Far from mass tourism lies Makry Gialos with its golden sandy beaches and a small fishing port. Set against a stunning mountain backdrop and overlooking the sparkling waters of Makry Gialos Bay, Grapevines is a complex of 20 luxurious, three-story, self-catering villas grouped around a large private courtyard and an illuminated 20-meter swimming pool.The complex offers a quiet, idyllic atmosphere
Our property is set back from the road on the west side of the complex and features a private panoramic balcony accessible from the mid-level lounge and a large sun terrace on the top floor. Both offer shade at midday and breathtaking views of the sunset over the bay in the evening. A smaller balcony overlooks the pool and allows early risers a glimpse of the sun rising between the mountains. The master bedroom has its own private bathroom and a private garden terrace. The main rooms are air-conditioned. Utilities are included.Makry Gialos Beach has been awarded the Blue Flag! Distance to Lagufa Beach: 7 minutes.
Diaskari Beach: 10 minutes.
Golden Beach: 10 minutes.

A great stay in this lovely villa with a pool . Very clean and well equipped . Thanks to Litsa the property manager always available and respond quickly to any queries. A great location walking distance to the beach and the town .

Lovely property and surrounds. Huge pool almost to ourselves which was a great place to read a book in the shade and shelter from the wind.

What a great stay. Really lovely place. Only thing to be aware of is that you can’t use Netflix off the internet - come with a good phone data package!

Amazing stay

The property was lovely and clean, however, not ideal for those who have mobility issues as the stairs to the kitchen and living room was quite tight. Owner of the property was very responsive and recommended great places to eat and the beaches were lovely. If you are looking for a relaxing break, this place is definitely the place to visit.

Wonderful and cosy flat

The apartment is very clean and comfy. The pool is a dream and well maintained. Bedrooms are at the ground floor. Living room and kitchen in the 1st floor. We really liked our stay here.

Superb picturesque quiet Crete

Lovely relaxing location, with easy access to delightful quiet and sandy beaches. Excellent set of local tavernas providing great food at sensible prices. Seems unspoilt by the Travel industry and an area that still is able to give an authentic Greek experience. Villa provides all you could want with good accommodation, facilities and a lovely pool area

Lovely property in a lovely complex

The villa itself was well equipped with everything you would need. Large and spacious. Lovely pool in complex and a short walk to tavernas. Information given by Ian the owner was a great help with recommended restaurants to eat and places to visit. Would highly recommend renting this property.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Grapevines, the villa, location and weather were all perfect. The villa and pool were well maintained with plenty of advice and support from the owner and management. The location is lovely on the outer edge of the town but still with shops and great restaurants all within easy walking distance.

Great holiday value

Great, relaxing holiday destination

With all the amenities you could want and the pool steps away from the front door, Ian's 2 bed apartment provides great accommodation In Crete. The pool is at the heart of a small, friendly complex that is close to the town and the beaches of Makrygialos, and there are loads of great recommendations of restaurants, beach bars and places to visit at the apartment. In just a week, we ate well, visited the beautiful mountains, swung in hammocks on a deserted beach, swum in the sea and watched the amazing sunsets - a great place to relax!

Lovely pool

Great location, quite spacious and well equipped. Air con was essential in August. Very convenient for local beaches, shops, cafes, and restaurants. The pool is splendid. The only downside was that in common with other holiday rentals the kitchen knives are blunt and the beds are really hard.

Grapevines is a treat!

Booking this Villa was very straight forward with excellent communication from our host and then from Grapevines managenent. We were met on arrival and were made very welcome and given the information we needed to enjoy our stay. It was a joy to stay around the Villa or to take a short walk to lovely beaches. Thank you.

WONDERFUL

we had a very relaxing stay here , villa very comfortable & clean, pool beautiful & complex peaceful & clean and very friendly . great resort enough restaurants and bars and the most prettiest beaches I have seen down by the harbour . the sea was crystal clear and very shallow and warm as a bath . lots of nice restaurants that do good food . had a wonderful week , Ian the owner was very informative with everything & directions from airport were spot on .

Excellent holiday spot

Perfect location for us for our Crete break. Looking for a first class Villa and an easy location. We found both. Immaculate Villa and very well equipped with all you need. 2 mins from all amenities; shops, beach and lovely Tavernas. Rosemary who supports the guests was superb. Great advice and very responsive. All in all a perfect holiday and we would highly recommend it.

Lovely

Overall a lovely holiday the villa had a small amount of damage which was rectified in hours, brilliant pool but the only downside would be the upside down living which is Cretan style the spiral stairs were a bit steep so anyone with mobility problems run the risk. Apart from that a really nice relaxing hol.

Great break

We had a great break at the end of July. The house was lovely - not for people with mobility issues due to spiral stairs - but perfect for us. The pool and surrounding terrace were beautifully clean and there were always sun beds available. Everyone staying there was friendly and polite. The beach and sea were gorgeous - just across the road and through the hotel grounds to get there. The village has lots of restaurants and bars so we tried a different place to eat each evening and weren’t disappointed once.

Fantastic!

A beautiful town house in a stunning development on the edge of the village of Makrygialos. The 20m pool and gardens were amazing but it was only a10 mins walk to the waterfront where there were numerous tavernas which served great food at very reasonable prices. There were lots of lovely quiet beaches nearby. We also walked the Pefki gorge and Butterfly gorge which were close by. We loved our holiday and I'm sure we'll be going back very soon. The owner was very helpful and communication was great.

Fantastic place and surrounding

What a calm and beautiful place this is. We are more than satisfied, the house has everything one would need; clean, beautiful and close to everything. The communication with the owners was super smooth and the lady who was in charge of taking care of the house and the keys (Chrysa) was really helpful during all our stay. There is a booklet in the house with lots of suggestions on what to see/do and where to eat, which is great. If you want to experience a real local hidden place in Crete, this is where to stay and go. Good to know is that the pool is not heated, we stayed in June and it was a bit chilly in the pool.

Great Villa and Location

Our second stay here and it was just as good as the first time. Spacious and well equipped. Air conditioning kept it comfortable at night. Brilliant pool just a few metres away and with the beach and village just a few minutes walk everything you need is within easy access. We had a small water leak in the bathroom but 30 minutes after reporting it a member of staff arrived and it was quickly fixed. We were expecting a clean at the end of the first week. It wasn’t a big deal and we could have chased it up.

Nice quiet apt with great pool area

Stayed for 5 days with 2 teenage girls. Apartment is very nice but beds are quite hard as other guests have commented. Good size kitchen and living area and plenty of balconies to sit out on. Real bonus is the shared pool which is very tranquil and right outside your front door. We stayed in early June so not many properties were occupied. Often we had the pool to ourselves or there may be one or two other couples lounging around. Rosemary is very helpful and couple of great beaches within 7-8 min walk. Harbour is about 15 min walk but nice restaurants and a supermarket beside the apt

Great Location Grear Pool Great Accomodation

We stayed in Gapevines over the summer and our stay was great and everyone enjoyed the accomdation. On the ground floor there are 2 bedrooms, as a result the bedrroms are cooler, so great for sleeping. The main bedroom has a terrace, patio doors and ensuite with shower. The first floor has the sitting area, dinning area, and kitchen. The kitchen is well stocked and has a full size oven, hob and microwave. The 1st full has a small terece over looking the pool and larger terrace which you can eat out on it has 6 seat table to and chairs. On the top level is a large sun terrace. Nearby there are 2 beaches within walking distance and numerous restuarants which serve a wide variety of food I would recommned this property and would definately stay here again
