Lovely stay in a beautiful setting. Lots to see and do in the surrounding area. House was clean, well located for our needs, great enclosed garden, well equipped, warm and comfortable. Plenty of space. Kids loved the toys, games and books in the house and playground and nearby beach. We will definitely return. Thank you
We (6 adults) booked this property from 31st Dec 2024 to 3rd Jan 2025 to take in the New Year. Booking was easy and Gillian (our host) was extremely helpful. I would highly recommend this cottage.
There were quite a few pleasant surprises with our family holiday at this rather remote place:
- The route from Glasgow to Southend was simply superb! There are so many scenic views with different feels that we were not ever bored on our 4 hrs or so journey.
- The cottage is part of a very well-established good-sized village. The communal playground has a great view and plenty of stuff for kids. The nearby tearoom serves great cakes which everyone can indulge in.
- There are so many beautiful beaches nearby.
The slight reservations we initially had for this cottage due to its rather remote location have all evaporated while we were nearing the town at sunset. Seeing the idyllic hills and beaches the following morning just brought a smile to everyone's face.
Stayed here last year and liked it so much booked again. Great location in Southend village. Next to village shop and Award Winning Muneroy Tea room, 5 mins walk to the Argyll Arms Hotel/Pub and 10 mins walk to the Golf Course and then Dunaverty Beach. Truly a home from home, very comfortable and well equipped accommodation. The sun is in the garden all day with garden chairs provided allowing you to sit out, relax and enjoy.
Very comfortable and all mod cons provided. Pretty interior. Very easy to fit all the family comfortably. The only downside was the nesting birds under the eaves. Extremely noisy from 4.30am. I think netting or wires would prevent them nesting. By the time I left I was dreaming of house Martin curry as a temporary solution at least.

Osborne cottage
Well equipped, clean and homely. Great place to stay for walks, beaches and golf
The property is charming and very well appointed.
Everything you could possibly need for a fantastic holiday has been thought of.
We enjoyed lovely walks on the beach where watching the seals kept us amused and scenic drives in the local area were amazing.
We had a great relaxing holiday and will be back.
The cottage was kitted out with everything you could think of, it even had golf clubs and bikes!!! Internally it was beautifully decorated and was light and airy and very welcoming.
It is in a superb location, close to the beach, close to the golf course and it has a pub/restaurant only a 3 min walk away.
I would highly recommend to families looking for a relaxing rural retreat or golfers looking to play the three courses in the area.
Fantastic location in Southend. Fully equipped nothing you could want for! Truly a home from home
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this fantastic cottage right in the village of Southend. Award winning Muneroy tearoom and the Argyll Arms hotel 2 minutes away offers you a very warm welcome! Dunaverty beach and Dunaverty golf course all within walking distance of say 10/15 minutes. I have never experienced such a well equipped self catering cottage. Osbourne Cottage is truly a home from home with everything available that you could need both within and outwith the house. A lovely back garden where you can sit out, on the garden furniture, and enjoy the sunshine well into the evening. Such a great cottage in a tranquil and beautiful part of Scotland. We even got to meet the owners, Gillian and Iain, who were so helpful and friendly. The booking process was easy and the customer service was Excellent! I can't recommend highly enough.
As usual a great stay. One problem I should point out though is the feather pillows etc. One of our company is allergy to feathers. However thankfully we managed to work with blankets and pillows found in the wardrobes.
Thanks again.

So looking forward to going to what was described as a luxury cottage . We always stay in cottages for holidays and this was by far the most expensive and poorest quality ever . The house unfortunately was not very clean ,in particular the kitchen with dust everywhere and dead flies embedded in the cooker extractor hood . The main bathroom also needs a regrout as there is mould, the hand basin was chipped and toilet bowl cracked with evidence of an attempted repair . The main bed duvet smelled sweaty and there were no pillow protectors - pretty basic requirement in a good quality let ! Every other cottage weâve stayed in had a lovely welcome pack filled with local produce -not even a pint of long life milk in this one ! The info regarding WIFI gave code for Sky although it was actually BT so we had to find pass key ourselves . Please, please get this place a good deep clean and stop advertising it as luxury as it is not . If it wasnât for the wonderful weather which allowed us to spend little time in the house weâd have packed up and gone home very quickly .Please also be aware that we are anything but house proud and have a home with many visitors ,dogs , cats and even a rabbit who hops in and out as she wishes but this place was basically unclean with filthy skirting boards and bedroom carpets stained with who knows what ! What a let down and in view of our experience here we doubt if we would use HomeAway again .
Osborne cottage is everything it says on the tin! Beautifully presented in terms of accommodation (3 spacious bedrooms) and extremely well equipped. Just like walking into a family home and more than adequate for our 3 generation family. We visited on recommendation and were not disappointed!! We will definitely return to further enjoy the fabulous cooking and baking at the local cafe Muneroy, golf at Dunaverty, wonderful scenery and, for children and dogs, fantastic beaches. I'd recommend Osborne cottage and Southend to all age groups.
