The Hanseatic City of Wismar levies a visitor’s tax/overnight stay tax of 5% on the travel price of the booked accommodation. This is not included in the travel price and will be billed separately upon booking. Since the visitor’s tax/overnight stay tax is not based on the number of guests, visitors to the Hanseatic City of Wismar will not be issued a visitor’s card.

As early as the Old City Register of the Hanseatic City of Wismar, compiled in 1680, the house at “Nienstadt 9” is listed as one of three “Buden” under one roof. In medieval North German coastal towns, “buden” referred to small houses inhabited by poor people, which, alongside the gabled houses of wealthy merchants, shaped the character of the old town. But don’t worry—today, the vacation apartments at the KAFFETIET guesthouse are neither cramped nor shabby.

Special Location of the Bändsel Vacation Rental
The KAFFETIET guesthouse is located on the Old Town Ring, near the Church of the Holy Spirit, founded in 1250 as a hospital and shelter for the poor. A visit is highly recommended, if only to see the fresco dating back to the early 14th century and the beautifully painted Baroque wooden ceiling.
The other Gothic churches, the World Heritage House, and the impressive market square with its stately gabled houses—as well as the harbor—are all just a few minutes’ walk away.
