A wonderful cottage in a beautiful part of the world. Andrew went above and beyond what a fantastic host. From the log burner and fire wood to the sausages and scallops he couldnât have done more. We would definitely stay again. Thank you for a fantastic week!
A very well-equipped, comfortable house, spacious and easy to feel at home. We especially enjoyed the good quality cotton sheets, and the 3 bathrooms! The view is spectacular.
A comfortable base and beautiful setting at Teal Cottage
We enjoyed our stay at Teal cottage. Ideal location for seeing the sights on the Cowal Peninsular. Lovely views from the cottage to Loch Riddon/Ruel. Short drive and a hop on the ferry to Bute. Layout of cottage good, with door into utility to leave your boots/coats. Warm and comfortable in a peaceful setting.
We thougt that the cottage would be on the shore, not across the road with gates to open and close, each time you went out .lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings. but needed a good clean, removed cobwebs on arrival..Hoping to return soon .we had a wonderful holiday. Host was very friendly. Thank you. Ann and Val.
Andrew and Shiela were lovely hosts who made us feel very welcome indeed and went out of their way to make our stay memorable.. We had a lovely long weekend in Teal cottage; a perfect mix of very comfortable, spacious and very well appointed accommodation with everything we would need, and more. The view and the location of Teal cottage is so serene and beautiful and it is fascinating to see the sea loch quietly ebb and flow. Our chocolate lab was in heaven, with the lovely enclosed garden. The cottage itself is also perfectly situated for exploring the Cowell peninsula - our first visit here ( a gorgeous , unspoilt and tranquil part of the world). We canât wait to come back to both the cottage and the region for a longer stay in the near future.
We had a lovely 5 nights at Teal Cottage. Very well appointed and the bed and bedding was excellent. It was lovely to sit on the bench in the front garden in the sun (yes we had a few very sunny days), enjoying our coffee and the views. The kitchen had everything that we needed. The sitting/dining area was much larger than the photographs show and filled with natural light. I particularly loved the large seat/small sofa for reading in. The only reason that I gave a 4 for location is that it was a drive to off lead walking (for the dog) apart from the loch when the tide was out. That was great - but our dog isnt good near roads... The garden was very secure and he was happy to mooch about there. We had a restful few days in the garden then really enjoyed exploring nearby: Ostel Bay, Tignabruich, Oyster Catcher (great pub and there was a BBQ the day we were there). We had a good visit to Benmore Gardens on the way home. We would definitely stay again.
Lovely location, owner very friendly and helpful.
A few minor issues: we were surprised there was no washing up liquid and salt and pepper. A ceramic dish for cooking in the oven would have helped. Also garlic press needs replacing.
We found the mattresses in both rooms uncomfortable, probably in need of updating.
There was no outdoor table.
The en suite in the double room really in need of decorating.
Toilet seat in twin room loose.
Basic cleanliness was good, but some areas dusty, and sinks were stained brown.
The cottage is in a lovely location overlooking the loch with Ospreys fishing in front of you. The cottage is a little tired and just needs close inspection and a bit of up dating. Wifi works fine, connectivity generally ok. The showers are not suitable unless for the very fit as are over bath and are fitted overhead sprays. The stand alone shower is small, has only an overhead fitted spray and no fittings to hold any toiletries, this makes it very awkward to use and awkward for children.
Aside from the above, sitting in the garden on a good day is very pleasant, a table and four chairs for sitting out would make this more comfortable. Internal fittings generally ok although a coffee table would be useful! A great location just in need of a little more equipment and kitchen ware.
This cottage has the most amazing location right across the road from a tidal loch. The views are stunning in all weathers! While we were there we saw plenty of wildlife and enjoyed watching the cows across the loch. We were also lucky enough to see an Osprey! Andrew is a very welcoming and helpful host. The facilities are really comfortable and the cottage has everything you need for your stay, including a well equipped kitchen with full size fridge and freezer. There is a well sized utility/ boot room, with its own shower and washing machine. All our wet clothes dried In here well. Outside of the cottage the grounds are fenced and secure from the road but the gardens are accessible to the neighbouring cottage. It just meant keeping our dog on the lead when outside. I would recommend you travel by car, local shops are 10/15 minutes drive away and are only open in daytime hours. There are some lovely day trips and restaurants all within 20-60 minutes drive. We went to Ostell beach, Pucks Glen and had the best contrasting walks. We had a call in at Dunoon where you can cross to Paisley via ferry, although the stop and rest route via Loch Long was a great drive. At Inveraray we had a lovely walk around the castle and enjoyed the shops and cafe. Portavadie marina has a high end dog friendly restaurant, and you can also catch the ferry to Tarbert. We also visited Dunans castle, you need to book in advance. The villages of Tignabruich and Kanas are close by too. Best of all, the local area is quiet. Itâs must be why itâs called Argylls Secret Coast! We will certainly return.
Andrew and Sheila could not have done more to ensure that our stay was perfect. Perfect cottage for 4 and plenty of space for our two dogs who were made to feel very welcome. Felt totally at home. Splendid views across the loch and so much wildlife and birds to observe including white tailed eagles. We will definitely be back.
Teal Cottage was just lovely. The setting was second to none. A truly beautiful location and perfect for a holiday to restore your equilibrium. The cottage had everything that you would need on holiday and our hosts were very generous, providing us with freshly caught Mackerel on our first day. We would definitely visit again.
Comfortable cottage needing a better equipped kirchen.
Comfortable well heated cottage with two en suites and lots of space at the back door for outdoor gear and dogs' things.
The kitchen could be better equipped though, for example it could do with salad and fruit bowls, clean dishcloth and pot scrubber, more dishes so that the dishwasher runs full without our running out of dishes, and picnic things like foil wrap or plastic boxes. Also the lid of the rubbish bin doesn't work, the kettle leaked and so did two cracked mugs. A chair leg was broken and the handle fell off a tray showing it had been glued on previously, but not strongly enough! Didn't spoil our stay in any way but made cooking more of an effort than it needed to be.
This is a very well stocked property with everything you could need. It is a little 'tired' in that it does need some redecoration. it is spacious yet compact. The location is out of this world with so many wonderful views and beautiful places to visit. I loved the ferry connections with other parts of Argyll and the islands.
Fantastic functional and stylish. Lovely lochside location. You can spend hours just looking out of the window. Very cosy and warm. Owners were very friendly and helpful and we look forward to coming back with friends in the future.
This was our first visit to Argyll and Bute, it will not be our last. The cottage was perfectly situated for exploring the Secret Argyll Coast close to the ferries to Bute and Kintyre and situated on Loch Riddon on the Kyles of Bute. Stunning scenery. The cottage has two bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and an excellent kitchen. The cosy log burner and central heating make the cottage comfortable even in Winter. Andrew the owner was the perfect host and extremely welcoming and helpful. Highly recommend.
Teal Cottage is a pretty, very comfortable cottage with beautiful views of the loch and hills right from the lounge and kitchen windows. A great base for exploring Cowal, Kintyre and the surrounding areas with a whole variety of walks including coastal, mountains and glens. We had a wonderful stay here and received a warm and friendly welcome from our hosts. Highly recommended.
Relaxing, cozy, inviting, comfortable, clean and well taken care of.
The location is beautiful. overlooking a loch. Lots of wildlife to watch, including red squirrels at the back of the cottage. There is a great little local shop about 6 miles away (turn right out of the drive) that stocks just about everything you need and more. Also it's a lovely drive to get to it. To really appreciate the location of Teal cottage you need to get out and walk. It's like your in another world, just spectacular.
The cottage has more than everything you would ever need, including a set of binoculars, which we thought was a nice touch. You are well looked after by the owners, who live only a few meters away, and they give you a very warm welcome when you arrive. It does need a little bit of updating, but generally very nice.
For a really relaxing and beautiful location to visit, Teal Cottage is ideal.
We had a wonderful time staying in Teal Cottage and would have no hesitation in returning. The cottage was spotless and welcoming when we arrived. There was also a red squirrel in the garden which our host pointed out to us. Our daughter was thrilled to see one for the first time ( so was the dog!) The kitchen was very well stocked with utensils and we appreciated the pretty flowers on the kitchen table. The bathrooms were lovely and warm with plenty of nice towels. Our host was charming and helpful. We had a very happy week here. Thank you!
Fantastic size. Fully equipped with all we needed and more. Very useful having 3 bathrooms. Great space for dogs to roam. Perfectly located with stunning views and access to amazing places to visit
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Teal cottage on a weekend trip to Cowal to celebrate my wifeâs birthday. Andrew, the owner, was very welcoming and told us about the local wildlife. We found the cottage beautiful, very warm and homely and the log fire had been prepared for us to just light with a match! The area is very picturesque and we are looking forward to returning to explore further. We would definitely book Teal cottage for our next visit! 10/10.
