Great accommodation. Easy parking for one car. Easy to walk into village which has good amenities. Perfect location for visiting Oxford/London as well as lovely walks in Wiltshire countryside.
From the moment you step inside it is evident that every detail was planned in the apartment. From the artwork to the comfortable bedding we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
A wonderful barn in a great little village. Communication with the host was great and the accommodation was clean and well suited to our needs. Would certainly recommmed.
The barn is a lovely open-plan that was beautifully restored - the timber framing is a wonder to admire! Aldbourne is a delightful village - one of our favorites in all of our travels around the UK. The location is an easy stroll into the village where we found the Blue Boar and The Post Office to be excellent experiences.
My husband and I loved this elegant converted barn. It was very clean and contained beautiful artwork from the owner who is a well known artist. Ardbourne is a quaint town within walking distance. There are many hiking trails in the area. This is unique property and is one of the very best we have ever stayed in!
Our family had a wonderful stay at Alma Barn. The barn itself was lovely and very accommodating for our family of 4. We loved being in a real town with Aldbourne just a quick walk away to pick up groceries, eat or just look around. Charlie & Fenella were welcoming and very responsive to all our requests. A great base from which to visit other towns nearby (Salisbury, Oxford, Lacock Abbey and Bath).
Waking up with a view of the beams of the old barn above you and the sense of history was amazing. We were always thrilled to come back "home" in the evenings. Owner very attentive. Beds great and had everything we needed.
We loved our 2 nights in Aldbourne. Just as advertised - lovely converted barn with all the modern conveniences, very comfortable beds with nice bedding in the lofts, great kitchen amenities, and sheep outside the door! Very private, can walk to small market and the town. If you want the country experience off the beaten path and the feeling that you live there rather than visit, I highly recommend this property.
My husband and I stayed at Alma Barn with our 21 yo daughter for 8 nights. We loved everything about it. The barn itself is beautifully decorated and has plenty of natural light and everything you need, along with a lovely host. Itâs located in a very quiet and beautiful location that is a few minutes walk to the quaint Aldbourne with its wonderful cafe and pubs, and a good location for daily drives to other places in the Cotswolds. Our stay at Alma Barn couldnât have been better.
The barn was in a very nice village with a countryside view. Local people were friendly and there was a lovely deli come cafe.
We went to the Battle proms at Highclere which I could recommend.
This was only a short drive away.
Quiet, Clean barn conversion. Small bathroom but very hot shower. Kitchen has what you need. Amazing lights at night. Charlie is very polite and respectful. Open plan and beds are very comfortable.
We had a lovely long weekend in this beautifully converted and creatively decorated barn conversion. The dramatic beams and high ceiling make for a really memorable place to stay. We enjoyed the countryside and went for long walks on the Lambourn Downs and the Marlborough Downs. Serious cooks may want to bring their own knives etc as the kitchen is fairly modestly equipped but, all in all, it is a great place to stay.
Weâve just returned from a weekend stay at Alma Barn and itâs a flawless country bolt-hole
Alma Barn is an imaginatively designed renovation of a historic farm building with two bedrooms on mezzanes above a wonderfully atmospheric living / dining / kitchen area with an adjoining bathroom. The decor, lightning design and furniture are all carefully selected to maximise the overall impression and comfort of the property and we loved everything about it! The owners - Charlie and Fenella - live immediately next door and are extremely helpful, but you rarely see or hear them - Alma Barn is a proper country sanctuary for total relaxation.
What can we say, this was a great place to stay. The owners were especially nice about everything, the location was a great home base for many day trips including Bath, Stonehenge, Oxford, and the Cotswolds. The area is quiet and a short walk to the small village. There were two nice historic pubs in town and a small grocery. The inside of the barn was amazing, with a very relaxing atmosphere. Our only complaint would be the very small bathroom where I had some challenges with movement. I would recommend friends and family to stay here to get away from the busy towns.
A very cozy space with a lot of comfort. Comfortable beds and cozy furnishings that make you feel right at home. The kitchen is simple, but everything you need is there. There is a terrace where you can sit outside with a view of the meadow. We stayed here with our 18-year-old daughter for a midweek and walked a lot in the area. Visited Bath. And enjoyed the small town of Aldbourne with a beautiful church from the 12th century where you can walk to and where there are two cozy pubs. At the Deli you can get delicious fresh bread.
The barn is in a great location and it was the perfect place to relax and catch up with friends.
Unfortunately the toilet wasn't clean when we arrived, but the owner was very apologetic about this . I think they use an external cleaner who may have forgotten to clean it, also the mugs in the kitchen were dirty. I'm sure this is just a one-off.
Other than that, it was a great stay! Thank you!
We were a family of 4 visiting from Canada. We love staying in VRBOs with kids because no one likes a motel room for more than a night with two kids. This space was just fantastic!! The kids thought the loft style was really neat and us adults just thought the space was beautiful. We loved the little general store in town who provided any odds and sods we might have forgotten. My husband took a trip into the pub for a night and was warmly welcomed and chatted about the history of the area. We'd highly recommend this space to anyone looking for an escape to the country. It was perfect for us. We appreciated the amenities and it was a well stocked kitchen which is refreshing when you are traveling to more than one location on an overseas trip. All in all a truly lovely place to stay!!!
We had an absolutely amazing time in this gorgeously transformed barn. Well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, surprisingly high tech features with a rustic interior. Itâs less than 10mins walk from the village centre which has a Coop and some nice pubs. If youâre looking for a relaxed holiday, I could not recommend the place more!
Alma Barn was perfect for our stay. Such a wonderful and well thought through design. The barn has such a lovely warmth about it, it makes it harder to leave to investigate the surrounding beautiful countryside. We hope to return!
The barn is beautifully converted with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Check in was very straightforward with clear directions to the barn. We were very lucky with the weather but even on the rainiest of days this would be a really cosy getaway. We'd love to come back!
We stayed in Alma barn for a week and will definitely be coming back.
The barn has everything you need and more and is in a great location, being just a 10 minute walk to the pub and village shops in Aldbourne.
The barn is beautifully lit and the owners artwork dotted around the barn is a really nice touch.
The beds are really comfy with adequate storage and mood lighting for added cosyness. You really can't fail to notice that the owners have put alot of thought into making the barn that extra bit special.
We would highly recommend a relaxing stay here.
Fenella Elms, ceramics artist, worked in the workshop at the far end of the long cottage. You will find some of her work in the barn and if you are interested Charlie is always happy to discuss her work in detail with you.
Alma Barn is attached to the end of a cottage where the owners, the Elms family, have lived for nearly 30 years. In this time the barn has been used for horses, cattle and lambing before special listing permission was given to restore the barn to make a holiday let from 2012.
