Welcome to your peaceful Arctic escape in Botnhamn—a beautifully renovated ground-floor apartment with sweeping sea views and front-row access to the northern lights and midnight sun. Located on the island of Senja in Northern Norway, this cozy retreat is the perfect base for exploring dramatic landscapes, hiking iconic peaks, or simply slowing down and soaking in the quiet beauty of Arctic village life.

The apartment has been newly renovated with thoughtful details throughout. The bedroom features a comfortable bed with soft jersey sheets and warm Nordic duvets for restful sleep. The living room is spacious and cozy, perfect for unwinding after long Arctic days. Fast WiFi makes it easy to stream or work remotely. The kitchen includes cookware, utensils, and pantry space, along with a stocked coffee and tea station. The bathroom is modern and clean with fresh towels and complimentary toiletries. An in-unit washer and dryer adds extra convenience for longer stays.

Wake up to soft Arctic light over the sea and enjoy your morning coffee while watching fishing boats pass by. On clear winter nights, you may even see the Northern Lights dancing above the fjord—sometimes visible right from the property. Tania and I are passionate travelers who fell in love with Northern Norway the first time we visited. There’s something truly special about the quiet beauty of Senja — the dramatic mountains rising straight from the sea, the ever-changing Arctic light, and the peaceful rhythm of village life in Botnhamn. What started as a hiking trip from our home in Atlanta, GA, USA turned into a love for the people and landscape of Northern Norway (now our second home), and we’re excited to share it with others.

We love hiking, exploring scenic drives, discovering small local cafés, and simply being outdoors in nature. Some of our favorite moments here are the simple ones — watching the midnight sun stretch late into the evening, spotting fishing boats from the window, or stepping outside on a clear winter night to catch the Northern Lights overhead. Senja has a way of slowing you down and helping you reconnect with what really matters.

Hosting gives us the opportunity to share that experience with guests from all over the world. We genuinely enjoy creating a space that feels comfortable, welcoming, and thoughtfully prepared — somewhere you can relax after a long hike, cook a great meal, or curl up with a movie if the weather turns cozy. We’ve tried to include the little details that we appreciate when we travel ourselves: a well-stocked kitchen, soft bedding, good coffee, and clear communication.

Tucked along the northern edge of Senja, Botnhamn is a small fishing village where life moves at a slower, more intentional pace. Here, you won’t find crowds or busy streets. Instead, you’ll find open skies, quiet roads, and uninterrupted views of sea and mountains.

The water stretches out in front of the village, reflecting the shifting Arctic light throughout the day. In winter, the darkness makes it one of the best places to experience the Northern Lights without driving far from home. In summer, the midnight sun bathes the landscape in a soft, golden glow late into the night. Every season feels dramatic and alive.

Botnhamn is also incredibly well positioned for exploring the best of Senja. From here, you can easily reach iconic hikes like Segla and Hesten, drive scenic coastal routes, or take the ferry connection toward Tromsø. At the same time, you return each evening to peace and stillness — something we truly value.

There’s a small local grocery store, a café, fishing boats coming and going, and neighbors who know one another. It feels authentic and grounded, not touristy. That balance — access to adventure with a quiet place to land — is exactly why we chose Botnhamn. It allows guests to experience the wild beauty of Northern Norway while staying somewhere that feels genuine, calm, and deeply connected to nature.

Unlike many short-term rentals, we’ve focused on the small details that elevate a stay. Soft jersey sheets and warm Nordic duvets make winter nights especially comfortable. The kitchen includes cooking utensils, pantry space, and a fully stocked coffee and tea station so mornings feel easy and inviting. The in-unit washer and dryer add convenience for hikers, longer stays, or winter travelers.
