Le chalet est situé dans une partie incroyable de True Scotland. Avec de superbes vues et de belles plages, Islay est devenue une attraction touristique en pleine croissance en Écosse.
Le Islay Whisky Festival est une semaine de musique et de whisky sur Islay - célèbre pour ses single malts. Le festival d'Islay transforme l'île avec un programme complet de musique traditionnelle, de dégustation de whisky, de ceilidh, de cours de gaélique et de golf. Fèis Ìle est passée d'une célébration de la langue et de la culture gaélique à un festival à part entière.

Lovely warm welcome from David, our host. Welcome pack of goodies above average. Ideal location for exploring locally or further afield. Amazing for birds, flowers & wildlife. Stunning beaches…..loved visiting the iconic distillery buildings even though we don’t like the amber nectar.

If Heineken made cottages this would be one. Location, facilities, cleanliness all perfect. David met us at the house to ensure we knew how everything worked with welcome milk and biscuits. I will definitely be back

Relaxing farm cottage

Clean, warm, comfortable house on a working farm surrounded by picturesque countryside. A short walk from the beach. We did not want to leave. Highly recommend.

Unrivalled hospitality

The host could not have been more helpful nor welcoming while the house was extremely well-equipped and thoughtfully appointed in a peaceful, rural location which provided a wonderful retreat. Within walking distance were two beautiful beaches and the equally welcoming Kilchoman distillery ( a stunning 3 mile hike to this from the house).We would happily revisit if possible.

The property was exactly what we required. The position on the farm was perfect with a short walk to the cove. The cottage was well presented and everything worked. The Island is beautiful and the people were very friendly and helpful.

Nice location for quiet nights . Some good hikes can be taken from this location. Location is a little further than what google maps gives you but not a busy road so in and out of Port Charlotte is an easy drive. You can still cover the entire island within an hours drive. Plus close to Bruichladdich 😁

Peace and Quiet

As in the title, apart from the occasional bleating of sheep and the calling of wild birds, peace and quiet are what you will find at Kilchiaran Farm Cottage - it’s simply lovely. At the same time it’s well equipped with all the necessities for a self catering stay - cooker, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge/freezer etc, and a good Wi-Fi and mobile phone connection.It’s clean and well decorated with comfortable beds and furniture, and we certainly wanted for nothing in the above respects.But it’s the location that set it apart for us. It lies a few miles from the nearest town, Port Charlotte, along a single track road that continues on round the coast. Close by is Kilchiaran Bay where St Columba is reputed to have come ashore many centuries ago. We walked down to it every day and on only one occasion did we not have it completely to ourselves. After having walked across the shingle at the head of the beach, the waterside is flat and sandy and, apart from the coldness of the sea, is good for paddling or even swimming if you’re hardy enough! Tips for your stay:Stock up on provisions before you get there - the nearest co-op is in Bowmore, which has essentials but is not overly large.Remember your midge repellent - as on all of the west coast of Scotland they can be a nuisance, though we didn’t find them too bothersome while we were there.And finally, don’t forget your camera - it’s a very photogenic place.But most of all, relax and enjoy it.

Beautiful and relaxing stay

We were met by David at the cottage who went through all the necessaries. He then told us about walks and the beaches which was ideal as we had dogs. The cottage albeit in a rural location was clean with a welcome pack and beautifully presented. We will certainly come again. Thank you David

Great quiet getaway

Was met at cottage with a smile and shown around and shown all the rm ,switches,controls etc and dad loved it straight away as he has demntia and normally hates being away... quiet place to chill and relax away from the hussle and bassle of life... there was milk in the fridge which great and even bisciuts to enjoy in our first night there,plenty of rm and a few great nights playing cards and dominoes which took us back years,we have dogs so it was great being away from other dogs :) the island is great been going since i was 5 and i am 51 now so great expoling the surrounding areas as we normally are at port ellen so it was a great change up for us... great place ,great price, defo use again ,thanks for having us :)

Off the beaten track.

The property is as described in the listing. Warm, well appointed. It is located a short drive from some very good places to eat in Port Charlotte. A slightly longer drive takes you to Bowmore where there is a large Co-op and more places to eat. Islay is teeming with birdlife and archaeology and just a short walk in the countryside around the property revealed choughs and hen harriers. Further afield we saw eagles. Highly recommended.

Found the 16 stairs a bit daunting....I'm 89 and walk with 2 sticks

Very clean, very well stocked, lovely location, but road from Port Charlotte probably a bit daunting for "Townies". Able to tie dog on long lead so that she could wander on the lawn. Unable to contact host as he was busy harvesting barley. Single beds a bit small for adults. Thoroughly enjoyed stay. Singe beds a bit small for adults. Can recommend it to anyone except those with limited mobility. Su.Wagner

Autumn Islay

The cottage was in a brilliant location for those of us who love peace and quiet: as we do! 15 mins up the lane from Port Charlotte. One reason we chose here was because the owner is totally local. David was a great host, knowledgeable, interesting and helpful. We were warm, cozy and comfortable after our trips out and about. Good beds too! The autumnal Islay weather was not a problem The house was equipped with everything you need. A big bonus was the great wi fi signal, so calls not a problem with wi fi enabled mobile.We enjoyed watching the farm cattle and sheep but mind you drive carefully up the road from Port Charlotte in case you might them sheltering on the road from the westerlies! Walks, distilleries, tea shops, to explore and to see Islay with Autumn colours was lovely. Think our favourite distillery was Kilchoman, field to bottle on Islay, passionate staff and just up the road. So glad we picked this house and the owner is such an asset too.

I grew up on the farm and left the island in 1968 to further my education in Oban ,moving on to Rolls Royce to serve my apprenticeship as an engineer returning to Islay to help my ageing father run the farm.
I married a local girl from Port charlotte and over the years we had two of a family . we have now retired to the village now and the cottage is now available for rent so you can enjoy this wonderful place where I was very fortunate to spend most of my life. Now I spend my time restoring old vehicles
