I arrived at this property late at night, after driving 11 hours. It was raining and freezing cold, only to find another group staying at the property. I had been trying to contact the host multiple times by message and phone over several days as I wanted to extend our stay. Even Stayz were trying to contact her with no luck. So there I am with my children standing inside the unit with the other occupants trying to ring the host to find out what the hell is going on. Even the other guests were trying to ring her. I had to find other accommodation and pay twice the price and pay extra for parking. I still havenât heard from her with some sort of explanation or compensation for the cost it had caused us, financially and emotionally. My recommendation- Make sure you can actually communicate with your host before arriving at your destination.
Monica was great to deal with at first about a mix up in reservation dates and said a full refund would be issued but has since refused to respond to communications and it is still not sorted! I have phoned Wotif, Vrbo and Stayz who have all told me she needs to fix it as the funds have been transferred to her!
I was very unhappy with my stay here.
We had to wait almost an hour after agreed time for other people to leave the property. As we walked in there was dirty underwear turned inside out at the door. As we proceeded further into the house there was dirt/sand, food crumbs a full bin that stank as it had some sort of food or dog food in it and other mess that had not been cleaned from the last people that were there. None of the taps or benches had been wiped over. There was also dirt in the bath tub. Going into the bedroom the bed was not made and the cover had been thrown over the lamp. I immediately messaged the owner Monica saying that it was dirty and unacceptable. She responded 2 hours later and admitted that the house had not been cleaned from the last people that were there and said that she would immediately give a full refund. 2 weeks later I ask about the full refund and she says that its my word against hers. I then replied that I had photo evidence of the mess and that I expected a refund to be made as that was the original agreement. She requested to see the photos (which she did) and said once again that I would get a full refund. Another week later nothing had been refunded into my account. After requesting again she said "do you think it is right to get a full refund even though you used amenities" I said "yes because the place was completely unhygienic and dirty if it was just 1 or 2 things I wouldn't have minded but the whole house being the way it was, was unacceptable. We were also on the beach for the day and didn't sleep in the bed because someone else had been there so we wiped the couches over and sleep on there with blankets from the cupboard. I asked if she thought that was fair on us. She then said "can we make it half of the full refund?" I did agree to this as it had already been over a month of me being messed around. She then immediately replied saying that she would give half a refund of what she got from the property. I ended up get $75 from the $200 i paid over a month later. Apparently amenities of us using a kettle and watching 30minutes of TV works out to be $125 for a night. She said she would contact Stayz to refund their part however, I would have been happy with the full refund from what she had received or at least half as it was HER mistake.
VERY disgusted with the hygiene of the place especially considering COVID-19 and the outcome here. :(
No traffic or roads between the stay and the beach, itâs simply a stroll onto the beach, just perfect! Pet friendly and safe for my pooch. Nice deep bath and has everything you need.

I thought the property was a house and fenced as the owner had stated in a previous enquiry. The photos showed what I thought was a secure back yard.
The back door lead out to a small patio then a public walk way..so not private at all with lots of foot traffic and dogs constantly walking past. No screens on the back door or windows.
The location is great with a great view of the ocean. Neighbours were friendly and up for a chat..
This apartment is a lovely place to stay. With the sea views and conveince to parks and the beach. It is comfortable and well equipped. The artwork and design is great. Parking is excellent. Overall we had a great stay.
I stayed here for a short weekend get away to refresh and unwind and it was just perfect. The view to the beach from the lounge and main bedroom was beautiful and just what I needed to relax. The bath is amazing and very comfortable and Monica was a delight to chat to. I will be staying again in the future for sure!
I am writing in regards to our recent stay at Semaphore. Overall we were very disappointed with the accommodation provided. Here are a few of the contributing factors.
- The house was very dirty. We spent the first few hours cleaning once we arrived. There were no cleaning supplies (brooms, cleaning chemicals etc)
- The cooking utensils were very limited, not even a big frying pan to cook breakfast. The utensils were broken (we had to buy our own tongs) No paper towels , rubbish bags etc.
- The washing machine was full of clothes, that must of been sitting in the machine for a long time as the smell of mold was terrible.
- The door on Bedroom 3 jammed shut and luckily it wasnât the smallest child in there as they wouldnât of been able to open the window and we would of had to call the fire brigade.
- For a house that is suited for 6 people there was only 4 dinning chairs and we had to use one of our camping chairs so we could all sit at the table.
- The hot water would run out after 2 people had a quick shower.
I Wrote to Monica on many occasions, with no response. I tried to settle this matter and she avoided my calls and emails.
Easy access to Beach with soothing views & sounds of the waves crashing.
Loved the decor & vibe of the accommodation.
Wish Iâd had the time to take a relaxing bath in the Huge Tub.
Canât wait to return for another getaway soon!
This place was lovely! We were in close quarters to neighbours but they were quiet. It was about a minute walk to the beach and my dog was allowed to stay! Also, thanks Monica for all your help, you were very kind and accommodating :)
Ended up staying at another of the owners propertys, as there was a major hick up with the booking with stayz and she knew nothing of the booking. Check in still shows up as 17/07/4038 but all other stayz paper work etc shows 2020.
