Beautiful villa in a stunning location

Fantastic holiday in a beautiful villa in a stunning location. We have visited Almyrida for many years and stayed in a number of different villas, but Villa Tamos is definitely one of the most beautiful and well-equipped villas we've ever stayed in, the pool was a huge hit, and the location was absolutely stunning. We very much hope to return soon.

Beautiful Villa in a stunning location

Villa Tamos is beautiful - very clean, fully equipped, comfortable, gorgeous location with an amazing huge and warm pool. My family of 4 had a wonderful 2 weeks there this August and we were all very sad to leave! Communication with the owner was excellent before and during our stay and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. The fascinating Roman ruins at Aptera are only 25 minutes away and we were spoilt for choice for beaches. An amazing holiday!!!

Beautiful Villa with panoramic views

Lorraine & Stuart were fantastic hosts before & during our stay. A beautiful property with lovely views across to Chania & White Mountains. Very comfortable and amazing pool. (Largest we have had to date). Everything you could need is available making it a home from home experience. Lots of places to discover just a short car journey away including restaurants and beaches as well as supermarkets all in easy reach.

Idlyllic location, views to die for, a perfect place to stay. The villa was spotless, as was the pool and the villa was well equipped, everything we needed was there. Thoroughly recommended as a great place to stay to explore Western Crete, though you may find it hard to drag yourself away from the pool. A car is required but the nearest supermarkets/restaurants are only a 5 minute drive away.

A little slice of Cretan paradise

Villa Tamos is a wonderful, well-equipped, spacious villa in a beautiful setting and we absolutely loved our time there. The pool is as perfect as the view and grounds and Stuart and Lorraine were super-helpful hosts. The villa is well located for exploring Crete and the restaurants/bars/shops of Almyrida are only ten minutes drive away. There is a long unmade track to the property, which needs driving with care, but it's well worth it, and we hope to return one day! Thank you for everything. 10/10 from the Ross Family.

Beautiful well-equiped villa with spacious garden

We stayed with our son and daughter (age 19 and 17) for 1 week in May 2018 in this beautiful villa. The house is clean and well equipped, peaceful/quiet and offers stunning views of the sea and mountains. The garden is spacious and offers absolute privacy. The beach from Almyrida can be reached by a nice 30 min walk, but the swimming pool is also clean and refreshing. The welcome basket with breakfast items and drinks was much appreciated as we arrived late in the evening. We would love to come back! Manon Z

Magnificent view

Had a fantastic 5 day break at Villa Tamos, could have easily stayed longer. A view to kill for from the terrace and around the pool, magnificent. Even though it was starting to get cool in the UK in October we still have lovely weather in Crete. The Villa has everything and all the comforts you could possibly want from a home away from home & if you don't want to cook then the coastal village of Almirida is very close with some excellent eating places. If you like history and atmosphere then Chania is brilliant. Would also recommend a visit to the WW2 Commonwealth War Graves cemetery on the way back to the airport. I think everyone had a tear in their eyes.

Perfect location, great hosts

This is a beautiful location with a stunning view. It's very peaceful but only a few minutes drive from Almyrida which is a small town but has an incredible number of wonderful and friendly restaurants and a lovely beach. From the villa you can also walk to a village which has a couple of little restaurants. The pool was a really great size and the outdoor pool shower was appreciated. I loved the garden with lots of little hidden areas and filled with beautiful flowers and plants, lots of old olive trees and a very impressive lemon tree. The beds were much bigger than they look in the photos and mattresses were very comfortable. Our hosts were very helpful and responsive but not at all intrusive. The wi-fi was also very reliable and fast which is great for such a rural villa. We missed having some kind of outdoor sofa type seating but that certainly wouldn't detract us from coming back and highly recommending this villa that gave us such a great holiday! Thank you!

Unbelievable

We did our homework...Villa Tamos is by far the nicest HomeAway property we have ever rented. (Barcelona, Mallorca, Rome, 3X Miami Beach, Manhattan) It is much nicer than pictured and far nicer than any of the reviews described it. The view, the house, the property, the pool and the location are superb. Lorraine lives close by and and will go out of her way to help in any way she can. My girlfriend spent literally all day long in the pool. which was perfect temperature. Thank goodness we had a car, as the walk into town is a little too strenuous. We never ventured farther than Almyida; there were very nice restaurants there right along the water. We fully intend to return. Thank you Mr & Mrs Baker Pavlina from Prague & Jim from Pennsylvania

Idyllic stay in the heart of Crete

We had a wonderful time! The house and property are located on a hill in western Crete within easy driving distance of many sites including Chania - we planned a lot of touring. We were able to hike the Imbros Gorge and beaches at Elafinisi and Balos (highly recommended!), among other outings. The house is essentially new, and has all the facilities we were looking for - we especially loved meals and enjoying drinks poolside! The lemon tree's fruits were a bonus!!! The sunset views are surprisingly spectacular, overlooking the hills and sea! The house is equipped with three bedrooms, including one double bed and two rooms with two single beds each - all rooms were comfortably air conditioned. Although we normally had to drive almost anywhere given our agenda, it was nice to walk a couple of times to Douliana for dinner: Heloistasi restaurant was a nice find! The only drawback are the roads to approach (wasn't really an issue for us), honestly a general issue in Crete off the main roads (!!): expect about 2km of challenging off-road driving to approach the house.

Fantastic villa in peaceful surroundings - with great pool.

Communication with Lorraine and Stuart was excellent. Our visit was in September 2020 - and there had been a lot of uncertainty as to whether we would be able to travel to Crete due to Covid 19. The villa was relatively easy to find with the directions supplied - although we did also use a satnav. As other reviews state - some of the roads leading to it are unpaved, steep and uneven in places - however we were in a rented Citreon C1 which coped without a problem. The villa was spotlessly clean and well maintained. It is spacious and has adequate cooking facilities. The pool is a great size, was always warm as it benefits from sun for most of the day. The views from pool area and the balconies were a pleasure to wake up to. The villa is well situated to visit the western half of Crete. The village of Douliana which is approx. a 1 kilometre away has 2 reasonably priced restaurants - food in both was very tasty and plentiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the villa - very relaxing and would highly recommend it.

Superbe, Vue, Équipements, Accueil

Une superbe vue sur la mer, une piscine toujours propre, une villa très jolie et pratique, parfaitement équipée, tout comme chez soi, et le soleil chaque jour. Que demander de plus pour se reposer et découvrir les beaux sites et paysages de la Crète. C'est la 5eme fois que nous venons sur cette île et c'est toujours un bonheur et de paisibles vacances. Nous préférons cette partie à l'ouest pour ses paysages, grottes, plages magnifiques. A notre arrivée très tardive, tout le nécessaire nous attendait: bouteille d'eau fraîche, de vin, et du beurre au frigidaire ainsi que de la bonne huile maison, du café, thé, petits beurre, pain... De très belles attentions. Encore merci à Lorraine et Stuart très sympathiques et accueillants. A recommander sans aucune hésitation. 👍

PARFAIT

Cette villa, représentait exactement ce que nous recherchions pour ces 11 nuits passées en Crête. la maison est très bien organisée tant au niveau des pièces que de leurs équipements. Les extérieurs sont très propres, la piscine est absolument parfaite et l'ensemble est très bien entretenu. les informations pour l'arrivée et l'accueil sur place (nous sommes arrivés tard le soir). étaient très bien. Nous nous sommes sentis vraiment accueillis et attendus, c'est très agréable. Lorraine est Stuart sont très attentifs au bien-être de leurs locataires. et ils sont de très bons conseils, je suggère de bien lire leurs documents, tout y figure et ce sont de bonnes adresses. En résumé: beauté du cadre, superbes équipements, service au top, la piscine et la vue sont très très bien, nous avons pu bénéficier d'une bien agréable intimité que ce genre de vacances requiert. Merci beaucoup à Lorraine et Stuart, nous avons passé de belles vacances grâce à vous. Je ne peux que recommander cette location sans aucune restriction. Eric et Véro

Superbes vacances

Nous avons passé un superbe séjour dans cette magnifique villa. Tranquillité et contact avec la nature. Nous étions réveillés par les cigales et le bêlement des chèvres. Le coucher du soleil est splendide. Très bonne communication avec Lorraine et Stuart. Et rien à dire sur la sympathie des habitants de cette île. C est la meilleure location que nous avons eu depuis que nous réservons sur abritel. Nous reviendrons avec plaisir.

So nice and relaxing

really a nice and relaxing place. Splendid villa and very good condition. I really recommend it to families. Only one piece to take into account, which is not related to the villa but more to the road to get there - it is quite ruff and not recommended for a sport car.

Excellent séjour !

La villa est magnifique et bien entretenue ! La piscine est grande et belle. L'endroit est au calme dans la verdure et la région aux alentours est superbe. Il y a une belle plage à Kalyves à environ 15 min en voiture et de charmants villages. Nous conseillons vivement. Si c'est possible, nous reviendrons dans cette villa.

Die Lage des Hauses mit Blick auf’s Meer und die Berge ist unfassbar schön! Rundherum wunderschöner alter Baumbestand! Das Haus und der großzügige Pool sind in einem sehr gepflegten, sauberen Zustand! Absolut empfehlenswert!!!!!

Lovely villa with great location

Beautiful villa with great view. It was nice to have breakfast at the patio and enjoy the view. Pool was great and we really spend a lot of time swimming. Garden was beautiful, we loved the big olive trees. Villa was in very good condition and there was everything we needed in the kitchen. We had great evenings watching the sun go down and enjoy warm nights in the balcony.

Traumhafter Urlaub mit Blick auf das Meer und grüne Berge

Wir haben zwei wundervolle Wochen in dem Haus verbracht. Die Lage ist fantastisch, man wohnt absolut ruhig und blickt auf grüne Berge und das Meer. Der Pool war für unsere Tochter das absolute Highlight. Lorraine ist eine sehr herzliche und freundliche Vermieterin und gibt gerne Tipps zur Umgebung. Herzlichen Dank!

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

This area is stunningly beautiful. Every view is a photo opportunity.
The peace and tranquility of the place and the laid back life style just instantly relax me. The people are so warm and welcoming.
I love that the shops close on Wednesday afternoons and Sundays, so that they can spend time with family.
The food is a revelation and I always return home promising to have to be extra good after over indulging!

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

The view speaks for itself. It took our breath away and we just love it.
We love that we have the peace and quiet and privacy of our own place in the sun, but within a couple of minutes can be down at the beach with some wonderful tavernas.
