Hever Castle was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII. The castle went through a number of owners since the Boleyn family after passing to the Crown on the death of Anne's father, Thomas Boleyn . In 1903 it was acquired by William Waldorf Astor, an American millionaire, who restored it in Tudor style using, as far as possible, the same tools as Tudor craftsmen. The extensive castle grounds are beautiful in summer, and include a rose garden which is lovely in full bloom.

Definitely worth a visit for history-lovers and nature-lovers alike. Highlights include Anne Boleyn's bedroom and the collection of portraits of Henry VIII and his six wives.

Lovely and well maintained cottage, a fantastic play area for the kids and in a great location. The welcome from Andrew and Kattie was perfect and generous. We thank you very much for this stay, we are already thinking of coming back (all of us this time)! See you soon !
