We loved the property. We spent a lot of time watching the colorful and interesting birds from the patio. The views are amazing and the house very clean. We didn't want to leave!
Super responsive host, most beautiful views, property well cared for with fantastic landscaping. Highly recommend this VRBO. Would suggest coming with snacks or meals. We would go out for the day and come back but you wonât want to come up and down that mountain at night so we had food with us. The thermal pools are a great suggestion. Loved it.
This place was fantastic. Truly a place to escape, relax and disconnect from noise, traffic and the concrete of life. Beautiful mountain abode with amazing views. Take a moment to read the history of the area and the place. Thank you for having us.
Casa Bartiz was everything we could have hoped for and more. The home and surrounding land are beautiful and lovingly cared for by the owners. Vera was attentive to our every need. Peace, quiet, stunning views and a great bed for a wonderful nightâs sleep. Donât hesitate. This is the one!
The property was incredibly beautiful , the house was very comfortable & well appointed . Everything was as described . The owner was quick to respond to all my correspondence. The caretakers on the property were very friendly . We loved the area , so isolated & private , yet only minutes to the town & shopping .. would love to visit again & would highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful area to sit on the Beautuful porch & watch nature ..yet able to get to everything in a few minutes ...
My son and I had a great experience at this lovely casa. Location has spectacular views!! Close to Cartago (much easier to navigate and get around than San Jose). Basilica and ruins worth checking out. Lankester Gardens, Irazu volcano, town of Orosi all close by. We enjoyed the âswimming holeâ listed in guide provided by owner.
House itself is beautiful. Would work well for our family of four in future.
Staff is lovely and made everything easy and comfy. Mari brought fresh baking to us on our arrival night. So sweet, and while language was limited on both ends we felt a warm hospitality from her. Definitely order the breakfast for a treat the first day :)
Highly recommend!
We stayed for six weeks in this beautiful mountainside property. It was exactly what we wanted - restful and relaxing. The property is at the top of a steep hill and is somewhat isolated so a car is required. We did not intend to travel around very much and were happy to take up Vera's offer to rent their car now and again. It worked very well for us.
Vera and Georges were in residence at their house during our stay; they are wonderfully kind and friendly. We enjoyed getting to know them. The people who work at the farm are charming. Osso, the dog, is a delight.
The house is very well equipped and comfortable; the Wi-Fi was excellent.
The gardens are gorgeous; it was a real pleasure to sit outside in such beautiful surroundings.
From the moment of inquiry we knew this was the place to stay during our vacation. Ms. Vera arranged for transportation to be provided for us from SJO to their rental home. Our flight arrived at Midnight, so meeting Fransisco at the airport was a blessing and with that said, we were also allowed to check in early at the house. We were pleasantly surprised to find bottled water, coffee, and snacks waiting for us so that we could enjoy upon our arrival.
Later that same day we met Doña Ana who showed us around the house and where we could find toiletries if needed. She is a little angel in disguise... We fell ill during our stay and Doña Ana checked up on us everyday. She makes some real good cheese empanadas by the way! Talking about cheese, just down the street lives Don Alvaro who makes and sells fresh cheese that we enjoyed.
Fransisco, who lives on the premises was gracious enough to invite us for lunch with his family. They made us feel like part of the family and the food was delicious. Fransisco, also offered to be our guide right from the beginning which was really nice of of him.
The best part of our stay was meeting Don Oscar, Ms. Vera's father. We will always cherish our moments that we were able to share with him in conversation and dining. Don Oscar was always concerned that we were fine and we thank him for his hospitality.
As for the house, it was terrific. There was more than enough room for my husband, son and I. We decided to stay home in the evenings and enjoyed the movie selection that was available. We cherished waking up to the sounds of chirping birds and to the majestic and breathtaking views that surrounded the house. We would enjoy our down time out on the patio drinking our morning and afternoon coffee. We ended up extending our stay for an additional four days due to the wonderful hospitality. We will definitely consider booking from Ms. Vera again.
We would definitely recommend staying here and hope to meet Ms. Vera in person sometime in the near future.
A lovely house between Orosi and Paraiso, overlooking the Orosi Valley. Not far outside Paraiso--Waze took us right there. The house is beautiful and comfortable and very well appointed and supplied. The owner is only onsite part of the time, but is promptly available via WhatsApp. Her onsite assistant doesn't speak English, but we did fine with a little bit of Spanish and WhatsApp with the owner who speaks excellent English. We want to return to Casa Bartzis on a future trip--it's a winner!
We enjoyed 2 days here. House was clean, had everything we needed and more. We enjoyed exploring Orosi, the Irazu volcano and Hacienda Orosi thermal pools and farm. House is in a family owned coffee plantation farm with amazing views and gardens all around. We do not speak much Spanish so had a little difficulty understanding all the check in info. There is a helpful notebook that we found on bookshelf near TV stand that included the house info. We stumbled across this as we were checking out their books on Costa Rica. Would be helpful to leave this out on the counter for guests at time of arrival. Wasnât clear to us how the house alarm system worked so some additional directions on this would help too. The roof makes many noises at night and found my white noise app on my phone to help me sleep and drown out the sounds.
We enjoyed our quick stay there after we had spent the first half of our trip in the hot southern beaches of Costa Rica in a small town called Punta Banco. The cooler climate here was refreshing . We will certainly consider going back to this house again in the future. We had no trouble finding the house and Waze maps worked fine. 4 wheel drive is recommended, it was about a 45 min drive from main airport in San Jose.
We enjoyed our visit in this beautiful place The house was wonderful and everything was excellent. There are lots of windows with breathtaking views of the mountains. The caretakers landscaped the yard with many flowering plants. We had delicious breakfast served to up two days and it was sit up on our deck The owners and caretakers where very friendly and helpful. It was a lovely place to stay.
A stunning way to wake up in such a gorgeous country!
We absolutely loved this property. This was our first visit to Costa Rica, and we wanted an authentic trip. Waking up in the clouds, with the birds singing was beyond relaxing. The host was very communicative, and accommodating. The roads there are a bit sketchy, but our rental was fully able to handle it even in the rain. We would definetly stay there again.
The location was ideal. Beautiful views. Close to many points of interest to visit: the botanical gardens, hot springs, the church ruins of Ujarras, the 300 year old Church of Orosi. Restaurants and stores in the nearby towns. The house itself was AMAZING! Everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. Great hostess and staff. Wish we could've stayed longer!
This property and this experience exceeded our expectations. This is a perfect home which feels and looks like new overlooking the stunning jungle valley. It had everything you need and more. We loved eating outsider in the large covered patio area enjoying the view.
Hilda the on site manager and her dogs visited us daily to check in on us.
We spent an afternoon hiking thru the lovely dense jungle paths of Tappani National park to enjoy waterfalls, a beautiful river and one of the wettest most diverse jungle areas in the country. Another day we just enjoyed the fresh cool morning air and in the afternoon lounged in second floor lounge area soaking in environment while the wash was drying on the line in the breeze.
Was a very comfortable home, environment and area to experience.
Absolutely great with no negatives what so ever. If you are considering a stay with these folks, think no more & book it. You will not be disappointed. 5 stars!
What a beautiful house and view. Everyone was so nice. A little difficult to get to, but worth the journey. We had bald tires on our rental car. Vera upgraded us to a brand new gorgeous house. Thank you for your hospitality.
I was born in Costa Rica but moved to Canada more than 30 years ago. I am a Food Scientist and work in Product Development in a Bakery plant. My husband was born in Greece and also moved to Canada when he was a teenager. We have owned several Restaurants in the Toronto area. We have two grown up sons. One of them is an engineer and made this vacation home for us. We plan, once we are retired, to expend the cold winters months of Canada in this vacation home.
The house is in a coffee farm, surrounded by gardens and cultivated land. It is close to a village where many of the local workers live. From the house you can enjoy an amazing mountains view and have a peaceful contact with Costa Rica's nature The weather is unbeatable with warm days and cooler nights for a comfortable stay.
