I vacationed in duck with my parents in the Late 80âs, the house has a charm of a traditional ODX beach box. We had everything we needed and wanted at this location. My kids loved the house and the location and are ready to plan our vacation for next year and want to stay at this house again.
We enjoyed our stay at this house. Located on a quiet street with a short walk to the beach access. The house is exactly as described and does have fantastic views of both the ocean and the sound from the top deck.
We really enjoyed our stay! A great sized cottage only a short walk from the beach. As the listing describes, there are only bare bones amenities and some of the items (bed quilts, pillows, furniture, kitchen items) could use some freshening up or replacement but overall really enjoyed this stay and would recommend it for the low maintenance travelers who prioritize activities outside of the house and just need a bed to sleep in!
My family and I came to Duck Nc for the first time from Central Virginia. The house is just as described in the listing and was very affordable. It was nice to be able to walk to the oceanfront and not have to worry about parking. The downstairs room dad beach toys and chairs that we were able to use and that was awesome. The beds were super comfy but I do suggest you bring your own pillows. We canât wait to come back next year.
I planned a surprise fishing trip for my husbands birthday. The location was great and the host was very helpful and responded quickly. The house needs some updating, but for an affordable price, it worked great for us.
We spent the week here last week. The views from the decks, absolutely amazing. This was our second year in Duck, and I think we will continue to come visit. The house was the perfect size for us. Plenty of cookware to choose from. A quick walk to the ocean. The weather was amazing the first half of the week. The second half was not as amazing but there are so many close things to do that we had plenty to do and see.
Location, location, location⊠beautiful views from the roof top deck. Home sits on higher elevation allowing you to see the sound and the ocean. Short walk to the beach, no parking, but easy drop off if needed. Beautiful wide beach, plenty room. House is dated but that is part of its charm. Nice layout and comfortable. Thank you!
The property is clean and well maintained. While one might wish for updates, the house is really just what an Outer Banks Beach House should be: a place with character, with inviting spaces and near the beach. The upper deck of the house gives you views of the ocean and sound on all directions. And at night, it gives you a perfect opportunity for Star Gazing. In short, the house is unpretentious, cozy, warm and clean.
My boyfriend and I spent the week of Labor Day at Wood Duck and were very pleased. The house was very clean and was perfect for the two of us. The close proximity to the beach was great (less than a 10-minute walk), and the views of the ocean and sound from the house were incredible. We went out to dinner on our first evening, but spent the rest of the week cooking in the very well-equipped kitchen. We had red flags at the beach so couldn't swim, but enjoyed the nearly empty beach every day. This was our first time to the Outerbanks as a couple, and neither of us had been in over a decade. Needless to say, we look forward to returning. Thank you to the lovely hosts for opening your home to us.
Although this beach house looks a little worn - it's such a great location with wonderful views and very comfortable. The check in is easy (except the lock needs replacing - it spins and is difficult to use unless you turn it "just right") The place is very clean inside and Kitchen well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, utensils, etc. The two beds we used were very comfortable and the bathrooms in working order, etc. We loved having the rooftop porch for a 360 view of both the sound and ocean. It's a 5 min walk to the beach - it was cooler and windy but we still loved walking along the sand
We were thrilled to find a house sized and priced for a family of five within easy walking distance to the beach. Most rentals this close are way too big and costly for us. The house was as-advertised and the owners were responsive and pleasant to deal with. It's just a few minute's walk to the beach access and our kids (youngest 11 years old) had no problem with it, even when carrying their beach gear. Since there's no public beach access nearby, the beach was not crowded. Note that there are lifeguards but no facilities such as restrooms or showers in this area. Not a problem for us, but families with very young children may prefer a few more amenities. Everyone in our family agrees that we want to return and we hope to re-book soon!
I wear braces on both of my feet and there was no parking on the streets, so we had to figure out a way for me to get to the beach. We contacted the owner and she helped with ideas and then our own ideas. It would have been easier if we could have parked on the street, but we learned from the experience to book next time closer to the beach. It all worked out but neither my husband or I are spring chickens so it was work to get to the beach.
This home was in a great location, quiet street. The home was very spacious. Lots of hang out space in the loving room, bedrooms great size. Kitchen too. Beds were not the best but managed. The comforter on the master bed was very worn out, should be replaced.
Its 100% our fault for not reading more into it, but no linens provided, that was a bummer once we arrived.
The crows nest was beautiful, the stairs up. There are many lose rails up top. So not really kid friendly. Another bummer was no doors on the half screened porch, no way to keep the kids in and safe from stairs while hanging out outside.
The home wasnt cleaned very well. There was SO much sand around and under the couchs and ottoman. Black hair left in the bathtub.
Overall, we did enjoy our stay. I just didnt think it was very kid friendly nor cleaned the best. Wonderful size home though and Wonderful location. Beautiful decor.
This was our second summer to spend a week in this delightful little house. The living room is spacious, the beds are very comfortable, and the viewing platform always has a breeze.
This property is definitely a bargain for the area. You can't beat the price for peak season in Duck, even if there were a few problems. We had a little roof leak on the first night. It had POURED all day and the host was great about communication. They sent someone over to look at it the next day and we didn't have any roof issues after that. The property itself could use some TLC. The whole thing could use a deep clean and some maintenance on the deck, more supports on the spiral staircase, and a once over on that roof. Otherwise, the listing was very upfront on what would and wouldn't be available/taken care of and the extra work was worth the discounted price. The location is a super short (2-3min) walk to a nice section of the beach that wasn't overcrowded. The beach walk to the pier is especially nice at sunset. It is convenient to all the amenities of Duck and Corolla and not too long of a drive to get to Kitty Hawk/Kill Devil Hills. The neighborhood was overall very quiet with minimal traffic as well. The home layout worked well for my family of 5 and we had a great vacation. Thank you!
the excitement of my friends and i filled this home with laughter and good memories-thank you so much for letting us stay in this beautiful home that we look forward to coming back to in the future!
Great location, very clean and cozy, the views from the deck are beautiful! Perfect for family stay with enough room for everybody! Only I wish they mention in the description that they don't provide sheets and you bring your own.
Had a wonderful week! Beautiful weather and great house! Loved the crows nest for sunset views and star gazing. Even got some exercise walking up the hill. Great communication⊠canât wait to go back!
The house was built by my parents in the early 80's. We did a lot of work ourselves. To give you an idea of my Dad's personality, the underside of the house is braced above code to withstand the winds of Hurricanes. I never fear that our house will blow away! My parents have both passed away and my sister and I manage the property. We have made several improvements including replacing shag carpet with laminate, wood paneling with dry wall and a more functional kitchen. We have tried to create a family friendly place, but remain true to our parents vision of a beach house. It is also important to note that I do not live at the beach and I am not able to check things every day. We appreciate renters who notify us when things are not working correctly. We do have a cleaning lady and maintenance man on call, but it still can take 24 hours for them to respond. The house is a special place for us and our families full of memories.
