilities available and a couple of local beers as a welcome gift, although some milk would've been good!
Its a sweet, picture perfect cottage to stay in. Some wear and tear but comfortable. However, there are a couple of negatives which if were given some attention, would make this place a knock-out.
The front door is a lovely antique but as such, it doesnt fit properly and allows wind, rain, insects etc to come through. It also is not very secure. The same can be said for all the windows as all old single glazing, and some frames were ill fitting and corroded. There is also an issue with insects getting into the bathroom.
There's obviously been a problem in the past with mice, but not now, as lots of rentokil poison traps in every room., which in themselves are no problem but we travelled with our dog, and so these were a source of worry and potentially a health hazard, as he was interested in them.
We enjoyed our stay and were very grateful to have found this place.

Rustic & quirky cottage in pretty location with winding stairs & cosy log fire.
With panelled ceilings, winding staircase & rustic feel - cottage has fab views & walks. We were warm & comfy despite accommodation suffering ‘end of season’ blues. Tip - take a peanut feeder to see wonderful birds, red squirrels etc. Great base to explore gorgeous Scotland in its spectacular Autumn glory.

Mouse infestation and poor cleanliness.
We had a very disappointing stay. Starting with the good points- the cottage is in a tremendous position.
We arrived to find the cottage in a very poor state of cleanliness. The fridge was switched off and dirty. The kitchen floor and surfaces were similarly dirty.
More of a concern was the obvious rodent infestation. There was obvious attempts to control the mice with traps in each room and plug-in sonic devices. Depite that, there was at least 50 mouse droppings on the carpet in my daughter's room and the upstairs cupboard was unusuable due to the amount of droppings. We spent the first 3 hours of our trip scrubbing the kitchen and hoovering the droppings. There was also rrubbish bags from previous guests at the side of the house. Aagin this was eaten by rodents. We had dispose of this personally-despite this being from previous guests.
I contacted the owner and agent by m e-mail and the owner contacted me by telephone immediately. He was very helpful and courteous and provided an immediate partial refund.
Throughout the trip we were plaqued by the mice. Anything left on the kitchen floor was eaten and ultimately we had to leave a day early as my daughters were terrified by the mouse's repeated appearance in the kitchen.
I emailed the owner and the letting agency but received no reply.
We would not return and i feel the house, as it stands, is not in a condition to be rented .

A hidden gem
We found Darroch Beag to be very cosy and comfortable, and in a beautifully secluded (yest accessible) location with wonderful views over Loch Fyne - just as the description specified. Mark the owner, very friendly gent, checked in with us midweek to see if everything was ok, which it was, and then left us to it. We simply can't fault this cottage, it was like a home from home (but better). Just a minor point. An information folder would have been beneficial with house rules detailing what to do with bins, towels, bedding, when leaving etc. Also with information on nearest doctors, hospital, etc. All cottages tend to provide this and is very useful.
This did not in any way affect our stay though, as we have stayed in numerous holiday cottages in Scotland over the years and are very familiar with what to expect. We would highly recommend this property and definitely one we would like to return to. And apologies to Mark & Morven, we forgot to leave a review in your guest book. But we did visit a few of the areas recommended by previous guests... it truly is a beautiful part of the world. Thanks again for a lovely stay and for the fine(Fyne) local beers on arrival.
