large space- not all finished (floor is open concrete, no screens on windows) and lots of wear on furniture, pots etc
Don is great- enthusiastic and eager to please
river front is quiet- just don't plan on walking around barefoot.
I was looking for a waterfront property without the noise, crowds, frills, and cold of the coastal areas. This site was the perfect fit. Clean, accessible, nearby, safe, and management was very responsive to our needs.Definitely a 10. We will be back!
Great stay. Property had what we were looking for. We were following the Baja 500 course on our motorcycles and it was a short run to the home. The home was clean and quiet. Plenty of room out side for our truck and trailer. Enough hot water for 4 adults to shower, everything we needed to cook and sleep. It was a very peaceful stop on our adventure.
Don was a great host and his house was more than we expected. We enjoyed touring the ranch and curious architecture in various states of rehabilitation. And the water and colors in the sky were just delightful.
I had the good fortune to grow up in Newport Beach, California. For many years I worked with my Father and Brother designing and building specialty vehicles. I have traveled throughout Mexico, visited Japan several times, and made trips to Europe and Central America. I love being on and around the water, and play beach volleyball when I get the chance.
I first came to this "rancho" over 35 years ago. I was immediately captivated be the beauty and serenity. It has been my favorite weekend destination ever since. I built my first home here in 1999. Two years ago I was given the opportunity to purchase the entire rancho. I have since been in the process of upgrading and expanding it to provide an even more enjoyable experience for visitors. This "guest house" was my first project, and more recently I developed a campground area. My catch phrase is "Rancho Mil.....Tranquility on the Rio Hardy".
The Rancho covers 1000 meters of riverfront on the Rio Hardy, which forms the western boundary of the Colorado River Delta, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. "The Delta" is a stopover for migrating birds on the Pacific Flyway, and one of the most important eco-systems in North America. Inspired by the efforts and accomplishments of the Sonoran Institute, I am focused on creating an ecotourism destination to enhance visitors experiences. Flanked by the Sierra El Mayor mountains to the west and surrounded by thousands of acres of open desert, it is hard not to feel at ease here. Beautiful sunrises and moon rises over the river, captivating sunsets behind the mountains and a million stars in the night sky are all common occurrences!!
