I wish the listing made it clearer that THIS LISTING IS FOR 2 ENTIRELY SEPARATE APARTMENTS 2 FLOORS APART THAT ARE NOT CONNECTED AT ALL. Before I go into all the things that went wrong with our stay, I'll cover the pros:
- location was great, just a few minutes walk to Mercado do Bolhao and other major walking/shopping/dining areas and transportation hubs.
- elevators are hard to come by in Porto, and this property had one that thankfully worked.
The apartment on the 2nd floor was beautiful, but worth noting that there is only one set of keys, so you have to manage your ins and outs if your group has separate plans. Additionally, 2 of the 3 bathrooms located in each bedroom do not have doors, so you gotta love whoever you're sharing your room with, smells, sounds and all. I also happened to shower last on our last night, and there was no more hot water so cold shower it was for me.
Perhaps the worst of it all was for my 3 friends who stayed in the 4th floor apartment. The entry instructions were funky but we managed, but it did say if the elevator doesn't work then you have to walk all 4 flights up- luckily we didn't have to. Upon entry, there were tons of flies. I informed the host who offered to "spray some more" which makes me think its a known issue because it already smelled like bug spray. The internet never worked, and both nights of their stay they either got lukewarm water or no water at all to shower! Here's hoping the host addresses these for future guests.
