Charmant chalet situé dans les vignobles de Cognac, à quelques pas du Golf Du Cognac et à un jet de pierre des belles villes de Cognac et Jarnac.
Propriété sécurisée avec de vastes terrains, des prairies et des bois, un endroit tranquille où vous pourrez vous détendre au bord de la piscine et profiter de dîners en plein air dans la cuisine d’été récemment agrandie et équipée ou pique-niquer dans le pré de fleurs sauvages.
Le gîte indépendant offre une cuisine entièrement équipée-dîner et vous pouvez vous reposer dans l'accueillant luxueux chambre double lit king-size de style français avec salle de bains.
Les draps sont fournis avec des peignoirs et des serviettes de bain et de piscine.
Il y a un choix de commodités à proximité et localement nous avons de nombreux restaurants: de l'étoile Michelin au bistro français classique, tous à moins de 10 minutes en voiture.

Superbe séjour chez Lydia et Mark!

Nous avons passé 1 semaine chez Lydia et Mark et tout était parfait : l'accueil très chaleureux, le logement très propre, bien équipé et joliment décoré, les espaces extérieurs sont magnifiques (avec un bonus pour le potager!) et la région offre beaucoup d'activités. La cuisine d'extérieur autour de la piscine est très agréable. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié le panier de bienvenue fourni par Mark et Lydia ainsi que les indications sur les activités, restaurants et bar aux alentours. Nous ne pouvons que recommander ce logement pour séjourner dans les environs de Cognac !

Tout fût parfait. Accueil de grande qualité, hôtes charmants, disponibles et attentionnés. Le gîte est décoré avec goût et est très confortable. L’espace extérieur est un petit paradis avec sa piscine agréable et sa cuisine d’été fonctionnelle . son petit jardin potager est un plus pour les gourmets gourmands. Nous recommandons sans réserve !!!!

Un vrai oasis de calme dans la Charente

Les propriétaires (Lydia et Mark) étaient super charmant et sensible à tous nos vœux et besoins. Le gîte est tries bien équipé, de haute qualite et sans faute. Dans un endroit tres calme on peut ‘souffrir’ des oiseaux qui chantent chaque jour et marcher sur un grand terrain sauvage. Avec un superbe piscine (plus un plancha grillé et deuxième cuisine extérieure) et parking privée, ce gîte est vraiment un petit trésor. On va revenir. Grand merci!

Fantastique séjour !

Petit bijou dans un écrin de verdure

Dès notre arrivée, l'accueil, les petites attentions, la présentation des lieux furent des plus chaleureux. Les hôtes sont deux personnes d'une gentillesse exemplaire. Les bons conseils de Lydia, nous ont permis de rencontrer des producteurs amoureux de leur terroir. Le gîte est vraiment agréable, tout est mis en œuvre pour y passer un beau séjour. Encore un grand merci pour votre accueil.

Wonderful gite and exceptional hosts!

What a wonderful find in the heart of the cognac region. Not only was the gite well appointed and beautifully refurbished, the swimming pool area inviting and immaculate, the grounds extensive and delightful but Lydia and Mark must rate amongst the best of hosts. We were made to feel not only welcomed but a bit spoiled, with thoughtful and personal items in both fridge and hamper, an arrival drink at the pool and helpful suggestions and information about activities and the region throughout the week. Altogether a delightful and restful place to spend time and to enjoy the thoughtfully planned grounds and wildlife as well as the picturesque local countryside. A rare treat, we would return in a heartbeat!

A fabulous week in Le Dolmen

Fantastic place with perfect hosts. Bed extremely comfortable, swimming pool, vegetable garden and summer kitchen excellent. Great base for cycle rides around the area. Lovely bars and restaurants in Cognac and Jarnac. Lydia, Mark (and Poppy, the dog) are very friendly and knowledgeable hosts. Highly recommended!!

A very special place.

This really is a delightful place to stay. It’s located in beautiful surroundings; within easy reach of Cognac and Jarnac. The gite is beautiful, comfortable and well appointed with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The gardens, pool and outdoor kitchen are really special. Mark and Lydia are the best hosts we’ve ever experienced. We will be back!

Superb

We stayed at Mark & Lydia's gite for a week, and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The gite is amazing, particularly the luxurious French style bedroom which is simply beautiful. The outside kitchen and pool area was excellent and we loved eating outdoors, sometimes cooking, sometimes simply enjoying some wine & cheese. Mark & Lydia provided a lovely welcome pack, and a most generous introduction on our first evening there - thank you both so much. They were always on hand to provide advice and suggestions and were wonderful hosts. We didn't venture out too much, but very much enjoyed a trip to St Palais sur Mer which was a beautiful spot by the sea, a visit to the Hennessy Distillery and we also a visit to Angouleme during the classic car rally. The only disappointment for us was not having the pool area to ourselves for the entire week as 4 house guests arrived midway through our stay and shared the pool area.

Amazing

It was once of our best place in france. Thank you Lydia and Marc for your great and open hospitality. The place is very closed to the pretty city Cognac and other nice places arround. But you dont like to leave the nice pool and the garden because it is a little oase for recreation. The recomandation from Lydia and Marc for restaurant and destilliers was great. Lydia and Marc we will come back

Perfect Holiday Rental

We have rented many holiday homes during our travels in France. However, this is without doubt the best one we have had the pleasure of staying in. It is located in a beautiful and peaceful location yet close to a wide range of picturesque and interesting villages and towns with a great selection of local restaurants. The gite is beautifully furnished and provides quality bed linen and towels not to mention the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! The pool and outside cooking area are stunning with plenty of sunbeds available some of which are in shaded areas to escape the midday sun should you require to do so. Lydia and Mark were wonderful owners who were non-intrusive but were always on hand to offer advice on places to visit or a wide range of restaurants to eat at, and nothing was too much trouble. On arrival we found a personalised hamper containing a wide range of high quality food and drink items until we a had the opportunity to stock up at the local supermarket less than 10 minutes away. We are so pleased to have discovered Gite Dolmen and can't wait to return for future holidays. Thank you Lydia and Mark for making our holiday so special!

Amazing Gite in the Charente

It is five star accommodation in the middle of the beautiful Charente region. The location is perfect and the house has everything you need and much more with it's kingsize bed, beautiful bathroom and stunning swimming pool. We wil recommend it to everybody!!!

Truly Fabulous

We went to France to explore the Charente region and chose this property based on its location, the photo's and previous reviews. We were not disappointed !!, It is set in a peaceful location but close to all amenities, The gite itself is immaculate and well thought out with everything you would need. The pool area is stunning with an outdoor kitchen area which we used most nights. Mark and Lydia, our hosts couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful and we can't wait to return for our next adventure in this beautiful part of France. We wholeheartedly would recommend this place to anyone wanting to explore this area.

A beautiful gite, superbly equipped & decorated, with fantastic pool/cooking/seating area

Two fantastic weeks spent at Mark & Lydia's immaculate gite. Very tastefully decorated and furnished to an extremely high standard throughout - from the superb comfortable bed, walk-in shower, his/hers sinks, to the kitchen with everything for the keen cook, including sharp knives! The pool area was an important part of our rental decision and it didn't disappoint! On hot days it was blissful. It is very private with ample sun lounger space at one end and at the other end, sofa seating, large dining table and a plancha for cooking al fresco. The surrounding area is perfect for exploring by bike - they very kindly provided storage for our bikes - the roads are almost empty and the Charente river track is a short distance away. Cognac, Jarnac and beyond are all within easy reach and the river track is absolutely stunning. Kayaking on the river was especially rewarding, with plenty of kingfishers and other wildlife to be seen. The area is not teeming with tourists and everything felt very laid-back and nowhere was crowded. In conclusion, the holiday exceeded our expectations in respect of the gite, the surrounding area and our helpful, discrete, entertaining neighbours Mark & Lydia!

After leading busy work life-style, Mark & Lydia who love entertaining, decided to stop it all in the UK and to move to France to start a new life in the beautiful shire of Charente with their friendly dog Poppy and now few chicken.
Enjoying arts, antics and gastronomy, we will be very happy to share with you our experiences and favorites places to visit.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

The beautiful semi-detached Charentaise house was full of potential with many historical features. Set in the vibrant region of Cognac, it offers all sorts of attractions. Also the detached cottage was very quaint even it needed a full refurbishment to bring it out to XXIst Century!
It was a dream come true.
After a short and hard 4 months of renovations, the gite was now ready to start a new life & welcome new friends.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

The lovely size of the detached cottage was offering a huge potential to create a fabulous holiday destination. Also, the large gardens allow you to have privacy and also to choose different ways to relax: from the summer lounge & pool area newly extended to the woods, meadows, ornamental or vegetables gardens. We have created a space for you to unwind & enjoy the delights of the region: with the Cognac, wines, food, golf & many events such as music festivals to the famous classic cars race of the walled city of Angouleme and the international comic strip festival.
We are delighted to share all this with you.
