Bienvenue au Red Cottage sur la rivière Saco, à quelques minutes des quartiers côtiers de Hills Beach, Biddeford Pool, Rock Fortune, l'une des plages de sable les plus spectaculaires du Maine, Granite Point et la région côtière Kennebunk de Goose Rocks. Nous sommes 1/4 mile de l'Université de Nouvelle-Angleterre et trois miles du centre-ville de Biddeford, une ville de la Renaissance connaît un regain de restaurants, boutiques et microbrasseries.

La rivière Saco est le paradis et la pêche locale des guides d'un pêcheur rayé de basse sont disponibles ou poisson sur la plage. Sanctuary Point East à Biddeford Pool est maintenu par le Maine Audubon Society et considéré comme l'un des points d'observation des oiseaux de premier sur la côte nord-est. Bois Phare de l'île est situé juste à côté de Biddeford Pool et offre une expérience unique avec Maine excursions en bateau en Juillet et Août. Location de kayak, vue chartes voyant et parasailing sont également disponibles sur place.

Un peu plus loin, vous pouvez explorer:
- Portland - la plus grande ville du Maine est largement salué comme un gourmet Mecque. Il abrite également des musées, des concerts d'été, le shopping, et plus d'une demi-heure au nord sur la I-95.

- Kennebunkport - une destination touristique préférée, à seulement 10 miles au sud.

-Neighboring Saco - parcs aquatiques et tyrolienne pour les enfants.

-Palace Playland - seul parc d'attractions en bord de mer du Maine se trouve à Old Orchard Beach, huit miles jusqu'à la côte.

- Un jour de pluie rare? Planifier un voyage en train vers le haut ou vers le bas de la côte de la Nouvelle-Angleterre. La station de Downeaster Amtrak, de Brunswick et à Boston se trouve à Saco, à seulement 4 miles.

Le Red Cottage est entièrement meublé avec tout le confort de la maison. Le premier étage dispose d'un salon, une grande chambre avec lit queen, cuisine entièrement équipée, une salle de bains, salon avec laveuse / sécheuse et trois porche saison. A l'étage, une alcôve avec un lit double, et une grande chambre avec trois lits jumeaux. Le grand jardin dispose d'un patio avec barbecue pour barbecues d'été, sièges pour 6, ou assis sous les pins par le ruisseau avec un bon livre. Une courte promenade à travers les bois vous amène à la falaise surplombant le marais et la rivière, avec vue sur l'océan au-delà. Il y a des renards, des cerfs, la sauvagine, les faucons et les aigles; les kayakistes, la pêche et les plaisanciers, et le flux et le reflux de la rivière. Adjacent à la propriété est l'un des plus anciens cimetières de Biddeford, un peu d'histoire locale écrite sur chaque pierre tombale.

A Much Needed Getaway

We had a lovely stay at the Red Cottage. We walked down to the river to be greeted by a Bald Eagle on our first day. The house was clean and the beds were comfortable. We had no complaints. I would stay again if the opportunity raises. The hosts were very hospitable.

Wonderful stay!

I cannot recommend the Red Cottage enough. My husband, mother, and dog had a great week-long stay. The house is adorable and in a great location - Biddeford has more to do and see every year that we visit! We were welcomed upon arrival by Karen, and were touched by the gift basket full of Maine goodies including coffee! The home was cozy and just the right size, and the window AC units and fans kept the place comfortable during a 90+ degree heatwave. The ground floor bathroom was a nice size and well-equipped with towels and toiletries. One note is that the stairs to the upper-floor bedroom were steep - this wasn't a surprise as we've found this common in other area rentals. However, it did mean that my elderly mother needed to take the main bedroom on the ground floor while my husband and I slept upstairs. This arrangement was fine for us, but I wanted to note it for any older travelers or those with mobility concerns.

The Red Cottage

What a dream vacation we enjoyed at the Red Cottage! The Cottage is on the lovely Saco River...very scenic, but it's important to note that the property does not have river access. Ron and Karen are the best! We loved the fresh veggies from their beautiful gardens. The cottage is clean, comfortable and complete with everything you need to have a memorable time! It's very well located to beaches. Portland and shopping in Kennebunkport! We will definitely be back! Diane and family.

Pristine home

We were welcomed by friendly owner. The house was fresh, clean and welcoming. Little personal touches from owner with products from Maine. A beautiful property on the river. University of NE half a mile down the road. I walked by the campus every morning and there is a public path to Hills Beach 1.5 miles from the house if you enjoy walks. Several beaches in the area to choose from to spend your day. Many places to drive for fun days trips. We visited Kennebunkport, Old Orchard Beach, Portland, Kittery. There is so much to do and see in Maine and so beautiful. The house has a lot of charm. We loved the screened in back porch. We brought our dog who loved it as well.

Excellent Property

The hosts are thoughtful and welcoming and paid careful attention to every detail. They live next door and are very respectful of boundaries and privacy, but also friendly. Karen kindly printed some forms I needed and brought them over. She left a generous welcome basket and water in the fridge for us. The wifii is strong. The property was clean and well stocked with everything you need for a comfortable stay. There is no dishwasher. The house has space for a lot of people even though there are only two bedrooms. Minor drawbacks (because no place is perfect) include the home is situated close to the road and you can hear the traffic and the bedroom has a lot of light early in the morning. My dogs were happy in the house. There is a nice view of the river in the back and a firepit. The location is not walking distance to water, but is driving distance to lots of nice beaches and restaurants. I highly recommend this property.

Great location

We decided to stay further south in Maine and chose the Red Cottage for our family vacation. We had passed through the Biddeford/Saco area but never explored the area. From the first inquiry, Karen and Ron were responsive and helpful. We travel with our cat and finding owners to allow here are difficult to find. When we asked about bringing her the response was immediate. The cottage was very clean and cool thanks to Karen and Ron starting up the three air conditioners as we reached 104 degrees on our drive through Massachusetts. Everything you need is provided and the welcome basket was wonderful. From this home base we explored Kennebunk, Portland, Saco, and everywhere in between. If you enjoy long walks, head toward the University of New England and head toward the Marine Center where you can walk the entire length of Hills Beach. We visited Goose Rocks beach after 5 pm with no parking fee and beautiful quiet stretches of beach to enjoy. A trip to Pine Point beach was great and again if you enjoy long walks you can stroll all the way to the Old Orchard Beach Pier. We had several good meals at various local restaurants with none disappointing. A trip to Portland with all it has to offer was a quick drive. Wherever we explored, it was nice to know we had a clean, comfortable rental to return to with assistance right next door if we needed help. (The TV was having difficulty connecting to the WiFi and Ron was over quickly to offer assistance). Overall great rental.

Wonderful

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. Karen greeted us when we arrived and gave us a tour. She was very friendly and had left us gifts- local cheeses, coffee, mustard, and jam that were all made in Maine. There was even a little treat jar with dog bones for our pups. Such a nice, thoughtful touch. Traveling with dogs can be stressful, but we felt completely welcomed with them. The cottage was extremely clean and well appointed. It was very hot and humid and Karen asked if we needed an additional a/c put in. They installed a new one that day. We would say that is the definition of “above and beyond.” The property is beautiful and we were invited to explore it- even the old cemetery at the back of the property, near the river. It dates back to the early 1800’s and has sea captains and their families in it. I would say our only issue- and it’s minor, is that the mattress in the master bedroom is old and very uncomfortable. Our backs were a bit sore when we woke, but otherwise, we loved our stay!

Family vacation

We usually vacation at the cape or vineyard , but decided to try Maine this year. We heard Maine was super dog friendly and we found this great cottage in Maine close to EVERYTHING and welcomed the pups too!! The owners were next door & very friendly! They welcomed us yummy snacks, blueberry jam, maple infused mustard, local cheeses and crackers as well as local coffee! The cottage was on the Saco River and was just gorgeous. We went to a different beach everyday, and even went to beaches that allowed dogs all day! We were so happy with our stay.

Had a wonderful time!

The cottage was lovely. Bring your bikes to go to the bird sanctuary. It is a serene experience walking the trail, but the parking situation around the sanctuary is not easy. The community is very bike friendly.

Beautiful vacation

We were very happy with stay. The house is very nice. Luckily there are some AC units because the weather was hot. Karen and Ron are very welcoming and we enjoyed our visits with them. They have good knowledge of the community and we’re happy to share. Many extras are included and this helps with setting up a home for one week.

The Most Relaxing Vacation!

Karen and Ron are supreme hosts! The property and Red Cottage are well-maintained and clean! The kitchen is well-stocked for those who want to cook and eat in. There are many local amenities - Fortunes Rocks Beach, Cape Porpoise Kitchen, Brandbury Market.... don't forget the Rachel Carson Nature Preserve which we walked daily! We will see you next year!

Absolutely fabulous hosts and location

We had another wonderful vacation again staying at the Red Cottage which we rented 5 years ago. Karen and Ron greeted us with Maine treats which were delicious and gave us fun suggestions for our interests. They made us feel very welcomed and at ease. The home was very comfortable to use, very clean and had all the necessary items needed for a week away from home. We had a delightful time out back using the firepit, breakfast on the screened-in porch, and dinner out back on the patio. We would definitely rent again from Karen and Ron.

Family vacation at the Red Cottage

We had an absolutely wonderful time staying at the Red Cottage. It was the perfect location for us to explore southern Maine. We had everything we needed right there. It felt like a home away from home. Our hosts were very gracious and accommodating. The fresh tomatoes from their garden were such a treat. We would highly recommend a stay at the lovely Red Cottage.

Comfortable and homey

The cottage had plenty of room and was comfortable. It was well stocked and nicely decorated. 5 minutes from Fortunes Rocks beach which is a beautiful beach. Clear, cool water. Not crowded. Had a lifeguard and portojohns.

Charming Cottage, Great Location

The Red Cottage is in a great spot to explore southern Maine and beyond. It’s also near some great beaches - don’t miss Fortune’s Rocks! The vintage cottage is lovely, well-equipped and Karen couldn’t be more helpful and accommodating from booking, throughout our stay and she even sent us a nice note post stay.

Our stay at the little red cottage was lovely. The river at the rear of the property is beautiful and the house is conveniently located to beaches, Orchard Beach pier etc. The house was very clean and fully stocked with everything you need!!

Karen and Ron were incredible hosts! They really made our stay special and went the extra mile to make sure our two kids under two felt safe and special. The fresh fruit and cold water was such a nice touch. It is a beautiful home and property. Excellent for families! The location is great and accessible. The yard was amazing and it was well loved by us, our children, and our dog. You can’t go wrong renting this home!

River cottage in Biddeford Pool

This is an adorable cottage on the Saco river, with a woodsy Maine feel to it. It is near the lovely beach area of Biddeford Pool. Easy drive or bike ride to beaches, kayaking and scenic vistas. The hosts live next door, and are very helpful and friendly. Portland, Freeport and Kennebunkport are all within a 40 min drive for day-trips.

Ron and I are retired, enjoying life on the coast of Maine. I love gardening and projects, he fishes and also has a long list of projects. We enjoy meeting folks from around the country and world, the cottage has introduced us to many interesting and wonderful people.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

We moved next door to the Red Cottage in 2001. Each year the owners visited for a month in the summer, the remaining 11 months we kept an eye on the property, plowed in the winter and grew to love the charm and potential of the place. When they decided to sell we saw an opportunity to create a comfortable, inviting rental property that offered what we've been enjoying these past 20 years; life on the Saco River, easy access to beaches, and one of the best public boat ramps is less than a mile away. We're centrally located, Kittery to the south, Freeport to the north, and everything in between.

The Cottage has the charm of a house built in the 1930's, views of the river from the kitchen, sitting room, upstairs bedroom and three season porch. A large back yard, a short walk to the bluff overlooking the river, the wildlife and boat traffic all add to what makes the Cottage an attractive destination spot for vacationers to the coast of Maine.
