Gite or self-contained modernized wing of a lovely old house. Private and set in park-like grounds. Well insulated so very cool inside in summer. High beamed ceilings and ceramic tiled floors, quality furnishings and furniture. Large open plan living/dining/kitchen area. Two spacious bedrooms with double bed. Family bathroom between the bedrooms. Separate laundry room with washing machine, additional fridge and freezer space. Large terrace covered by a fabric awning with a barbecue area. Nearly two acres of lawns with hedges and shrubs. Plenty of off-street parking.
Perfectly charming French farmhouse vibe. The owners are kind and thoughtful. When we mentioned a desire for morning coffee, they went out and bought a new coffeemaker for our use. Comfortable beds in the home, which is well equipped with linens and other items to make your stay a pleasant one. Convenient to a grocery store which has everything one might need. We enjoyed our stay!
This was so much better than the photos suggest. The host is very friendly and helpful and the gite is set in a large garden with sunny patio surrounded by flowers. Inside the rooms are spacious with antique furniture giving it very much a french gite feel.
It is walking distance of Duras which is a pretty town with a market on a Monday and places to eat and drink. We also visited the chocolate factory a short drive away. There are also plenty of vineyards to visit.
This is a ideal place to stay if you want to explore the region.
Spacious and comfortable throughout. Standard of cleanliness needed improvement.
Only cursory instructions given for tv. Electricity was tripped about 10 times when oven was switched on.
Useful laundry room, good shower with plenty of hot water.
Could be wonderful with some improvements.
We did enjoy our stay.
We enjoyed a great week in this gite, a lovingly restored building which is now very well equipped and comfortable. Hiram and Stephen were genial hosts. Hope to go back some day.
Fantastic stay. Two couples for a short stay in Duras and it was perfect for us. Lovely spacious space with all the amenities you need and more! Superbly located in a lovely spot. Great little terrace and the highlight were the hosts! Very friendly, welcoming and very accommodating. Lovely people. Would highly recommend
We enjoyed our stay in Duras. We were warmly welcomed by our hosts. The appartment is nicely cool, a plus when it is very warm in the daytime. The appartment is spacious and well equiped. Duras is a good starting point for daytrips to the beautiful bastides in the region. In all, a positive experience.
Wonderful hosts. Property only 2km from the centre-ville of Duras with proximity to many historical villages, bastides and castles of this beautiful region of France. Very spacious with tasteful furniture and excellently appointed. Charming patio in a large private garden.
The hosts were as congenial as ever. We have stayed here before and will do so again. The gite is well-appinted, in lovely grounds. Great base for visiting the Dordogne......Duras is a lovely bastide town. Difficult to do anything but praise glowingly.

We had a great stay in this house and loved the way it was decorated. Ian took good care of us and some first needed staples were in the fridge.
But the house is not an oasis of tranquility if you are enjoying the great terrace outside since it is located on very busy road and the garden is in front of the house and not in the back where you would not notice it. Also the house is not quite finished yet it needs some painting to make it a fantastic house. We really loved our stay, the beds were really good even thoug they had the usuals frnech size. We loved the town ofDuras which is close by. But we really enjoyed our stay.
Relaxing stay....enjoyable....great surroundings....congenial hosts.....thanks to Steven, Hiram & Ian. This property is well equipped, comfortable with delightful aspects....well worth a stay.....
Comfortable bed and nice towels. The accomodation is the old barn attached to the house and has high ceilings and large rooms. Lovely garden and outside space in which to relax.
Very nice and calm place. The host was very kind and prepared our visit like we were his family. All comfort was present in the house. We had only to bring our foot and drinks..Perfect
Duras is a lovely place with his castle, market place and good restaurants. A visit into the castle is really recommended.
Good centralized is you want to visit Lot de Garonne or Dordogne..
my mother and i had the most wonderful 4 days at this lovely gite, the host was fantastic and treated us like one of the family . the gite had some lovely furniture and the beds were very comfortable . the garden was beautiful , just the spot to enjoy a glass of french wine. the town of duras with its restaurants bars and chateau is just a stones throw away. the gite is very good value , highly recommend it,

We are an American/British couple who live in Oxford city centre, but love France and the French way of life. We spend as much time at our home in France as we can; however I am still working for the NHS and can't get away as much as I would like. My CP, Stephen, is a retired NHS property consultant/surveyor. Our dream is to be able to afford to retire to France (both of us) someday. Stephen can be in France much more often than I can, so he will be the on-site manager when we have guests. We love our little bit of ''heaven on Earth'' and hope that our guests will also.
We searched most of Western France for nearly 10 years before settling on the Lot-et-Garonne department. We like the mild(ish) winters and the long, hot summers of the area. Our house is rural, but not isolated. We are only 2 km from Duras, on the D668 which is a well-traveled link road from Duras to Miramont de Guyenne. Bergerac airport is approximately 45 minutes away and Bordeaux is just over an hour away by car. The area has many vineyards and fruit orchards.
