Un charmant chalet familial d'époque au bord du parc national de Cairngorms

Un chalet écossais confortable, confortable et archétypal chargé d'histoire avec un grand jardin bien entretenu et une vue panoramique vers le sud; Winters Cottage dispose de 2 chambres pouvant accueillir 4 personnes - 1 grande chambre lits jumeaux et 1 double; 1 salle de bain avec douche séparée, nouvelle cuisine / chambre du matin, salon et salle de démarrage. Il est situé dans le petit hameau de Dykehead près de Glens Clova et Prosen, au bord du magnifique parc national de Cairngorms. Un chalet accueillant entouré d'une campagne à couper le souffle est l'endroit idéal pour les marcheurs passionnés, les golfeurs, les pêcheurs et ceux qui souhaitent se détendre à la fin de la journée avec un verre de vin et un bon livre à côté d'un feu de cheminée rugissant! Rural, mais à une distance touchante de la côte et de certaines des grandes villes d'Ecosse - Winters Cottage est un petit bijou.

Veuillez noter que le chalet est nettoyé par un professionnel à chaque retournement. Un service de ménage supplémentaire est disponible sur demande.

Nous sommes membres de VISIT SCOTLAND (3 étoiles - «très bien»).

NOTEZ S'IL VOUS PLAÎT:

Nous accueillons les enfants de plus de 5 ans. Malheureusement, nous ne disposons pas d'installations pour les plus jeunes.

Nous devons simplement mentionner que, malheureusement, le chalet n'est pas adapté à toute personne nécessitant un accès en fauteuil roulant. De plus, il y a 3 marches jusqu'aux chambres.

Winters Cottage est un établissement non-fumeurs.

Malheureusement, nous ne pouvons accepter les animaux.

Winters cottage is an absolute dream. My family and I visited over christmas and it came out to be the best christmas we’ve ever had. The area is quiet, with nature trails and monuments not too far away, the cottage itself was clean, stocked with everything you need, and incredibly cozy. The owner kept up consistent communication with me for months before our stay and was nothing but kind, warm and welcoming. We will absolutely be visiting again, and couldn’t recommend this location more

We had the pleasure to stay at the idyllic Winters cottage over the New Year. Throughout our stay Fiona, the host was really communicative providing many suggestions and assistance if needed. We were blessed with glorious weather especially during winter and with some days of snow, the property and nature surrounding it really had a charm from sunrise to sunset. The accommodation was clean and spacious with all the amenities provided. As there is a wood and coal bunker it really helped with keeping the cottage warm with the open and fire, especially for the kitchen. You can feel the charm of it being a historical family home and throughout the stay it provided a period of pure relaxation, being the truest experience of a a getaway. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We all loved Winters Cottage - which has clearly been loved by the family for generations. You will love it too if you like wonderful views from a spaceous garden, peace, comfort and cosy log fires. This cottage exceeds expectations. Easy access to the cottage via a lock box, great communication with the owner, everything you would need in the kitchen, easy private parking, all on one level apart from three little steps up to the bedrooms, and even a surprise third single bed in the twin room (which is large enough to easily accommodate the three beds with plenty of space to spare)!

Winter break

We spent a lovely few days at the end of December. The owner was really thoughtful and gave some excellent previsit advice. The setting was beautiful and we loved sitting by the fire after some lovely walks, feeling cosy and snug.

Christmas break

We had a lovely Christmas at Winter Cottage. It is spacious and cosy with its two real fires. The christmas decorations were a festive touch.

Beautiful cottage! In a lovely serene spot in the countryside.

Our visit to the cottage was wonderful! Was super clean, and very well stocked. The host provided lots of tips of what activities to do near the cottage as well as great food recommendations. I would definitely love to come back one day.

Cosy, comfortable, well equipped cottage at the gateway to Glen Clova. An excellent base to explore the Angus Glens and wider area, ideal for walkers. Lovely garden, with views to relax in at the end of the day.

A beautiful relaxing property

My family enjoyed a week at Winters Cottage, We found the cottage clean and tidy with everything you could need. Had a call from the owner to check if we were happy with everything. Lovely cozy rooms with open fires and log burner. Would recommend.

Just a lovely well kept family home

The description of the property is well made. What a lovely stay we had. Everything is so well organised - so well thought out. It makes me happy to think this wonderful cottage is in good hands and that it's history and charm can be enjoyed by guests such as ourselves. The next generation has taken on the mantle of caring for Winters Cottage. Our grandparents moved from Scotland to Warwickshire in the 1930s. We three ‘Winter’ sisters live in South Warwickshire and manage the cottage as a holiday destination, project managing the maintenance and restoration with care. Black ranges, box beds in the kitchen and oil lamps have all gone. Babies are no longer born at the cottage – our children no longer walk across the field to the primary school by the river at Cortachy. But this bothy still holds a special place in our hearts. We have passed our love of the cottage to our children and the next generation – the 7th in line – are now enjoying the magic of this special place. History repeats itself. How wonderful to know that some things don’t change.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

In the1850s James Winter moved to the cottage from his father’s farm in Glen Prosen where he raised 5 children with his wife Eliza. He opened a post office and drapers store to sell linen from his business in Laurencekirk in what is now the kitchen/morning room. We can just remember the mahogany shop counter, wooden floors and open fire in the 1950s. The shop closed in the late 50s but we still have mementos of times gone by, including hand made linen, Victorian furniture and books, a family bible and a clock given by Peter Pan author J M Barrie to his sister who married our ancester, William. The cottage was handed down the generations to our father Donald and on to our generation. We are proud caretakers for generations to come and we hope you love the cottage as much as we do!

Really easy to reach yet set in glorious highland scenery. At Perth you’ll soon be there. See the Grampian mountains coming into view. By Kirriemuir look out for Peter Pan; that’s where he comes from and he’s never grown up!

Can you see the red squirrels or deer feeding by the castle? Through the woods, over the river and up to Dykehead. You’re there and only 15 minutes since you left a different world. Sit under the verandah with a cup of tea and gaze at the wonderful view. It’s great to be back. Riverside walks, cycling, fishing, golf and the glens on your doorstep. Visit historic houses and castles such as Glamis, birthplace of Queen Elizabeth 11s mother and Scone Palace, crowning place of the King of Scots. Ski at Glenshee, visit the Braemar Highland Games or Balmoral Castle, Scottish home of the Royal Family. Walk the coastal path and see the quaint villages of Crail or Pittenweem, take a picnic and swim at Lunan Bay 35 minutes away. Visit historic St Andrews and Perth or Dundee, home of Scott’s ship ‘Discovery’ and the visitor centre dedicated to his fated voyage to the Antarctic. THE DUNDEE V & A MUSEUM OPENED IN SEPTEMBER 2018. FUNDAMENTAL TO THE V & A IS ITS ROLE IN PROMOTING AND ENCOURAGING THE DEVELOPMENT AND UNDERSTANDING OF BRITISH DESIGN AND IN PARTICULAR, SCOTLAND. RICH HERITAGE, CHARACTERIZED BY CREATIVITY, CRAFT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP EMERGE FROM THE SUPERLATIVE COLLECTIONS AND EXHIBITIONS.

THE CATERAN TRAIL - one of Scotland’s great trails, is a fully waymarked 64 mile route through Perthshire and the Angus glens. It follows old drove roads and ancient tracks. The Caterans were fearsome cattle thieves who raided the glens from the Middle Ages to the 17th century. (see a reference to the Battle of Saughs). Stage 4 of the 5 stages is nearest the cottage - Kirkton of Glenisla to Alyth. Take a diversion on your way back to the cottage to the Wee Bear cafe at Lintrathan or Peel Farm cafe near Lintrathan. Excellent home made cakes!
