A perfect symbiosis of modern and nostalgia in the historic basket maker's house from 1809 invites you to enjoy an unforgettable holiday and time out. This lovingly renovated semi-detached house from 1809 is located in a quiet side street in the basket-making village of Michelau in Upper Franconia. The centre of the village can be reached on foot in about three minutes.cosy holiday flat on the upper floor of a historic basket maker's house, ideal for a nature and culture holiday.
You can use the car park on the property for your car.
The completely renovated house has two flats on the ground floor and first floor, each of which can accommodate two people. In terms of interior design, both flats are similarly and exclusively furnished. Both flats can be heated by electric marble infrared heaters. This approx. 55 sqm flat on the first floor has a comfortable, spacious living/dining room, which is furnished with a cosy seating area consisting of a leather sofa and leather armchair as well as a coffee table and a large flat screen TV. The fitted kitchen is fully equipped and even has a dishwasher to make washing up easier. The bedroom has a 180 cm wide double bed and beautifully restored original wardrobes. The nostalgic-style bathroom is equipped with a shower and WC. There is also a washing machine and tumble dryer for your exclusive use free of charge. A small seating area has been set up in the hallway of the flat, where you can retreat to read, for example, or do your work as a "digital nomad".
A well-developed network of walking, cycling and hiking trails starts about 150 metres from the house. In the village you will find shops for your daily needs (discounters, supermarkets, bakeries, butchers). The flats are an ideal holiday home for nature and culture lovers.
Michelau is located in the middle of a holiday and hiking area with excellent transport links and good infrastructure. The house is an ideal starting point for excursions to Vierzehnheiligen, Banz Abbey and Bad Staffelstein with its graduation tower and the Obermain thermal baths. The Staffelberg, the local mountain of Franconia, or Coburg, Bamberg, Bayreuth, Kulmbach, Kronach, Franconian Switzerland and the Fichtelgebirge, Thuringia or the Czech Republic are also within easy reach. Discover the many sights that Franconia has to offer and experience Franconian customs and hospitality. Enjoy the beautiful landscape in the Gottesgarten on the Obermain. You will be amazed.
The basket museum in Michelau is also well worth a visit. It gives you an interesting insight into the life and work of the former Michelau basket-making families. The Rudufersee, a bathing paradise for young and old, invites you to take a refreshing dip on warm days.
In 2015, the landlords bought a half-timbered house that had been empty, dilapidated and neglected for years. After three years of careful dismantling and proper restoration, the "Sleeping Beauty" has awoken and invites you to enjoy a wonderful holiday in a historic ambience. As aesthetics and tradition are suitably combined here, guests are surrounded by a cosy and homely atmosphere. The aim of the restoration was to preserve as much of the original substance as possible. Every object and the surfaces were selected with great attention to detail. Many layers of paint were removed from the original old furniture and lovingly restored.
