The apartment has one bedroom, one bathroom and a kitchen stocked with basic kitchen tools and utinsils. The apartment is located at the back of the home and is a basement apartment. There is additional sleeping in the living room area for a total of up to 5. For pilots, the home is located on a private runway with tie downs. For non pilots, or those concerned about aircraft noise, the owner is the only one flying in or out of the runway. Air traffic is very minimal. The home sets in a quiet neighborhood tucked in the woods with mountain views from a short stroll in front of the house.
Wonderful place to stay! I highly recommend this place to stay!! My 2 grandsons age 18 and 15 and I really liked this place! Very clean and had everything we needed. Quiet and beds were comfortable. Joe was a great host and. very helpful and very nice to work with. We highly recommend this place! Very close to Denali National Park (20 minutes). We went on a green bus tour of Denali. Great views of mountains and wildlife. I recommend going on this tour. Prospectorâs Pizzeria was great. Next door is Northern Lights Gift Shop with lots to pick from.
Nice House. The basement touch is interesting. Especially in summer it was great, as it gave the impression of dusk so sleeping was easier. Apartment had everything we wanted as far as kitchen supplies, extra bedding etc. would recommend for a stay to others.
Joseph was a great host - and my family even got to enjoy seeing him fly off on his on plane! Nice little bonus for the little guy for sure! The place was located in an area close enough to the national park and was a great value for the price. Everything was well furnished inside.
We felt very uncomfortable after meeting host and the fact that he did not want us to drive around close to the entry as he did not want tire tracks back there, but there were tire tracks already there. The entry stairs were full of cobwebs. We never did get inside and ended up staying at a hotel in town and cut our trip short. I sent a message through VRBO to let the host know but he decided to call me a liar. Most hosts that are there when their paying guests are arriving would be welcoming but this was not the case. We were 3 women traveling and felt unsafe and unwelcome. Host not willing to work with me on any refund, not even partial. I reached out to VRBO at the time but could only reach an AI on chat and that was not helpful either. Live and learn, and will avoid 3rd party sites for booking.
If you happen to have AT&T, you may not have cell service when you arrive. Luckily the wifi is no problem! Joe helped us get situated after we discovered my oversight of not screenshotting the information.Koda, the dog and a cat who's name I forgot welcomed us to the location and helped lead us to the back entrance both are quite cute and probably keep other animals at bay.The views in the back yard are nice. The entrance to the basement unit is clean and quiet. Ita no frills but has everything needed (except a washer-dryer, but that is known from the profile). We really liked the space and it was adequate for 2 adults and 1 child. Water was hot in the shower too.One repair that could be used may be the coffee machine which took 4 cups of water for 1 serving of coffee.
Very secluded and quiet. Good instructions from owner for finding the property. The two beds are in separate rooms which we appreciated. Has a nice kitchenette although we did not use.
Our host Joe was attentive to our questions and needs. The place is a downstairs apartment and was quite adequate for our four adults. We would have enjoyed use of the deck and outside furniture so we could have sat outside. Typical to most Alaskan homes in the interior, everything has a second or third life so there are number of vehicles, etc... around the outside of the property. Loved being in the country seating with a private runway. The dog Koda is very friendly and welcomes you on every arrival.
Everything was great! Location, property, amenities were all spot on. Apartment was clean and had everything one would need. I will stay here again in the future!
I stayed here March 2023 and used as a base while out Mushing and Winter Camping in the Park. I checked in late around 7PM due to traveling from Anchorage. Host was very nice and professional and even helped me carry my bags to the apartment. Everything was great. Beds were comfortable. Everything needed for cooking, stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker, etc. was available. Shower was nice and hot and had great water pressure. Water quality was also good too and didn't smell or appear rusty like much of the ground water in AK is. I enjoyed staying here as it was perfect for my needs and the location was very convenient. I would definitely stay here again.
The basement apartment is pretty small and basic, but is perfectly adequate. It is a short drive from Denali, and makes an excellent base for trips into the park. We saw a moose on the owner's landing strip.
We loved our stay at Joeâs place. Itâs in a great location, very friendly owner and neighbors, amazing dog, plenty of privacy, and beautiful nature all around. Thank you!
I have lived in Alaska for ten years now and in the Denali area for eight years. I was brought up here with the Air Force and now work for the Air National Guard. I enjoy hiking, camping, hunting, fishing and am passionate about flying. I also enjoy muscle cars. I am a dad of three great kids who live with me and keep me busy as a single dad.
The main unique benefit of the home is the hangar, runway, and the apartment adjoined to the home. The neighbors are wonderful and have often expressed their enjoyment of watching the airplane.
