Your host family warmly welcomes you to the beautiful Thuringian Forest village of Frankenhain.

We offer you a quiet, comfortable holiday flat in the centre of Frankenhain. Restaurants and shopping facilities are in the immediate vicinity.

The bright flat consists of

-A combined living room/bedroom with a double bed, 2 armchairs with a small table, satellite TV, radio with CD player, wardrobe and chest of drawers. (Extra bed for a small child possible)

- a bathroom with shower & WC

- a kitchen with a dining table and 3 chairs as well as a kitchenette with a 4-burner ceramic hob, oven, sink, dishwasher, toaster, coffee and tea maker, kettle and egg boiler, fridge and crockery.

The holiday flat has a terrace (access from the kitchen area) with seating and lounging furniture as well as a barbecue. The entire flat is fitted with laminate flooring, the shower and WC area is fully tiled.

The holiday flat is only 300 metres from the forest and you can start your hiking or cycling tours directly from the front door.



Thanks to Frankenhain's good location in the Free State of Thuringia and the excellent transport links via the A 4 and A 71 motorways, you can reach the most beautiful towns and recreational areas in Thuringia quickly and easily by car.

Location description : Frankenhain lies in a sheltered valley basin about 500 to 550 metres above sea level. The forest stretches right up to the village. The climate is pleasantly mild, the oxygen-rich air has a beneficial effect and the village is supplied with clear water from the spring area of the 735m high Eisenberg.
Thanks to its location in the Thuringian Forest, Frankenhain is an ideal starting point for extensive hikes. Visiting cultural and historical towns such as Gotha, Arnstadt, Ilmenau, Weimar, Erfurt and the Suhl/Oberhof region is easy thanks to the favourable transport links.
The village of Frankenhain was first mentioned in documents in 1301. Its inhabitants earned their living as woodcutters, resin scrapers, pitch boilers, carpenters, millstone hewers and pine soot burners. The main section of the rafting ditch was built between 1691 and 1702. You can hike along its 23 kilometres in the midst of idyllic nature. The rafting ditch touches the Lütschetalsperre dam and camping site, which was built around 1936/37.
