The Cottage was comfortable, provided everything we needed for a peaceful& restful stay.
The garden was very private and we felt secure being in a gated community.
The location is good and in easy reach of Hout Bay,Kalk & Simonstown with their excellent Restaurants.
Its hard to believe my husband & I have owned Brodie Cottage for over 17 years now. It was during my first visit to Cape Town that we came across Brodie Cottage. My husband always said that if there was anywhere else in the world he would want to live apart from the UK it would be South Africa. He has travelled extensively throughout his working life and it was his conclusion and I have come very much to agree with it. Our children were very surprised when we told them on our return from my first trip to South Africa that we had bought a house! It had not been our intention & was most certainly out of character but not for a moment have we regretted our quick decision. All our children just love going out now for holidays with their own young families now. Not only was it a very good investment but you just can't put a price on the pleasure it has given us. By the way, its called Brodie Cottage after one of our boxer dogs. He was an adorable rascal but will never be forgotten!
Brodie Cottage is in an ideal location being not far from the airport but also very close to all attractions of the Western Cape. The cottage itself is in a gated secure estate very close to vineyards, excellent restaurants and beautiful beaches. Although we ourselves live in the UK the house is managed by the owner of a renowned B & B in Noordhoek village.
Cape Town, being in the southern hemisphere is ideal to visit in November through to the end of April. Some people like the heat of December, January & February. Others prefer March & April when there is little wind. The spring & autumn have charms of their own & often the day temperatures can reach into the mid 20s. Its on the edge of the Silvermine Nature Reserve, ideal for walking and the wild flowers are a sight to be seen especially in spring! In the coolish spring or autumn evenings the open fire in the lounge is deal for keeping the place nice and warm. Only June & July are not ideal months for visiting.
Brodie Cottage has a very special charm. We fell in love with it when we first saw it all those years ago. Its so light & airy downstairs even on the hottest of days.
