My husband and I were in need of a quiet, relaxing place to recover from health challenges and found Bocca the perfect place to be. The condo was spacious with a good kitchen, and we especially enjoyed the outdoor living area with a view of the lagoon, bird life, and the ocean nearby. My husband boogie boarded every day, and the sound of the ocean lulled us to a great sleep each night. Chantil Mare restaurant down the deserted beach provided us with some great meals, and the 3 mile walk along the beach into La Manzanilla was good exercise and access to the music and restaurants in town. Thanks for a perfect retreat.
We have been travelling to Mexico for 8 years, mostly to the La Manzanilla area, and I can say that this was hands-down our favorite rental ever. The condo was well designed to provide privacy for each unit, and this owner selected beautiful finishing touches that made the place feel very special. The bed wins our award for Most Comfortable in Mexico (where it is rare to find a King-size bed, and rarer to find a bed that isn't hard as a board.) The bathrooms' oversized showers with rainheads were lovely, towels were soft and abundant, and the kitchen was stocked with every tool you would need (and many you don't, given how many great restaurants are in nearby La Manzanilla!) We loved being able to slide the doors across the living area to make a private sleeping space for our son. Ceiling fans kept the place cool all day, and it felt very safe and secure. Our only suggestion would be to have a small dining table on the patio to be able to spend all day outdoors. Nely, the caretaker, took great care of us and the property. The beach was nearly deserted on weekdays, and chairs and shade could be rented for about $6/day. Two important things to know for those not familiar with the area -- to get to the beach from the condo, you do have to wade across a knee-deep estuary. Also, there is only one restaurant and a tiny shop in Boca De Iguanas; for access to restaurants and shops, you need to go to La Manzanilla, which is about a 10 minute drive or 1 hour walk away. As long as you are prepared for those two things, you'll find this rental to be extremely relaxing!
The shear definition of a place where you can "unplug." There were many times where we felt like we had an entire beach to ourselves. The apartment was very spacious and had a lot of personality to it. Nelly, our contact, was always there for us. She even ordered pizza for us one night. The iguanas sunbathe on the rocks on the lagoon right in front of us every afternoon. There are a couple of outdoor restaurants within walking distance. La Manzanilla is the closet town next us where you can do some shopping. You can see quite a few ex-pats in town and rent fishing and snorkeling excursions for a very reasonable price. You can also eat there. There are more sleepy towns within a short driving distance. This location is all about relaxation and that's exactly what we got. We will definitely be going back there somewhere in future.
Beautiful & spacious condo with a gorgeous view of the lagoon and beach from our 2nd story terrace. The AC, ceiling fans & WiFi were lifesavers. Beds were comfy. All appliances functioned well, had everything we needed in the kitchen to prepare meals and entertain friends for the day. So many things to do & see nearby. Nely the caretaker is a gem; lovely lady with a wealth of knowledge about the area, helpful, friendly, attentive & accommodating. We canât wait to return in the future. Thank You for being such great hosts.
We were delighted with the property, it was exactly how we envisaged it. Spacious, comfortable with well appointed bathrooms, kitchen and deck. So close to beach that you hear the waves crashing in - fabulous. La Manzanilla, the small fishing village, is only three miles away along the beach - some nice options to dine on the beach. Importantly, La Manzanilla establishments only take cash - nearest bank is in Melaque, 18 miles away so we recommend a car for sure.
We ate at Chandli Mare twice, it's a short walk along the beach from the condo and the food is fabulous - and they take credit card. We had an amazing chili tuna salad and octopus and steak Mata Hari.
Perfect!! Great layout, amazing deck, safe and secure and good access to the beach!
We will definitely stay here again! It worked out just perfect! I have been in this area 6 previous times. Love this area, the bay, the beach, the 5km walk up to the great little town of La Manzanilla. This will definitely be my go to place to stay. Nelly, the caretaker was really nice!
We were so happy with the housekeeper she was very friendly and so helpful. Would recommend this rental to anyone. We stayed a couple extra days. Beautiful beach friendly locals in La Manz. Owner got back to me with booking questions etc. A great location very relaxing. Beautiful beach. Large crocs to wade past to access beach from front gate but can go over bridge farther down.
Friends of ours that had been traveling throughout Mexico on and off for 30 years introduced us to this area and we automatically fell in love with its beauty. We love the people, culture and of course the wonderful winter weather. While we hope to retire there one day, currently we visit our beautiful condo a couple of weeks out of the year. We hope that you will enjoy this unique and beautiful place as we do.
This is without a doubt one of the most beautiful and unspoiled locations in all of Mexico. The bay itself is home to whales, dolphins, sea turtles and an abundance of fish and sea birds. The expansive white sand beach in front of the condo stretches 4 miles down to the quaint little fishing village of La Manzanilla where you will find numerous restaurants and grocery stores. There is a small store next to the condo that carries some basic necessities. However, since we are 3 miles from town we do recommend that you have a rental car for your trip, although taxis are available in the area.
The condo sits at the mouth of an estuary that emptys into the bay. So there is a terrific view of the beach and ocean as well as the opportunity to view the abundant bird life the estuary draws. We walk every morning on the beach and generally see very few people but do occasionally see whales and dolphin. Nature at its best.
