Good, comfortable base for great walks in the Pyrenees
A very pleasant house, well equipped and comfortable, with a nice garden and a splendid view over the valley. Plenty of walks in magnificent mountian scenery within easy reach.
A lovely house in a very beautiful and peaceful setting. Very well equipped and comfortably furnished.
The owner could bot have been kinder or more helpful in advance of our stay.
One of the nicest houses we have stayed in. We hope to return next year and for many years in the future.
Our group of 5 recently spent a wonderful 2 weeks at this property in Luz. As a cyclist the location could not have been better with numerous iconic climbs within riding distance as well as less well documented ones. For non-cyclists the area has plenty of other activities to pass the time including an open air municipal swimming pool, the Spa is well worth a visit and the Cirque de Gavarnie is also a must.
The town of Luz is also a great base. Plenty of cafes and restaurants, we did not have a bad meal in the time we were there, and also really nice bakers, butchers and small supermarkets for self-catering. The house is located an approx. 10 minute walk from the town centre, downhill on the way, uphill on the way back which has the bonus of burning off the calories taken on board in town!
The house is compact but more than adequate for a family of 5 (three adults and two teenagers in our case) especially when you can spread out into the little garden. The house is well equipped with pretty much everything you need to cater for yourself and the secure storage locker for the bikes is very useful.
Monica and Andrew are fantastic hosts who obviously have a lot of pride in their house and provide loads of local information and nothing was too much trouble for them.
We would highly recommend both this house and the town and plan on returning in the not too distant future.

Since buying Maison d'Emilie In 2001we have both retired and the cottage is a perfect place to visit all year to escape. Our grown up children love to come out with their families to cycle, ski and walk in the mountains as does our Golden Retriever Darcy! We are British and love France, especially the Pyrenees which is perfect for our holidays!
We first visited Luz in 1999 for a 2 week holiday, there was so much to see and do in the area we returned the next year.Whilst we were walking along the GR 10 footpath we spotted Maison's d' Emilie being built, and thought this may be for us! We have been delighted with our buy and after 20 years we are still finding new things to see and do. Luz is the perfect place to escape to you if you enjoy the great outdoors, there is plenty to do all year round. We love the flowers in early summer, the butterflies and birds, and the skiing in winter and we walk in all seasons.
