From the moment you step inside it is evident that every detail was planned in the apartment. From the artwork to the comfortable bedding we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
A wonderful barn in a great little village. Communication with the host was great and the accommodation was clean and well suited to our needs. Would certainly recommmed.
We had a lovely long weekend in this beautifully converted and creatively decorated barn conversion. The dramatic beams and high ceiling make for a really memorable place to stay. We enjoyed the countryside and went for long walks on the Lambourn Downs and the Marlborough Downs. Serious cooks may want to bring their own knives etc as the kitchen is fairly modestly equipped but, all in all, it is a great place to stay.
Weâve just returned from a weekend stay at Alma Barn and itâs a flawless country bolt-hole
Alma Barn is an imaginatively designed renovation of a historic farm building with two bedrooms on mezzanes above a wonderfully atmospheric living / dining / kitchen area with an adjoining bathroom. The decor, lightning design and furniture are all carefully selected to maximise the overall impression and comfort of the property and we loved everything about it! The owners - Charlie and Fenella - live immediately next door and are extremely helpful, but you rarely see or hear them - Alma Barn is a proper country sanctuary for total relaxation.
A very cozy space with a lot of comfort. Comfortable beds and cozy furnishings that make you feel right at home. The kitchen is simple, but everything you need is there. There is a terrace where you can sit outside with a view of the meadow. We stayed here with our 18-year-old daughter for a midweek and walked a lot in the area. Visited Bath. And enjoyed the small town of Aldbourne with a beautiful church from the 12th century where you can walk to and where there are two cozy pubs. At the Deli you can get delicious fresh bread.
The barn was in a very nice village with a countryside view. Local people were friendly and there was a lovely deli come cafe.
We went to the Battle proms at Highclere which I could recommend.
This was only a short drive away.
Quiet, Clean barn conversion. Small bathroom but very hot shower. Kitchen has what you need. Amazing lights at night. Charlie is very polite and respectful. Open plan and beds are very comfortable.
My husband and I stayed at Alma Barn with our 21 yo daughter for 8 nights. We loved everything about it. The barn itself is beautifully decorated and has plenty of natural light and everything you need, along with a lovely host. Itâs located in a very quiet and beautiful location that is a few minutes walk to the quaint Aldbourne with its wonderful cafe and pubs, and a good location for daily drives to other places in the Cotswolds. Our stay at Alma Barn couldnât have been better.
We had an absolutely amazing time in this gorgeously transformed barn. Well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, surprisingly high tech features with a rustic interior. Itâs less than 10mins walk from the village centre which has a Coop and some nice pubs. If youâre looking for a relaxed holiday, I could not recommend the place more!
Alma Barn was perfect for our stay. Such a wonderful and well thought through design. The barn has such a lovely warmth about it, it makes it harder to leave to investigate the surrounding beautiful countryside. We hope to return!
The barn is beautifully converted with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Check in was very straightforward with clear directions to the barn. We were very lucky with the weather but even on the rainiest of days this would be a really cosy getaway. We'd love to come back!
We stayed in Alma barn for a week and will definitely be coming back.
The barn has everything you need and more and is in a great location, being just a 10 minute walk to the pub and village shops in Aldbourne.
The barn is beautifully lit and the owners artwork dotted around the barn is a really nice touch.
The beds are really comfy with adequate storage and mood lighting for added cosyness. You really can't fail to notice that the owners have put alot of thought into making the barn that extra bit special.
We would highly recommend a relaxing stay here.
We really enjoyed our stay at Alma Barn. Itâs a lovely, cosy place in a great location. People in Aldbourne are so friendly and the pubs were great despite the COVID restrictions. Had the fridge been working properly our stay would have been perfect but Iâve no doubt the owners will fix this quickly as they were so responsive to any contact.
Comfortable and cozy, yet modern stay, great location
The barn has been stylefully decorated and makes for a really comfortable place from which to visit the many beautiful things the surrounding area has to offer. Many great places to visit within an hours drive, and the village with some good pubs, shops and playgarden is just a small walk away. Owners are quick and friendly in their responses. Definitely recommended!
Property was as described ... just great. Access to many places and was super to sit on outside space for breakfast ... not always an option in Scotland!!
We enjoyed our stay very much, it was so nice to get away from London and just relax! The barn is beautifully converted, quiet and cozy. There's so much to see and hear, it was so nice to wake up to ! We love the booklet they gave us about the local wildlife as we are very much into that.
What let the property down was the minor broken things, the flies and the cleanliness.
There were coffee stains on the table and dirt in the grooves which wasn't great but the worst was dust. It was just so dusty. I have pretty bad asthma so we ended up vacuuming the place which isn't something you want to do when your on holiday.
when we had the fan on, the amount of things flying out of the light shade was horrible. A few draws were unstable or broken and a fly trap would have worked wonders because there's lots of them.
We also didnt get our honey from their bees which was a bummer!
I just wish they took more care of the barn because despite these things it was so wonderful and we really wanted to visit again.
Great rental. Perfect for our night away and would definitely recommend!!

Qui vous reçoit ?
Vous ĂȘtes reçu par Charlie Elms
Fenella Elms, ceramics artist, worked in the workshop at the far end of the long cottage. You will find some of her work in the barn and if you are interested Charlie is always happy to discuss her work in detail with you.
Alma Barn is attached to the end of a cottage where the owners, the Elms family, have lived for nearly 30 years. In this time the barn has been used for horses, cattle and lambing before special listing permission was given to restore the barn to make a holiday let from 2012.
