Our Stay at Hawk's Field in Ipswich
The house was wonderful, quiet, and its views of the tidelands and moon rises spectacular. We were all able to enjoy the week and reunion with East Coast family members, while also traveling to nearby tourist sites, including the New England Aquarium, Freedom Trail, and Science Museum in Boston. The directions for use of the home were very helpful. Our only issue with the house was the showers, which (we think) need an upgrade or two. Otherwise, aside from some very hot and humid -- sadly sleepless -- nights, it was exactly what we had hoped it would be. Many thanks to Sam and Laurie from all of us. ~ Robert and Mary Orellana and Family
Perfect place for a family gathering
We booked the house for a family wedding in Ispwich. It was filled with various family members over the course of a long weekend, and worked wonderfully. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking, with space for working and a table for helpers/chatters. We seated 8 for a cozy breakfast one day. The dining room seated 12 for dinner another day with no problem.
The number and configuration of bedrooms made for flexibility as people came and left on different days. Beds were comfortable, and the rooms were charming.
Our weather wasn't the greatest, but when opportunities arose, guests enjoyed walking the grounds, and the views out the windows were lovely.
Though the house feels like it's out in the country, it was also close to all the places in Ipswich we wanted to visit, including pubs and restaurants and the grocery store.
All in all, a lovely place and a great experience.
This house is spacious, comfortable, and elegantly decorated. The views of the marsh are spectacular.
We rented this home in order to be able to host a Thanksgiving meal for extended family in the area. The kitchen is well equipped and the dining room easily accommodated our group! We loved our stay.
Wonderful old house with plenty of.room and plenty of character.
Our group consisted of adults and children, age 2-16, celebrating an anniversary. The house is charming and had plenty of indoor and outdoor space for all to gather, eat and play. We loved the proximity of Crane beach and Russell Farm down the road. We purchased a trustee membership and beach pass, which I recommend for any group planning a lot of beach time. We also arranged for a mosquito spray, which was worthwhile.during our mid-August stay.
The town of Ipswitch seemed quite lively and provided any services needed. We also visited other sites in the area, including Plum Island, Rockport, and Gloucester. I would definitely return but suggest a few bathroom upgrades over the winter.
Beautiful older home overflowing with tons of historic charm.
Tons of space in this home that shows its age, but provides a peaceful relaxing atmosphere. The beds aren't necessarily the most comfortable, and we missed having air conditioning a couple of nights (though the attic fan does a good job of pulling the cool night air through the windows, it doesn't help with the humidity). The bottom line, our family vacation could not have been more enjoyable or relaxing (our family consists of my wife and me, our four daughters, four sons-in-law, and four grand children). One of our daughters lives in Manchester by the Sea (about 10 miles away), so we didn't go over the 12 occupancy at night. The only other minor problem with the house is showers need to be coordinated so only one person is showering at a time. Any other water running (washing machine, flushing toilet, etc.) while showering will reduce the flow to a trickle. This was only a minor annoyance, and did not diminish the enjoyment of our stay to any measurable degree (debated on weather or not I should even mention this). The large screened in porch on the back and sides of the house was a big hit. Spent hours here enjoying the scenery and each others' company. Laurie is a wonderful property manager, easy to work with, and will attend to whatever you need without delay. No negative surprises; everything was as advertised. Can definitely recommend to anyone looking for a large home in eastern Massachusetts to vacation in.
Perfect Place For My Family Vacation!
The house was a perfect place and had plenty of room for my family vacation. It is also very convenient to a ton of things to do and a short trip to Boston. Sam was very attentive and answered all my questions within minutes.
