Lovely peaceful place well off the beaten track. Excellent walking from the door especially the ridge walk to Arthur's Stone with wonderful views inland and out to sea. Within a short drive of everywhere on the Gower. We especially enjoyed walking on Pobbles and Three Cliffs beaches. The cottage is very comfortable and the owners were lovely. We are still enjoying the vegetables and honey at home and the eggs were large and tasty. Thank you for a lovely stay.
We had a fabulous time exploring the Gower Penninsula and beyond. The farm and cottage were a perfect part of the experience. Jade and James were very kind. The cottage was very comfortable and met all of our needs. Highly recommended!
Superbly situated accommodation for exploring the Gower, walking, cycling or driving, although accessed by an unmade road our normal saloon traversed it without issue, great to be on a working farm, sheep shearing was fascinating, even the Cockerell was considerate with his timing, lovely hosts, top tasting honey and lamb to be purchased, very well recommended, gives you the feeling of being remote without being so, very close to all the best beaches and amenities.
We had a wonderful stay and Jade and James were perfect hosts, a lovely greeting and a fond farewell.
The house is on a working farm so lots of baa ing and cock-a-doddle dos, which is great. We did lots of walking so the location was fantastic, no need to drive to get to a location, you walk straight from the house. Great walks, great coats and beaches. Would defiantly go again.
We have just arrived back from a wonderful stay at The Old Mill Cottage, a big thank you to Jade and James for their hospitality and being such lovely hosts! The cottage was beautiful. Clean, cosy and comfortable for our young family. The Gower is a stunning part of the world, definitely worth a visit and the cottage is the perfect base to explore every hilltop, valley and beach! Highly recommended. Don't be put off by any comments regarding the bumpy lane leading up to the farm, James works very hard to maintain it and we think he does a great job, it wasn't as difficult to navigate as we had imagined and the bumps even rocked our baby sleep on a couple of occasions! Thanks again guys we hope to be back! Thanks again for the delicious vegetables and fresh eggs - just lovely.
Lovely cottage whose isolation provide a relaxing break from the busy world.
We anticipated a wonderful time in the Gower Peninsula. The Old Mill did not disappoint us being a wonderful self contained holiday home if not a little tired. There were a few maintenance issues but everything was clean and we had no problems with the quality of the cottage. However the approach to the cottage via a 1.2 mile track was a little tortuous in places and best suited to more robust vehicles than our Peugeot 307.
James was attentive, friendly and was frequently present on the farm and provided us with Eggs and vegetables. He was quick to respond to our SOS concerning the WIFI which initially did not wish to function, but a quick reset by James and we were able to stream in the sport all week. This was just as well as it was very wet, which reflected the weather right across southern England at the time of our visit. We did managed to visit Roussily beach twice and it is a magnificent site and very pleasant walk. We would have liked to walk more but the weather prevented this. The views from the hill behind the farm are wonderful in any weather.
We had many non human visitors who loved to peer at the caged humans.
Great location, lovely cottage, and welcoming friendly hosts
Myself, partner and 3 children (10, 12, and 14) all had a wonderful time here.
The cottage was just right.
Being on a farm added to the experience, as did Jade and James who were so welcoming.
Over breakfast we watched the chickens roam about and we passed horses, and sheep on the track every day as we headed to the beach.
Three Cliffs Bay is a gorgeous quiet sandy beach, walking distance if you're feeling energetic.
But if not there is free parking at the end of the track which is about halfway.
We drove part way as had a picnics, wet suits, beach tent, body boards etc and it worked well.
I would also recommend Rhossili and Llangennith beaches, both just a short drive away.
Wonderful holiday. Hope to come back again soon!
James and Jade gave us a very warm welcome on arrival to their very lovely, clean and cosy, farm cottage. Fully immersed in farm life, beautiful countryside, walks and fabulous views and yet only a short drive to many other places of interest. A great place to stay on the Gower.
What a beautiful spot to stay. The cottage was just perfect and with the most amazing views.
We were very warmly welcomed and looked after by the hosts. James and his wife and children were just lovely!!
Can certainly recommend to stay at this farm!!
A brilliant experience to stay on a working farm with such congenial and hospitable hosts. Set in beautiful countryside but also close to amazing beaches. A perfect break.
Ideal position if you want the country side and you want the beach. Very central. The hosts are really great and friendly! A very welcoming break and I would highly recommend. Thank you Jade and James for an amazing time!
A warm welcome, gifts of farm produce and a lovely environment combined were a wonderful antidote to city stresses. Could easily stayed a second week. Thanks to our hosts.
Really lovely place. The location is remote and just what we wanted, walks from the front door and beaches close by. James was very friendly and accommodating.
For us, this was the perfect cottage; on a working farm; right on the Gower Coastal Path, so many beaches to walk too; beautiful peaceful countryside; clean property with everything you need and lovely hosts. We will be back thatâs for sure :)
We have given it five stars but we liked the remote position, the farm life etc. It wouldnât suit everyone. We didnât try the pubs etc as tended to stay in once back for the evening. The Gower is very accessible and a good, well stocked shop/cafe.
James and Jade couldnât have been more pleasant. They have a lovely cottage on a beautiful working farm in an amazing area. This is just 50% of it. They make the other 50% by being so welcoming and kind. We loved the animals (Sophie especially liked the chickens!) and seeing the new lambs was a real treat. The eggs were tasty and honey sweet :) Itâs a great place to relax and get some perspective on life. Thank you for having us and see you next time! Richard and Sophie x
The converted barn couldn't have been in a more beautiful and remote location. We were greeted on arrival by James and Jade on arrival with a basket of fresh eggs from their own chickens which were roaming around the farm yard and a basket of fresh home grown vegetables and honey from their own bees. There was a great pub about 30 minutes walk across the hills which afforded us fantastic views across the stunning beaches which were also a short walk away. The cottage was comfortable and. As a working farm, the farm aanimals wandering about were an added bonus. We had a wonderful week there and it was ideal for walking and chilling out
Here at Little Walterstone Farm we have 98 acres concentrating on sheep and cattle. We converted The Old Corn Mill into this holiday cottage in 2012 to share the beauty of the countyside. The owner of the farm is Newton Woollacott aged 74 and still working hard! However with the trials and tribulations that come with running a working farm he has to have help. Which is where i come in, my name is James Tregoning i'm 39 and married to Jade and we have a two sons and a daughter. I've been on the farm since i was 6 and worked the farm for well over 20 years. In that time together Newton and I have promoted the farm no end! 3 large new barns, stone walls that could rival Hadrian and of course we built the Old Mill cottage. Newton has asked me to manage the cottage on his behalf.
