Beautiful beach house... approximately 2400 square feet indoors and lots of tiled outdoor living space. Incredible view of the pacific ocean. Walk right down onto beach. Quiet weekdays close proximity to restaurants and nite activities. The Space The floor plan is wide open with three sliding glass doors on the beach side and a large front door. The upstairs bedrooms have sliders on the beach side, and the upstairs stairway/living space has a slider.
Open up all the sliders and constant ocean air and a feeling of openness and tranquility that is unsurpassed. The Kitchen is equipped with refrigerator stove and oven and a modest collection of pots and pans, and flatware. Bedroom 1 has a king size bed, bathroom with shower and a refrigerator. Bedroom 2 has a queen size bed, bathroom with shower and a refrigerator. Bedroom 3 (first floor by kitchen) has a double bed, bathroom with shower. All bedrooms and main living area are air conditioned. But, the odds are you are just going to open all the sliders to bring in the ocean air. A cove in the first floor living space is suitable for books, glasses, liquor, office supplies and storage of other types. For monthly renters, a infrared sauna is on the premises and available for use. Security conscious property is gated with steel door entrance to property and electric garage door. The Neighborhood The house sits on the second level of a tiered gated community overlooking the pacific ocean. It only takes a minute or two to walk down to the beach. So, even on weekends when there is some beach traffic, you are isolated (but overlooking) the activity. The weekdays and much of the weekends are secluded and quiet. Some weekends have a great deal of beach activity. The sky is often filled with the beautiful neon colors of the kite surfers' kites. In season, a pair of binoculars from the deck yields wondrous views of whale activity. The sunsets yield beautiful deep orange colors... new paintings every night. Getting Around You are about 25 minutes from the town of Manta (an $8 to $10 taxi ride). There are restaurants along the beach with extremely affordable local meals. There are 3 kite surfing schools/rental shops to choose from. Rentals for kite surfing, paddle boarding and ocean kayaking is available. Several spots at the beach are available for night life on weekends. A 15 minute taxi ride will get you to larger nite life communities, as well. Other Things to Note A wifi router and extender (to reach the upstairs rooms) is provided. The water is filtered with a rather sophisticated system of ultra-violet light, carbon and other methods. On monthly rentals, you will be required to pay the gas and electric bill. The hot water, dryer and stove are all gas, and your cost averages a whopping $2.50 per tank. LOL. Seriously. The electric is very affordable, and in spite of running two refrigerators and air conditioners at night, the bill is generally under $200.00. On monthly rentals you will be required to pay for water consumption. A cistern must be filled occasionally. You simply make a phone call to have it refilled, at a cost of $25. Two people will need one refill a month, or if you like long showers perhaps two. It is possible to order two refills at once (if the cistern is near empty) just for convenience sake. An emergency cistern is filled and on the roof, in case you let your supply run out. We will get you started with toilet paper, and a set of towels and sheets. But, for monthly rentals you will be required to provide for yourself. There are three bedrooms, each of which having a bed that will sleep two people (1 king, 1 queen and 1 double). There are also two futon style sofas in the downstairs living area, each of which will sleep one... for a total of 8 people.

Nice enough house

House was nice enough....a little expensive, very far from town....need to have your own transportation.....very windy daily.....only television that works is upstairs in bedroom so living room not real functional...if I come back to Ecuador I would not stay there again.

Réponse du propriétaire: The house, most definitely, is/was exactly as advertised. The quoted phrases are from guest’s review: “a little expensive” – guest was certainly aware of the cost going in. “very far from town” – guest actually was staying in town at the time, and said that he was looking for a place by the beach. We discussed the distance to the beach. Not sure why this would have been an issue for him since he was coming from town. If he wanted the kite beach, there is no place closer that he could have rented. The beach is where it is. This is where he wanted to be. “need to have your own transportation” – of course, he needed his own transportation. I didn’t include a rental car or limo service. It is a house rental. There was no promise of transportation, and I fully discussed potential transportation needs prior to guests visit. “very windy daily” – yes it was. It’s a kite surfing beach and that is the draw. Kite surfing season was in full swing. Guest stated that that is the reason he wanted to be there. “only television that works is upstairs in bedroom so living room not real functional” – There are two working TVs in the house… not one. In the bedrooms. I told guest about this ahead of time. TV and Internet service are the number one questions asked. There is an out of service TV in the living room. It was not advertised, offered or intended to be part of services. I do everything I can to accommodate my guests. All he had to do is ask, and I would have had one of the upstairs TVs moved to the living room. Or, he could have simply moved one. And, of course, the living room is functional. It’s an open space with glass sliders open to the Pacific Ocean for an awesome environment. There are two sofas… Not sure why one would consider it non-functional. “if I come back to Ecuador I would not stay there again.” – guest gave every impression that he loved the place and was happy with everything. He was an awesome guest the entire time, and very friendly. On the first day, he and the property manager chatted for hours on the back living space of the house. In email communications toward the end of the visit (regarding the return of security deposit), he even mentioned keeping me in mind for future visits. The entire review just makes no sense to me at all. He left the impression he loved the place. We were never at odds in any way, shape or form. Like I said… a model guest. The two stars are not in keeping with the impression that he left. I'm confused about this.

Great place, great stay

A wonderful stay at this location with family of 3, including our 8 yr old. The place is huge and the decks overlooking the ocean are great and wonderful for kicking back and relaxing. The outdoor, spiral staircase to the roof deck was under repair and therefore not accessible, but it didn't really matter given the views from the other decks. We were there during a "feriado" (holiday weekend) and the beginning of the weekend was pretty empty on the beach but picked up a bit on the the actual weekend. The beach is about a 3 minute walk from the property down to the beach and the beach is great for strolling, playing, etc. Beach is about 20-30 min from Manta and in a pretty secluded area as you have to drive in on about a 5k road off the main highway to get there. The beach is a windsurfing paradise at certain times of year as evidenced by the places that rent them and offer lessons. We saw some pretty skilled kite surfers but not very many on the weekend we were there. We drove there from Quito (about 7 hours) and it was nice to have a car, especially if you wanted to buy groceries for instance as kitchen is well equipped for whatever your needs are and wifi was great. The town is pretty laid back and some good places to eat and enjoy, drink, enjoy a good view, etc. Would definitely stay again.
